LOL, Anyone else have this happen? Tinkering with a flavor, and you perfect another flavor. I have just perfected "Dirty Socks"

Dirty sock is most definitely my first few number of attempts mixing my own juice. Found out no matter how I much I wanted a recipie to work, 6 tinkering attempts later, it sometimes just gives you dirty socks.

But I at least I learned a lot of lessons. Like joy and FA strawberry is just never going to work...and if you are looking for dirty socks, well I can send you the notes for sure.

Too much FA banana adds "eau de sweat" to dirty socks. ;)

LOL, I've been making juice since I started vaping, and I can usually salvage a mistake. I was working on a "Pop Deez/Cracker Jack Clone" that I like. I and was little low low on Caramel. I thought no biggie, I've got 250ml bottle of Cinnamon Roll, I'll just throw a little of that at it. My clone went instantly to something that resembled dirty socks. It's happened before, and I'm sure it will happen again. I had the forum open and it made me laugh, because I know it happens to a lot of us. Some of my favorites are "Dirty Socks", "Chemical Spill", "Muddy Water", "Rotten Buttermilk", and "Raw Sewage." I never add nic until I know the recipe, so it's not a costly mistake, just a WTF?

I use to add 1-2% CAP NY Cheesecake to bad mixes to fix them up.
Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.
At least I could vape some of them without having to hit the drain:eek:.

I bought 120ml of Caps Vanilla custard (Rave reviews) thinking 'if' I'm a custard guy I will have plenty on hand... Nope. I smell and taste fresh vomit and newborn babies. Oh well it does add body in small percentages .5-2% at most. Gonna take a while to kill that much at this rate... true story.

I can do Caps V1, or V2 at 17% single flavor all day. After 5 days it turns a gold color, and smooths out. I would definitely try it before I wrote it off.

Yeah, a steep may do it for you, as Bucky stated. Mine, mixed on November 24th, is orange headed for red. I'm not crazy about it as a standalone but it certainly has merits as a base.

Mine turns gold. I wonder what is causing the orange, headed to red? I have never seen Cap's V1, or V2 go red. Your mix is 30 days old, I would expect a translucent gold color.

Hmmmm ... I wish I could scrounge a picture from the forum. I think gold is more unusual than a rosy hue or reddish-orange color. OTOH, if I'm wrong, I'll add it to the list of all the other times .... :D

LOL, a translucent orange, may be a better description, but I have definitely not seen red in 30 days. I love custard, maybe I just like thinking it is gold. This is 2 weeks 15% V1, 2% DDL, 3mg Nic

"Orange" like this? Had this one since April and it's 12mg, more than twice what I normally vape now, needs to meet the drain. But juices with higher nic content will turn darker over time.

Definitely orange-gold! :)

Thanks, Teresa. :)
SailCat...Off topic, I lived on a 40' Island Packet for 8 years, and love sailing. You definitely put the lime in the coconut. Like your Avatar

Hehe ... I know nothing about sailing nor do I know what an Island Packet is (though I would intuitively infer that it's a boat, right?).

I've been online since, well for a while. When called upon to pick a username the first time, I just typed SailCat due to a memory at that moment of an old (like me) Jonathan Winters monolog. It stuck. 'Named my graphic business the same. Registered the domain over 17 years ago. 'Guess I'll keep it but it sure as hell don't make me any more of a sailor.

'Sorry for the misunderstanding; I'm sure you hoped to find a kindred ... and you have. We're vapers, after all! :)

I have 3 batches all different recipes steeping still. Read that it keeps smoothing up to a month, I have 7 days before I get to that point in which I will be trying them again.

Edit: I REALLY hope I like at least one of them, you sub ohm a 17% flavor mix?

I do sub-ohm my custard at about 80 watts. You should have a good idea now as to flavor. If your juice is too strong, add in some VG that's at the same Nic level as your juice, to bring the flavor % down, and adjust.

This is my steeping motto: Good gets excellent after steeping, OK sometimes becomes good after steeping. Shit will taste like steeped shit after steeping....

I agree with that 99.9%, i always try a mix fresh made and if its so so most of the time its smoother so so steeped with the exception of a 1 or 2 that blossomed after 15+ days but tasted like road kill straight after mixing.

I did make a custard recipe a member posted that had Caps Custard V1 at 9% and i made it and it gaged me and my dog smelled it and has been missing ever since :p so that's why i asked about the 17%.. I'm pretty sure that would put me in the hospital lol.. But taste is subjective/to each there own as long as we are not on the Cigs. I plan on pushing through to see if its a flavor you have to work toward but i just say its not for me.

Custard is sort of a like it or you don't thing. I'm that way about things like sweet tart flavors. They taste good couple times, then no way. LOL, I recently tried Glacier, If someone recommends this for an all day vape, there is something wrong. It is the most intense menthol that you could possibly imagine. But people buy it.
