I'm sure someone will beat me to it, but Blues Brothers. :) I haven't read to the end of the thread yet.

Yes, EXACTLY! I guess we must have been poor. ;)

I never went to kindergarten :(

I went to kindergarten. My "teacher's" name was Miss Brown, and she always made us line up to go outside to play, and then did her "busy bee" thing, where she put her hands together to arrow through us, and then serpentined through the line, saying, "Bzzzzzzzzz." She was funny, and that's about all I can remember about kindergarten. Oh, and paste and construction paper.

The only thing I remember about kindergarten was finger painting, graham crackers with milk, and nap time. Also, we didn't do cursive until 3rd grade.

I don't remember when we started learning cursive, but I DO remember the capital W being very different than the computer font on that AI picture. Very spikey, with lots of points on it. I can't draw on here, but maybe you remember that W? I think it was pretty standard back then, and it was the hardest letter for me to master because of all the weird angles.

I don't remember "W" being spikey.

Ours was "Prospect 5" when I was a kid. And very briefly, I remember having a party line with the neighbor, but pretty soon we got our own private line.

Yup, that was normal. It still is, for me. It's just the way it should be. :)

Back in the 80s when I was still married to my ex, we only had one vehicle, but we worked fairly close to each other, so the ex would drop me off at my work and then go on to his. Well, when 5:00 rolled around, sometimes he couldn't get off work right away, so I'd wait in the break room for him to show up. One of our drivers (it was a moving company) always, ALWAYS, sat with me while I was waiting. He'd say something silly, like "We haven't had a chance to chat for a while" as his excuse for hanging around, but one of the other drivers told me he was staying to make sure I was safe until my husband got there to pick me up. He was such a sweetheart. (The driver, not the ex husband, LOL!)

I miss chivalry.

Ours was West 7. I do vaguely remember the adults raising a fuss because the phone company added another number to our phone number. Hey, it was Seattle, place was booming, lots of new people needing phones.

I remember a brief time when my adoptive folks had a party line. Us kids were banned from answering the phone then, in case it wasn't for us. When we got our own line again, it was back to good manners answering it.

These days, it's only good manners depending on who the caller is, thanks to caller ID. Some folks just get blocked instead, like scammers and polls.
