Sweet vape recipe with nicotine similar to IGET and HQD

Hey guys
New vaper here! I Started on disposable vapes (IGET and HQD) and loved it! I recently bought a Nord two and tried mixing nicotine (6%) with the ejuice, but it doesn’t taste good or sweet or anything like the ones I’ve been on! I’m trying to find the right ingredients to make a sweet tasting liquid with nicotine, similar to the disposable vapes that I have been on. Does anybody have a recipe? I found that adding a liquid form of sugar to the ejuice will provide the sweetness, and salt nicotine is Best. I’m very new to the vaping and would appreciate some help and guidance

Hey! Welcome to VU!

It would help us if you gave a more detailed version of exactly what you did.

Commercial juices have an extraordinary amount of sweetener in them. It could be just that you’re not using enough.

And letting us know what kind of profile(strawberry, tobacco, bakery, etc...) you’re looking for.

Hello. Thank you :) so I bought a 50ml bottle of ejuice and added in about 3 ml of nicotine. That’s pretty much it but it does not taste of the ejuice at all and I believe the nicotine taste (it is unflavoured but has a weird smell) is overpowering it. I am a berry chick. Anything berry and I’m in! Got any solutions?

Hello, hope I can offer you some bit of guidance here. :)

Nicotine Solution

I know you express an affinity for salts. That aside, I think a free base solution can suffice. You could though possibly use something like Base.

Berry Mix

This is a fair mix of berry flavors. Bull City Flavors has a wide range of flavors to choose from, they're inexpensive while quality.

Would start about 5 to 7% flavoring added to a nicotine base solution. You can add or reduce as desired from there. General tumb of rule, try not to bump your flavors over 20%. Also in adding extra sweetener, watch out for your coils. Coils will gunk up more with more sweetener/s.

Hello! ? thank you for replying. My hope to find my way is slowly returning! When you say nicotine base solution-that’s the nicotine vg/pg mix? Is 70/30 ideal for flavour? When you say 20% flavour that’s relating to the overall mix? (So if making 100ml flavour then I should not exceed 20ml)?

Thank you! What base to mix it with? 70/30 vg/pg?

Ok. Im home now. I can answer you properly!

I looked up what devices you’re using. I found the HQD. Basically, what you’re looking at is one flavor maxxed out, nic and a ton of sweetener.

The Nord has two types of coils.....DTL(direct to lung) and MTL(mouth to lung). The DTL coils can use regular eliquid(30pg/70vg and up). The MTL coils can use salts and a higher PG percentage.(50pg/50vg). Which one are you using? That could have something to do with why you’re having a hard time tasting anything.

Depending on what coil you’re using will depend on what kind of juice you can use.

If you’re looking for something super easy, FA Forest Fruit(at maybe 5% if you’re using a MTL coil)would be a nice start. It’s a mix of strawberry, blueberry, raspberry and a touch of blackberry. Simple. You would add that and some sweetener to pg/vg/nic and go! No need to steep!

Hey wildgypsy, you are so kind and helpful! I have been obsessing about vaping lately!! I have tried both coils with 50/50. I can’t really tell the difference except one is tighter to suck on and the other a bit looser. I tried one coil with no nicotine and the other with but I cannot taste the sweetness/flavour like I do with the hqd. I’m starting to think I should have bought an ecig, because the mouth to lung isn’t how I’m smoking the hqd curve. It’s more of a one long inhale (like you would a cigarette). Do you think I should get an ecig? I’m in Australia and this is my local shop (https://vapeoz.com.au/) I have used their generic juice so far to test.

I've recently started using my Nord 2 with the RPM RBA that you can buy separately for it. The flavor I get from it is great....BUT....I've been mixing my own juice at home for several years and am used to a little bit lower percentage of flavorings than are present in most pre-mixed juice.

Now that you've told us you're in Oz, maybe @DogMan can give you some pointers. I take it you buy juice as shortfills (without nicotine) and then add your own nic shots or something like that. I am not familiar with the way those nic shots are used.

I would like to ask, what kind of flavor are you trying in the Nord? Is it something "light," like a vanilla or a custard flavor?

Also, using the coil that has the looser draw, what wattage are you using? You may have the wattage down too low. I vape my Nord with the RBA (coil is at 0.68 ohms) at 30 watts.

A few more details might help us help you better.

i mostly vape unflavoured, or DIY NETs

but, you'll need years worth of nicotine before 1/1/2021, when imports are due to be shut down

Yes. I have been absolutely gobsmacked at how much I like this little thing. The Alike is a decent device, too, and also VW. The Smok RPM RBAs are good, too; come prebuilt with what looks like a 28ga round wire coil. Very good flavor, good vapor, medium-restricted DL, just perfect for me. AND after a couple of weeks' use, NO LEAKS. To me, that's the real test of a Smok AIO or pod, because the whatever-it-is that I had before (Trinity Alpha?) leaked like a sieve after about a week or 10 days.

Well, damn. I have the OG Nord and I like it well enough. The stock coils aren’t terrible and it hasn’t leaked(except when I flew with it. Stupid me.).

When you say nicotine base solution-that’s the nicotine vg/pg mix? Is 70/30 ideal for flavour? When you say 20% flavour that’s relating to the overall mix? (Is 70/30 ideal for flavour?

When you say nicotine base solution-that’s the nicotine vg/pg mix?

Correct.

Is 70/30 ideal for flavour?

Depends, will explain. PG carries flavor better out of PG or VG. A bit of a trick if you want sweeter juice is try using more VG. It has its own natural sweetness, though it is subtle.

When you say 20% flavour that’s relating to the overall mix?

Correct, dependent on your "target/batch" size. I like squonking and most bottles I use for that are on average 5 ml. I use some 10 ml ones, some 8, 7. so I average to 5, So, if I'm using a 10 ml bottle as "size" then, I would not put more than a total of 2 ml of flavoring into the bottle.

Again this varies to your specific size at the time you're doing. The other 80% needs to be the Nicotine Base Solution and that's your Pg/Vg ratio mixed with your Nicotine ratio.

This is normally discussed as base ejuice, base. It isn't the Brand Name Base that I linked to, just base. You can use salts but many find the plain 'free base" nicotine does fine. Salts may offer a smoother taste, it can be done with plain too. You just need a little experience, spoon feeding to get to doing it. :)

Psst. Shortcut, let Vg smooth your vape, or use an enhancer I've heard called Smooth or Silk. You'll find it or get pointed to it. :)

Want more flavor? Use more Pg.
Want more volume to vapor? Use more Vg.

Remember more sweetener, sweet Vg will be a bit harder on coils/wick. There's tips and tricks regarding these as well but that's a different topic subset. :)

The beauty of DIY is you make it to suit your tastes. I don't have that device so I don't know how well it wicks. Experiment at bit with different ratios of PG/VG to find your sweet spot.

Where did you get your nicotine from?
How old is it?
How is it stored?

Good nic should have no smell and be clear in color.
Sometimes it will be a very slight yellow or pink and still be ok.
You may have some bad nic if it is taking over your flavor
