The Screw in part is kinda lame, but yeah. Certainly interesting as a single coil RTA option (especially as i'm currently sitting here hating my Lemo 2).

Why is the set screw lame????
Seems like its gonna be a hell of alot easier to remove the deck from the sheath that way. Im always having a hard time getting that sheath unscrewed from the deck on the original. Damn thing is all covered in juice making it slick as shit , and even if it wasnt, its so small and since there isn't any knurling to grip on...it's a pain in the ass. Maybe if you have small hands and fingers it's not a problem, Idk....
But having that little set screw there to quickly give a half turn and free the sheath sure seems like an improvement to me. :)

By default, the majority of those "most people" you refer to there are also not doing online pre-orders, which they otherwise would need to be to support your risk theory. They'll likely go down to their local B&M, see it in stock, and buy it there. Which again, i'm not arguing it won't do very well in that capacity.

If you had that much trouble finding an istick50 when it came out, i'm left guessing you didn't look around hard enough. I ended up snagging 5 of various colors (including pink and blue) as soon as the very first in-hand forum reviews were coming in to flip at work before i even bought mine (weeks latter), since my friends tend to fall into the above "most people" category and our local B&M markup tends to fall on the rather ridiculous side. US vendors and with coupon codes i didn't pay more then $45 for any of them, except the pink which i paid $50 on with free shipping.

On the flip side don't misunderstand me either, as i'm not anti-Kanger here or anything. I actually rather like what they are doing in making a strong play at the budget box market. Heck, i have a $18 Kbox sitting right next to my sx mini m class now, just because it's such a great value buy. My issue here is simply with the notion that people will somehow risk "missing out" in the event they don't jump on the pre-order of this, especially if we are are talking Vapoertek's $65-$70 "deal" that won't likely end up saving you any money.

I mean it's a Kanger product man. This thing is going to be everywhere. Different strokes for different folks i guess, but for me a potential extra 2-3 day wait is worth getting the non-biased confirmation that they actually got their first attempt at non-stripped down feature box right.

I paid much less for my isticks. I thought the point was matching coop / pre-order pricing with retail pricing. I was willing to go $5 over. At that price, they were hard to get. I also didn't want to order from China - and they were sold out anyway. Based on the stock of b&m's in my area they are geared for the hobbyist or someone very new. Not much imbetween. Very knowledgable, very friendly and my guess is above average stores, but grey haired old ladies must not be an exciting customer base for them. In general, vaping tends to be male dominated. That overlooks 50% of the customer base.

I agree. Another moving part, requiring a tool, adding another step to rewicking/coiling. I'm not crazy about the idea. I may just learn to like it though, maybe.
I have no issues with my current bottom-threaded barrel subtank design, so am resistant to changing it. I can see why people welcome the new design though since the old barrel's can be a little tricky for some unscrewing from the deck.

My only real gripe about the Subox is the fixed pin on the mod. Hoping they listen to the public and quickly change to a springloaded pin, 'cause I really want this setup,, and soon.

I can understand why they did the pin the way they did now. The Subtank is spring loaded and two springload pieces of hardware don't make a secure connection. The pin does "give" so it's more like a squish (not much) but that could be enough for most everything to sit flush. I haven't seen a reviewer complain yet about something they've tried that hasn't fit; usually the opposite. The Kbox had a spring loaded pin, so it's not like it was an oversight on Kanger's part.

I'm more concerned with that white paint. 3 reviews I've seen have mention it's scratched within the first 48 hours. That's not good. Life is hard inside my purse.

I received a couple emails tonight from VapeStreet.
1. was to inform that tonight is the last night to order this set-up at the pre-order price.
2. was to inform that they are shipping tommorrow!
Now I dont know if that means that Kanger is shipping to VapeStreet tommorrow or if VapeStreet is shipping all of their pre-orders tomorrow.
Either way it shouldnt be too much longer now. :)

Yeah...probably.
I bought my iStick 50w full kit for $55-60, and now you can find them on sale at different vendors for $40-45.
Alot of people are trying to stay away from those 50w iSticks now though.
Screw it...I still use mine plenty.
Might even buy another.:eek::cool:

The Istick is the best mod I have. I also own the Sigelei 150. Not taking away from the 150 cause she is a beast but the Istick is stealth and the battery life is stellar!

I have to agree! I have an IStick 20, and have been so pleased with it that I ordered a 50 the other day, should receive it on Tuesday!

So i'm already seeing these stocked in the US for under $57 shipped.

Wonder if those $70 pre-orders from Vaportek have shipped yet. Should have jumped on that when i had the chance! ;)

Vapor Joe posted them this morning from MFS for $52 and change, just wish we could afford it right now. :(
But will the new, exorbitant tax in NC affect things like this or is it just on nicotine liquid?

Mine shipped yesterday from VapeStreet.
I should have it by tomorrow or Friday at the latest.
Only paid $58 with free shipping so I dont think that was a bad deal any way you look at it. Zero hassles and immediate shipping when the stock was received.

Side Note:
Im not really a fan of delrin tips.
They serve a purpose... but I prefer to use stainless or titanium when possible and just use an insulator to reduce heat if it becomes an issue.
That said, I just orderd this nice stainless Uncrustable Tip from Vapor Shark. It should go well with the new set-up. :)

The Uncrustable gimmick honestly had me going over there to give it a look, even though i have enough DTs already.

Might have to snag myself one of those.

Yeah...we'll have to see if its a gimmick or not. I dont know.
Itd be nice if it didnt get gunked up like my others, but in all honesty I was just looking for a nice black stainless wide bore that I could use instead of the delrin that comes with the kit. Another member turned me on to this one, and it fits the bill perfectly. especially because of the color. The Uncrustable feature is just a nice bonus if it works. If not, I didnt lose anything because I was still looking for a black stainless tip regardless. :)

Kanger is pretty reliable and always has good quality stuff. But I'm with a lot of others, while I love the look...I want to wait a few months to see how it works for others. Then the prices will come down (not that its not a pretty good deal already). It was easier than some to resist for me because of the single battery. You aren't gonna get that much battery life vaping at 50 watts. I don't think the majority of vapers really do anyway though. I'll tell you what looks like the sleeper "mod of the year" though. That Evic-VT. All the first look videos have people super impressed. The look of them with the racing stripe sets it apart. You can get them with or without the matching Ego One tank, and it's got temp control. You may not need it now, but it's good to know that it's there if you want to play with it. Oh and a 5,000 MAH battery (more than even the istick50.) I am really interested to know how people like the Suboxes though. The other thing that was really wait and see for me is that ceramic coating on the inside of the subtank mini. Wanna make sure those things don't sprinkle paint chips in your eliquid while vaping...LOL :)

Looks like it finally arrived!:D:D:D
I wont be able to check it out until tonight after work though.:(

Im not someone thats going rave and rave over how wonderful something is. If its nice...Ill normally just say its nice and a little bit more.
However....if it shitty in any way Im more than willing to warn others about its shittiness in GREAT DETAIL! Haha.

So if ya dont see a big list of complaints....
Im probably pretty content with it.
And at $58 shipped to the door, I cant imagine this thing pissing me off all That Much.
I guess we'll see....

I'm pretty nervous about how that finish/paint will hold up. Not so much the black, but the white one is what I'm interested in. I've search all over a variety of Kanger forums and there's only a very limited warrenty for 30 days. This is a first release. I don't like buying stuff to have it die a few months later.

I actually held one tonight a local vape shop in Vegas-a black one with the tank included. Noticed something odd, though: The battery vent hole ("K" with horizontal lines) is upside down. I own a KBox, and the store had a KBox right next to the Subox. And the cutout is most definitely inverted. What up wif dat?

Just saw this morning that GB is taking preorders for the mods and the new color subtank mini's separately. Can anyone who has gotten these in the last couple of days report on the 510? I just want to know if it's spring loaded and besides the subtank, do you have any issues screwing any of your other atties down on it?

I would hold off on ordering a subox, A bird told me that Kanger is going to update the 510 to spring loaded and supply a stainless drip tip along with the delrin drip tip.

Heh. Never mind. I didn't understand how the battery cover attaches. After seeing photos, I now see that the cover has been put on upside down. Damn, I thought either K-Tech made a strange design choice or I had discovered a rare factory blooper.

Yeah, even seeing the kit for $45, the no adjusting pin is an utter deal breaker imo.

Haven't seen the tank only for sale yet though. Or maybe i'm just not looking hard enough. That's all i admittedly care about :)

So far....I like it guys.
After 4-5 days straight use theres not anything I can really bitch about. The finish had a couple tiny uniformities upon arrival. its a satin black finish. anyone thats done their ride in satin black will understand. no scratches so far....fingers crossed. the buttons are very solid. to me...the tank feels a bit light in comparison to the original mini....but i dont have a friggin tweeeeker scale to tell for sure. Straight up....I'm digg'n it ...but the finish is stilll worrysome even though i havent jacked it up yet. Pbastardo did say something about an upcoming spring loaded pin that would be Awesome...but if you are just going to use the set-up as "the set -up" it shouldnt matter. great starter kit for sure. this kit actually just converted one of my hard core 20+ year smoker friends. so that says a little. i personally smoked for 25 years and wished this kit was available afew months back. it would have saved me quite a bit. ;)

The button is great. Very solid and clicky. sadly the battery door is also clicky, and not so solid.
I've had no problem fitting any attys on the non adjustable 510. If anyone is thinking of getting a subtank, then buying the kit is a no brainer. The mod ends up costing 15 bucks. Just wish the door didn't slide around.

Yeah....the buttons are very solid and clicky. Plastic....but very solid and clicky.

To VapeDick:
I found a very low tolerance (room) for the battery inside the cover. Some 18650's come with a white piece on the positive section. That tiny fraction added to the battery was enough to make my battery door not rest properly and feel unsecure like youre describing. After I ripped that fucker out everything locked up very well....for me anyways.
Might give it a try and see if it helps. :)

Thanks @ blacktoothgrin This piece? Isn't that there for safety? To stop shorts? My door slides up and down like the magnets are a little misaligned. I did remove some excess glue which helped a bit.
Maybe I'll give that a try when I rewrap my battery in black.

BLACKTOOTHGRIN

yep...that piece.
and yeah it may very well be there for saftey so I dont want to lead you in to doing something UNSAFE....but once I removed that top section, my battery door fit like it should using a Samsung 25R.
Before you do anything though....see how that door is fitting on there WITHOUT the battery installed first. Because it WONT fit any better than that, right? ;)

The wrap and the ring are on the battery cell as insulation/safety to prevent shorts. Leave it on there.

Don't know if this applies to those with battery door fitment issues or not...

On my black Subox, the door looks to have a semetrical design. But the actual fit varies noticeably depending on orientation. So if it doesn't seem to fit properly just try turning the door upside down.

Update:

I received the Uncrustable Drip Tip from Vapor Shark finally. It took FOREVER to get here. It somehow was lost in Hawaii for a period of time. Yeah...Hawaii! How the hell did it end up in Hawaii!?? Good ol postal service.

Anyways....
If you were considering getting this to match your mod,
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Its not even black. At least not black how anyone would think of black. It actually looks like it has a bit of a bluish tint to it. It looks really weird and doesnt match the mod in ANY way.
A really bad choice on my part.:(

What Ive come to find is its a manufacturing issue and has nothing to do with the batteries:
http://vapingunderground.com/threads/kbox-mini-subox-kit-battery-door-issue.93174/#post-518572
Interesting. Perhaps that explains my comment about how my door fits differently depending on orientation. Sounds like there's a manufacturing problem with the thickness of the door and it sometimes being thicker than it should be.

Exactly.
It may be the thickness of that lip that the magnets sit on, who knows. But since I now have one that sits perfectly and another thats way out of wack, I know something isnt right with the mod itself.

Something else Ive noticed:
I think Kanger has already changed the guts of this thing.
As seen on various review videos as well as my black one....when activating the watt control up or down, on first button press, no adjustment is made, the screen just comes on. Then you have to press the button one more time to adjust your watts.

The white one that I have doesnt operate that way.
It starts adjusting immediately when you press the + or - buttons. It also scrolls through the numbers quite a bit faster as well. I highly doubt they would make one color operate one way and another color in a different way, so obviously something has been changed internally already.

I was told that the white version was held back to correct paint issues...so it makes me wonder if it gave them time to make this adjustment as well.

The place I ordered my black one from have already received their second large batch of these.
It will be interesting to find out how the replacement operates being from the "second round" so to speak.

Sounds good Zam.
Im really irritated about that one I ordered from Vapor Shark. It looks nothing like the picture in coloring as far as the black is concerned. In fact, now that I'm looking more carefully... the picture they used is looking more like a computer rendering.

So anybody spotted just the tank for sale yet?

Yep.
Vape Super Saver has them available as well as the Vertical OCC Coils. I think the tanks are $32.99 and the coils are $13.99.

If you're just buying the coils and buy more than 1 pack you'll get a little bit of a discount and free shipping.

I really hope they release an updated Stainless Version of this tank.

So far a week with mine and love it, .5 ohm at 20 watts. Only real complaint is the paint chips easy. Anyone know where I can get a skin printed for the subox? I cludged this together but would love a legit skin.

Someone over on the VJ Facebook page asked about the Subox. I've had mine for 2 weeks now. With the $20 (or less) cost of the Kbox and a number of subtanks available for $20 (or less) like the Arctic, iSub G, Melo and others I've not mentioned, I'm not convinced its worth it to pay too much of a premium for a nicer design with about the same functionality. I've never felt a need to vape at 21.7W vs the 5W increments on the Kbox. I find myself jumping the Subox in 5W increments, as I also do with my IPV 4 and Sigelei 150. The battery door is nicer as is the addition of USB charging. The Kanger Subtank mini V2 that's in the kit is a decent subtank. But if you stay with the Kbox and move up to $30 for a subtank you can get designs with top filling and 0.3 ohm heads like the Project Sub-Ohm SauceCode or Youde offering who's name I forget among others. And currently its tough to find in stock $50 on the Subox kit, more often $60+. I own 2 of the Subox, but also 3 Kbox along with an IPV 2S and 4 and Sigelei 150. For use with the available subtanks the Kbox seems to me to be just as usable as the Subox or even the more expensive mods I own. And I really do like the SauceCode over the Subtank mini, Arctic and iSub G that I use. If someone offered to buy me a $50 setup I'd choose a Kbox and SauceCode (or the Youde offering) over the Subox every time.

My Kbox Mini won't fire my Cyclone AFC rda (non adjustable positive pin). I pushed the mod's pin up from the inside and that worked but as soon as it gets pushed back down by re-installing the subtank it won't fire the Cyclone again. I love the Kbox but hate the damn 510 connection.

EDIT: I also used an RDA with a adjustable positive for a while (Freakshow Mini) and at one point I adjusted the pin on the RDA too far out, then my Subtank wouldn't fire. Again I had to disassemble the Kbox and push the pin back up. Now I will only use it with the tank.
