IDK jack about Mac stuff, so IDK how that would apply. Just know about making USB cords longer. ;-)
Just to clarify something @Hey! it's just Ray... if the cable says that it is USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 it is a data cable. Power only cables do not meet any dataspecs and therefore cannot be rated at 2.0 or 3.0.
I have learned alot today here thanks. I will let you all know what I end up doing but pulling it all out and thinking about it or taking pictures while the wife is home now may not be in my best interest to keep peace here.Can you actually post a picture of the connection you are trying to hookup and preferable the name and model of the mike.
