Perfect Storm?

I have been making my own juice for a 4 months now and have had wonderful success. Some I haven't liked so much but none that were terrible enough to throw out. That just recently changed and am curious as to what just happened. I recently bought some CAP Vanilla Custard V2 and have made a couple test batches with it alone @ 10% and with a few other cream and vanilla additions. They all have been good and I especially liked the deeper richer versions when I started to add in the creams and vanillas. With that, and I should have known better, I jumped into a 30ml batch of my "dream" custard. All of the ingredients have been used in the past as base notes for many of my Fruit & Cream recipies and even a French Vanilla Cream recipe, all dialed in at their 3rd or 4th versions. Let me just post what I built and then I'll divulge the issue.
CAP Vanilla Custard V2..... 6%
TFA Vanilla Bean Gelato.....4%
TFA Vanilla Swirl..………….2%
TFA Whipped Cream...........2%
TFA DX Bavarian Cream.....1%
FA Marshmallow..................1%

I think I created the perfect storm for the dreaded Butryc Acid throat hit. I Tasted it today after three days of it resting and while it tastes really good, after the 3'rd or 4th drag there is this acidic, scratchy throat sensation that begins to build. After about the 7th pull it's quite unpleasant and lingers long after. Very reminiscint to the sensation in your throat after vomiting. Water doesn't even remove it. What happened? I've read about some of the BA issues that other people are having, though most say "tastes like vomit" which mine definitively doesn't. Ultimately I'm thinking that the combination of ingredients I used must of pushed the BA level too high. I know that TFA VBG does contain BA, but they don't state that they use it in any of the other flavorings of theirs that I used. So I think I'm left with the new kid on the block, the CAP Vanilla Custard V2. It tasted fine by it's self at 10%, but maybe combined with 4% TFA VBG it tipped the scale? I don't know, I guess I'm just looking for some guidance as to how not to do this again.
Thanks for the supoort.

Custards, especially cap v1 or v2 need time to age. Some say 1-2 weeks. Some will say 4 weeks. Especially if you don't do anything like heat for a period of time in a crock pot or use an ultrasonic cleaner ect.

I'm curious if you only purchased V1 previously. If so, you may be missing those flavor-enhancing chemicals which are absent in V2.

The Vanilla Bean Gelato should be dropped or replaced with some French Vanilla IMO.
Or just try it at 1% instead.
And the Vanilla Swirl can go up to 3% easily.

I've never used the v1 so wouldn't know the difference.

Are you saying this from a flavor perspective or to address the possible BA issue I experienced?

Where did you read that people are having issues with BA? Just curious...

It's out there. Both on this forum and ELR. It comes up the most when comparing cap custard v1 to v2.

I don't run into that issue, but I think at a higher percent the ba flavor comes out.

Lol. I have read so many threads. Don't have any links handy, but if you type in butric acid it does come up. If you type in puke flavor butric acid comes up as well as joy FA.

I can taste the ba in there, I wouldnt say puke, but I havnt mixed cap v2 above 6% with excellent results.

Does anyone have the % of BA actually contained in any of my above flavors? Regardless I'll let this bottle steep for the next 2weeks, taste it again and if things haven't improved I'll start diluting it at certain percentages and figure out where the thresh hold is. Maybe start at taking the percentages down by 25%. Essentially adding 1.25ml unflavored juice to a 5ml sample which should drop my VC v2 & VBG to 4.5% and 3% respectively test and go from there..

Ahhh... Well all that for nothing. Did cheat and tasted it last night, being about 1.5weeks and the nasty throat hit is gone. Completely. Yet another confirmation that steeping works. While I really like the final rich notes in this recipe, I like the flexibility of having a shake & vape recipe so I'll probably reduce the VBG and increase the VS as suggested above. Thanks all.

You will find while doing DIY you keep a few recipies that are shake and vape and a few that require a steeping period.

For me atleast I have enough mixes sitting in my vape drawer that everything steeps for Atleast 1-2 weeks anyways

When my vape stash gets down to 4-5 bottles I start mixing up some fresh ones.
I usually make up 10-15 mixes at a time, some new ones, and some old favorites.
Everything gets a good steep time normally.
