What batteries should I use for a mechanical mod..

Hey all, I recently bought a Stingray x mechanical mod clone, i already have a box mod (iPV D2) with two LG HG2 batteries. The LG's are only 20amps and i was looking more so 22-30 amps. I don't really plan to go under .15ohms but i want to make sure im vaping safely. A follow up question, how do I know when I should change out or charge my battery in my Mechanical mod? Will it just not fire as fast/quicker/heat up as fast or do i have to be cautious and change them out after a certain amount of time. I don't want to keep using it and firing my mod when the battery is almost drained and something bad to happen that could potentially hurt my mod, the RDA or myself.

Any help to both of these questions would be great! Thanks!

First step to vaping safely is to not go to 0.15 ohm. You want a 30 amp battery like a VTC 3 or 4, and I'd still keep the resistance in the 0.2 to 0.3 range to start.

You have a good ohm meter to test your builds on, correct?

Yeah when I build I tend to aim towards .25 ohms-.45 ohms. .22 is the lowest I've gone. And yes I just bought a new ohm reader since my 5$ one craped itself. Get what you pay for I guess.

If i keep firing my mod when the battery is drained quite low will it keep straining my battery or like you said flavor will begin to eliminate and it'll just not work as well compared to a good charge/].

Vapor production will start to fall off when the batteries lose their charge - but you can permanently damage them if you discharge too low. Do you have a multimeter? When I first started using mechs I'd install a battery, take a dozen vapes, then pull my battery and test, repeating until the battery dropped to 3.6 and re-charging. After a couple days I'd know by feel when the battery needed to be changed.

Sony VTC4

...or LG HB4 or HB6 if you need a real 30 amp and are willing to give up some runtime

Those have the most amp headroom that I know of.

You can estimate runtime on Steam-engine to get an idea

Yeah I have a multimeter around here somewhere. Thanks for the advice!

I'm not an expert, I'm sure we've read the same tests and posts by Mooch.

Liion wholesal
e has B6 for 5 bucks. I don't know how much of a difference the B4 would make, but I'd just try out the 6, and if the 4 comes back in stock in the future you'd have a good idea of how they're going to perform.

Eciggity had the B4's for 7$ a piece, I bought two. This should do the trick. Thanks for the help!
