So I got one of those second gen ipv minis that get to 70 watts and looking for some advice on a coil build for bigger clouds that can use the full 70.

Currently running my Tobh with dual 24awg w/ 10 wraps @ .4 ohms. While it gives decent vape and flavor (juice has been 100% VG), I'm finding that it takes a bit of time/puffs to get the coils going (...10 wraps) and would like for them to get warmer quicker with some more vape production.

I've been using that coiltoy website for some build ideas and I'm thinking of doing two 30awg w/ 7 wraps @ 2mm for .7ohm which would get me about 10 amps and 7 volts. But with the ipv should I be trying to push more amps or hit higher volts?

Any advice from some regulated mod users is very much appreciated! I'm planing on buying 100ft of Kanthal but want to make sure I get a good gauge for use with the mini.

With 24g, a super nano is an excellent option. I do 10 wraps around a 16g needle, and it hits around 0.5 ohms. Due to the surface area it gives off good vapour and flavour ,and doesn't take forever to heat up.

Got 1st device on valentines day, istick mini. Haven't touched cig since! Have ipv mini 70 watt on way from China, won't do that again! Kanger sub hybrid and volt hybrid coming also. Looking forward to learning to rebuild with help from you guys! Am sure I need to wait a bit before rebuilds. Wonder what's a good start setting for my box with k tank and 80%vg?

I went micro on my first attempts and got it down... 7/64 bit 6 wrap w/24g.... Worked out great- heats up quick. But that nano build sounds sooo tempting to try. That thing would heat up faster than my old slutty girlfriend.

Thanks for the input guys. Currently have a tobh built at .4 (6 wraps of 26g around the big post on my jig, unsure of size) it's not too bad, thought it does seem to give me "dry like" hits at 70watts every now and then and my cotton still looks juiced?! Any advice on this situation?

I just bought 100ft of 26g for a deal at my shop so I'm probably going to do most of my builds with that until I get a spool of 24g.

Dry hits are inevitable on custom wicked builds. The dry hits can happen even when well wicked due to heat, you can start burning the cotton even when it is still wet. As well, it can take a second or two for more liquid to wick further towards the coil.

That's what I figured was happening. If I started getting consistent "dry" hits even though the cotton looked wet I'd pull it out and the portion in the coil would just be black. Still doing the trial and error with wicking amounts/methods.

Thinking about doing dual 26g 10-12wraps on my smallest post of my jig to see what it comes out to. CoilToy says it should get me around .4 but will the smaller ID and more wraps give me better vape production with shorter heat up time?
