Hello! Did I read correctly that the x cube 2 is upgradeable from 160 watts to 180 watts? Is this a good mod?

I have had a xcube II since last october. It has been a good device. Pain in the but to get the tc working correctly but it has been super reliable and a great daily driver mod. I run both samsung 25r's and authentic Sony vct5's and this thing rocks with either.

The upgrade is pretty easy and straight forward. They have an app that runs the upgrade for you. Mine upgraded with no issues. Also, all upgrades for TC modes like ti and ss are free. No more paying for that!

If you can pick one up for $40... I wouldn't be upset at all. Pay more and you can find better mods like Sigele and some others.

What made you look at the xcube II?

I like that it has more wattage than my sigelei 150 watt tc! It looks good. I also like that I already have a bunch of vtc5's that I can use. If I was to get a wismec rx200 i would have to buy new batteries

Same boat. I use the Xcube as a backup device right now. I got a Lavabox DNA200 for Christmas and that is what I carry everywhere. Battery life gets me through the day but I can also always charge it at any point since I sit at a computer all day...

Anywho, I want to pickup a Wismex DNA200 or maybe even the rx200. Still trying to decide on that one. I didn't get one when I got my Lavabox only because the good deals on them didn't come out until the new year and I didn't want to have to drop another $20-$30 on new batteries on top of the price of the mod. I think though come tax return time, I will give my Lavabox to the wife and get a Wismex DNA200.

Honestly... if you are wanting to do TC, I wouldn't get the Xcube II. It "works" but there are other devices that actually do it and do it better. I have poured through the forums and talked with many people that have the Xcube II or had one and not one person has ever gotten them to fire correctly. Mine works in TC with SS coils, but it is always erratic with the temp that it hits. I have it set at 500 F... doing 2 sec or 3 sec pulls from it, the device will hit 300-350 F and sometimes hop up to 400-450 F but is never consistent. Only thing I find consistent with the device is the solid feel in the hand, good weight, fits my hand nicely, and VW hits solid over and over. So in my opinion... it is really only a functional VW mod... not going to recommend it for TC though.

I just don't use tc but I want that option to be available if needed! I'm glad you said something about it not firing correctly!

Yeah, I wasn't big into TC when I bought it but wanted the option. I found that it is a great VW device but very lack luster with TC. That is why I got a DNA mod. I know there are many other TC mods out there I could have gotten but I wanted to see the hype.

If I could go back to when I got the Xcube II... I would have spent the extra $20 and gotten the IPV 3li and called it a day. I probably wouldn't have bought the Lavabox if I had gotten that. I just didn't listen to the people I was talking to in the forums.

Unless you are getting an Xcube II on the cheap, look else to keep your options open with TC and upgrades. Upgrades to the Xcube II can be scary for some. I have been lucky, but I have read many horror stories about upgrades going wrong causing the device to not work until a process of trying to get the device to respond to getting firmware on or bricking the mod and having to send it back to Smok... which people were waiting 2-3 months before getting them back... BAH!

I have the Smok X cube II and I love it. I haven't had any issues with it and I love the customization of the device.Probably the main reason I love it is because of my arthritis. I have the Joyetech Cuboid and I personally don't really like it and I'm already looking to sell it.

One thing I do love about the Xcube is the huge fire button.

It may sound from my post that I don't like the mod. I do like it a lot but I have not sold it. I have had people ask to buy it with the skin I have on it. I just never let it go. I am going to sell it off now that I have my lavabox working the way I want.

Gonna have to post.

Lots of better mods out there now for X Cube money IMO.
When I sell mine I might 30-40 tops. Another reason I never wanted to sell it. Had been a great rda device and backup tank mod when running kanthal coils.

Just a heads up. About 2 weeks ago I bought the Wismec DNA200 for $113 shipped from the USA (ecig.com with a coupon code that's on Vapor Joes). I actually like it more than I thought I would. It's surprising small for a three 18650 mod and rather comfortable in hand. It is however heavier than my other DNA200 mods.

Cheers,
Steve

Edit. I just checked and it's now out of stock, but they seem to restock quickly. I also added a link to where the deal was listed in my post above. I should have checked first.

That is my next mod. I have thought about getting the sx to try it out now dna style but figured I will wait for more to come in Stock at that near 100 price and get one. I love my lavabox because it is pretty much a stealth device.

I would like the battery life of the 3 18650s vs the 900 lipo, but I honestly can't hate. I am always near a pc or charging port or have my battery brick charger and the lavabox will pass through so I can vape while I charge. Works out well.

Have any of you guys with an X Cube II used the custom power mode? I just got me one this week, and I was thinking about playing around with that. I was hoping to hear from someone who has tried it already first.

Sorry, I never messed with that mode. I just used vw and tc modes.

By custom Power Mode, do you mean the Min/Soft/Normal/Hard/Max feature?

Yes I use this, and it's rather nice to have depending on the builds you make. It gives a Power Boost/Buck for a short period of time (1.5 seconds) :

Min - 10% Power Reduction
Soft - 5% Power Reduction
Normal - No Power Buck/Boost
Hard - 5% Power Increase
Max - 10% Power Increase

If that is what you mean, then I used these as well. I always had min set to Hard and on occasional heavy builds in RDA's, I would use Max. Really made a good difference and helped to reduce ramp time on heavy builds.

That's something different. This is inside the app on your phone. I went ahead and played around with it. From what I can tell, you can set specific power levels for a certain duration in a minimum of one second intervals. For example, I could set it to fire at 65 watts for one second, then drop to 55 watts for two seconds, then drop to 50 watts for one second, etc up to five seconds. You can do the same with voltage. I guess it is a way to decrease your ramp up time, and maybe even help prevent dry hits?

Oh, I have no idea about that, as the app never works for me  (5 different phones from different OEM, and the app never stays connected for more than a minute, with more than just one X-Cube2 as well).

That sounds like a neat little feature, would be better if I could do it from the mod itself though. Having to constantly connect to the app every time you want to change those settings sounds incredibly tedious.

The only thing I've used the app for is the TC upgrades, once I did that I got rid of the app because it just never worked (even after 3 different updates ). Still a great mod though, love my X-Cube2 :p

Mine seems to work fine. I do have the firmware they just released last week and the newest version of the app, though. And it's on a Note 5. It would be much better if you could do it from the mod, or at least save your settings on there so you could switch back to it without the app. It would also be nice if there was a custom TCR mode so you didn't have to pick from Ni, Ti, or SS to adjust the TCR.

I haven't tried the most recent update of the app (if it's come out within the past month or 2), but I'm on 1.093 firmware also. I have heard of a few people where the app works correctly, but not for me, so I had no clue about that little feature (I'm using an LG G4 currently, so it's not like the phone can't handle it, also tried a 2x HTC, 2x Samsung, 1x Sony, and 3x iPhones, it's just not in my cards apparently lol).
Custom TCRs would be nice, but I won't hold that against them, since they were one of the first to even offer TCR adjustments of any sort, but granted, it is sort of inconvenient.
I might have to re-install the app and see if it'll cooperate now, I'll take a look at this feature tonight, see what I can do :D

They have 1.094 out now, too. Not sure what all changed. It said it has less of a delay when pressing the fire button and a couple other things. I didn't have 1.093 long enough to be able to make a comparison

That would have been an awesome feature. A way to get TC style to work with kanthal and nichrome for that device. I got rid of min in Jan so I never went past update 1.093. I might have kept it longer with knowing about that feature coming out, but I replaced it with an Hohm Wrecker G2 Limited Edition.

So it appears these are the updates features:

V1.094 - IMPROVED FEATURES
1. Reduced the vaping delay, amazing vapor will be enjoyed once you fire the button
2. Improved safety performance for the mod
3. Fixed the error:NO SECRET KEY

I would like to know what the "safety" updates were for, what do these new safeties affect exactly? and what is the "NO SECRET KEY" thing about, never got this error message before.........I kinda want to know what this secret key unlocks hahahaha
