Many moons ago there was a person on a small, now-defunct vape forum who complained that all his mainstream mods were shit because they just didn't hit as hard the couple of DNA mods he had - using the same atty with the same coil at the same voltage.
He assumed that the DNA mods were perfect since they were DNA mods, therefore the problem must lie with the inferior parts used on the mainstream mods.
Others pointed out to him that it could possibly be that his DNA mods were hitting higher than they were set for, rather than his mainstream mods hitting lower than they were set for. But the guy wouldn't budge on his belief that the mainstream mods were just shit and the DNA mods were working at 100% accuracy and efficiency, just because they were DNA mods that he'd paid a premium for.
However, he never tested the mods and didn't have the means to do so (in other words - no scientific data, just pure religious belief). Someone offered to send him a meter to test the outputs but he initially refused but eventually accepted because there was compelling evidence posted that, in fact, the DNA mods were most likely the mods that were running inaccurately, not the mainstream mods.
I personally thought this would be a worthless attempt to prove his DNA mods were the mods that weren't working properly because the guy was dead set on believing that DNA was flawless and would therefore never post his findings unless they were in favor of the DNA mods.
But lo and behold he turned out to be an honest fanboy! He reported back that, in fact, the DNA mods were hitting harder than they should (in other words, outputting more voltage than was set for). He was shocked and dismayed to find out his beloved DNA mods weren't the works of perfection he had been brainwashed to believe and that the mainstream mods were ACTUALLY more accurate.
And if I remember correctly, there were, of course, fanboys trying to rationalize the finding with non-facts because their world has literally been turned upside down.
I'm not saying DNA mods are shit (not at all), but I am saying that fanboys are never to be trusted - fanboyism is usually just a religious belief. And fanboys attract other fanboys who, when mobbed together, try to push their religion as though it is scientific fact. This is not unique to the vape market, of course.
I wish I could remember the name of that forum so I could check to see if that thread was archived by wayback. Must've been about 2013 or 2014, I think. (SHIT, now I'm gonna think about this all day!)
