Further down the line I will be daring to try and do a doughnut with maple syrup and bacon on top. Be interested to see crazychefs feedback after steeping. What percentage do you mix it at Teresa as any reviews I have seen of any of any vendors bacon flavour seem to say its repulsive or just like liquid smoke bar one person that said to literally put a drop into 10ml. Also I saw somebody saying Joy tasted like funnel cakes when mixed with cream and I see you have tried Joy Teresa, would you think doughnut, joy and cream would work? As mentioned, all for further down the line, Ive only just started DIY and tried a couple of recipes from here, but my addictive personality is already coming up with ideas for flavours I havent even tried haha
Without having the recipe in front of me (other computer), I can't recall the exact percentage but I know it was more than 1 drop per 10ml. As a shake and vape, bacon is pretty stout. But left to steep with sweeter flavors, it mellows out considerably and tends to blend as more of an enhancer than a dominant flavor. It's certainly not for everyone!
Ah, FA Joy..... I hate to say I wasn't impressed, but it's true. I guess I expected much more but I think it tastes like fried bread. Something like a funnel cake, but not quite as sweet. It's good for bakery type flavors, maybe with fruits for a "pie" effect. Of course that's just my impression, you may feel differently. I did purchase HIC's Baklava recipe, which includes Joy as an ingredient, and am anxious to mix it up and see how it does there. That was actually the first thought I had after trying it, that it would make a good baklava, but I couldn't quite nail it myself.
