I have been making my own juice for a 4 months now and have had wonderful success. Some I haven't liked so much but none that were terrible enough to throw out. That just recently changed and am curious as to what just happened. I recently bought some CAP Vanilla Custard V2 and have made a couple test batches with it alone @ 10% and with a few other cream and vanilla additions. They all have been good and I especially liked the deeper richer versions when I started to add in the creams and vanillas. With that, and I should have known better, I jumped into a 30ml batch of my "dream" custard. All of the ingredients have been used in the past as base notes for many of my Fruit & Cream recipies and even a French Vanilla Cream recipe, all dialed in at their 3rd or 4th versions. Let me just post what I built and then I'll divulge the issue.
CAP Vanilla Custard V2..... 6%
TFA Vanilla Bean Gelato.....4%
TFA Vanilla Swirl..………….2%
TFA Whipped Cream...........2%
TFA DX Bavarian Cream.....1%
FA Marshmallow..................1%
I think I created the perfect storm for the dreaded Butryc Acid throat hit. I Tasted it today after three days of it resting and while it tastes really good, after the 3'rd or 4th drag there is this acidic, scratchy throat sensation that begins to build. After about the 7th pull it's quite unpleasant and lingers long after. Very reminiscint to the sensation in your throat after vomiting. Water doesn't even remove it. What happened? I've read about some of the BA issues that other people are having, though most say "tastes like vomit" which mine definitively doesn't. Ultimately I'm thinking that the combination of ingredients I used must of pushed the BA level too high. I know that TFA VBG does contain BA, but they don't state that they use it in any of the other flavorings of theirs that I used. So I think I'm left with the new kid on the block, the CAP Vanilla Custard V2. It tasted fine by it's self at 10%, but maybe combined with 4% TFA VBG it tipped the scale? I don't know, I guess I'm just looking for some guidance as to how not to do this again.
Thanks for the supoort.
