The buttons and switch on the Sigelei are - for me - more comfortable than the recessed buttons of the Hana clone.

The single magnet is definitely not enough to secure the back cover, so I used one of the extra screws provided and placed it in the lower right corner of the cover.

In addition, the Sigelei's edges and corners are noticeably sharper than those on the clone, so the feeling will take a little getting used to.

It's the Smoktech RSBT. Perfect RBA choice for a newbie builder like me. Bottom fill? Fuhgeddaboutit!!! The o-ring on the base assembly makes a nice seal with the pyrex tube, so top filling is the way to go with this sucker.

So many questions... Are the 510 threads brass or SS? Which do you find more comfortable in the hand between this and the Hana?

No idea on the thread material. Per www.sigelei.com, the overall construction is aluminum alloy, so I doubt the connector threading is stainless steel.

Still getting used to the feel in the hand, but it's growing on me.

The one real bone I have to pick with this mod:

There is an adjustable copper screw in the connector that fully detaches ... WTF?!?! Bit of a pain to get it back in if that happens.

My one piece of advice: adjust the bottom pin (or screw) on your tank, not the mod's connector.

Nice looking mod, I haven't tried a RSBT but it looks good.

Having the exact same experience you are! Taking a bit to get used to, but loving it more each day. Button is easy and a lot more comfortable in this one and size is wonderful! Just fits in my hand better than any of the others. Think this may end up being my main go to mod. Very happy with this one so far!

Another plus that I haven't experienced since owning the MVP v2: the recharge LED on the Sigelei actually turns green after a full charge!

Also, with the brushed metal, there's distinctly less of that filmy residue sensation on the box's surface you often get while vaping (compared to the Cloupor Hana clone).

I loved my MVP v1, but the v2 has a terrible button as far as I am concerned. It is way too firm and a pain to push! This Sigelei button is wonderful! Easy to find and easy to push. Can you believe I haven't even recharged mine yet!! Still over half full and I have been using it exclusively for well over 24 hours. I do not consider myself to be a light vaper either! Go thru about 3ml a day and this is lasting a nice amount of time. I always put a wrap on my mods, so just waiting for Jwraps to have these. The finish though is nice on this and not a fingerprint magnet or slippery. I am loving that I don't have to double click to get it out of sleep mode!!

Speaking of fingerprint Magnet......
Wrap on the Groove in your Pic ?
Just got a Groove2, and I know I got do something with it.

Thoughts.....

Groove is a darn nightmare when in comes to fingerprints!! Just awful! The wrap in the picture is from Jwraps and they do anything from patterns, to patina looks to just clear wraps so that the finish shows thru. Patina wrap is in my sig picture on the Hana clone. Keep on eye on their thread here or FB page for sales. I wrap all my mods so they don't get scratched or banged up. With the Groove it was an absolute must because it looks like crap all the time from all the finger prints. Will be wrapping the Sigelei too but it really doesn't need it. I just like the patterns now after 5 years of dealing with black and silver mods! Just sick to death of boring black and silver:)

Not sure if you mean the box getting hot or if you mean it not being accurate and being set too high? I haven't actually put this on a meter as of yet and also haven't tried sub ohming it as of yet. But just using a mega aero on it at 12 watts, seems to be pretty right on just by the taste and performance. My IPV does fire hotter than the setting, so that one I have to turn down by about half a watt in order for it to be where I expect. This one so far, seems to be pretty right on, at least by taste. I just haven't done all that much playing with it as of yet. Will let you know how it goes with a lower ohm and sub ohm coil once I get one on it. If you are talking actual heat, I would think if you are subohming the heat transfer might get it a bit warm due to the really flat top and very flat connection?

Just did some meter testing. Seems to read the higher ohm coils pretty right on. Maybe a tad higher on the device over the meter. The lower ohm coils I am getting a lower reading on my meter than I am on the device. So it would be providing a bit more power than expected. So in answer to your question, it does seem to be running a little higher and hotter than expected, but so far, not by much. I haven't found it to be noticeable as of yet, like I do with the IPV. Hope this helped. Will play some more with it tomorrow and report back. I find it to be quite comfortable in the hand. Edges could be rounded a bit, but even with the sharper edges, I don't find it to be bad. Nice to have it smaller for female hands!! All these others are noticeably bigger and not as comfortable for me. Would rather deal with sharper edges than larger any day!

Thanks. Was referring to the box feeling a bit warmer than expected. Appreciate your detailed feedback :)

Think you may be getting heat transfer from the base of the atty. Darn thing is really flat and no air flow there. If you are sub ohming and your atty is getting hot, I would guess this is the issue. Mine has not gotten beyond luke warm and that is only if I am vaping quite a bit at one time. I would feel how hot your atty is getting and confirm this is the issue if you notice this again. Don't want your battery itself getting hot! Nice thing with the design, if you don't have that bottom screw in, you can easily flip the door to the side and get to the battery fast. So if you have any concerns, I would take out that bottom screw so you do have quick access to the battery if need be. With all these new things, caution is always wise!

This is exactly why I dont have an aneurysm if my atty does not sit flush! a 1mm gap is actually a good thing when you run hot builds

May have jumped the gun a bit and thought I had better give folks a heads up. I am ready to cry!!! Last night I noticed my screen was blinking on and off. I pushed the button to see if this would stop it. All of a sudden my atty started firing and I wasn't touching a thing!! Mind you, I woke up at 2 am and discovered all this. Had I not woken up, this could have been really bad. Immediately took the atty off and all was fine. Battery was not hot. Put the mega aero back on and without a touching thing, it was firing again. OV has suggested I try some other atties and another battery. Will see if this does anything, but figured I should let folks know! Was using a Sony vtc5 battery and a mega aero tank when all this happened. 4 days of this working perfectly, then suddenly this? This could just be a total fluke but because this is such a safety issue, figured I should let others know. Will update once I try some other batteries and other atties. Really want to cry at this point! I love this darn thing!

Eric over at Origin Vape has been wonderful so far! He says they will take care of this. They have been really great, so have no reason to believe otherwise at this point. Have been very impressed with OV!! I just did as he suggested and tried some other atties on it. It was not auto firing with these, but the battery bar was jumping up and down even when it wasn't being fired. Then I put in a AW battery with the dominator atty and it started to auto fire again without touching a thing. I am done messing with this now as it is getting to the point of dangerous. Don't want to push my luck. So all batteries are out now! Something is definitely going on with mine. I would suggest keeping an eye on the battery bar and make sure isn't jumping up and down and if a unit isn't going to sleep mode, be very careful!! Thank goodness my stuff makes a decent amount of noise when being fired and that I am a very light sleeper! The first indicator I had that there was a problem is that my device was not going into sleep mode and the screen was constantly on. Guess I am back to using my IPV and hana clones. Damn it! This really was becoming my favorite go to device.

The + pin in the bottom of the aerotank mega and giant 510 and the - hollow screw post are a very tiny tolerance... These caused issues with some of the early Seven-30 mods especially, since those had a problem with the 510 screw getting off center... I either had that or got the mod too hot with the .8 ohm coils in the giant... So you might want to check your 510 pin...

I got mine in on Saturday. I had told Eric about my travel plans after finding out about the slight delay in shipping. He was kind enough to upgrade my shipping for me. When I asked about what to do if it didn't make it in time for me to leave, he then offered to ship another to a my hotel. After waiting & waiting for a tracking update, it finally got into Anchorage on Friday. At that point is was a matter of being delivered before the early Saturday mail run stops. According to tracking, it was delivered at 12:48pm....barely any time to spare. Even though it took 4 days on a 1-3 day shipping option, I don't care. All that mattered to me was getting it before flying out. This is what great customer service is and I think a lot of businesses need to take a page out of Eric/Origin's book, & do the same thing...or at least try to match it. Like I've said before, you guys have got my business for life when it comes to some of this new stuff coming out.

As far as the mod goes, I like it. It fits in the hand well & is pretty comfortable even with the semi sharp edges. Also compact enough to easily fit in my back pocket and short enough that it won't fall over if the table is bumped. Right now I can't/won't go over 15w. I'm using an aerotank for now, which is pretty nice. But I am limited on coils on hand during my trip, so I don't want to push my luck. I tried it on a fresh rebuild in my Pulse, no go. It burns the wick bad. So I'm gonna have to work on my coil wrapping skills. It worked fine on my vamo; but at higher watts, pretty much all the imperfections get magnified. No biggie there, I'll get better over time. I like the battery door, haven't had any issues with the magnet. I'll probably still end up upgrading it and/or adding another later on. Overall, I am happy with it & glad I chose this as my first high wattage mod.

I concur, Eric at Origin Vape is a true gem. Got my IPV50 there and recently the Holmes and the Fatty RDA and loving them both! I do want to try and drill out the middle air hole on the Fatty deck though. But if you like a little tighter draw, this Fatty is an awesome vape. Sorry to go OT :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I think you may be right, that it is something with the center pin. Eric already said that the engineers are rethinking their idea of using a soft copper center pin in the mod. I probably would have just not used the aero on it if that fixed the issue, but my Dominator atty did the exact same thing. Just waiting to hear back from Eric now. I have been very impressed by Origin Vapes and just hope they keep up the great job they have been doing. That is the way to really stand out in this business!

Was absolutely right, Eric at OV really stepped up and is handling this. Just so others are not concerned, this problem has since been resolved. Mine just happened to be one of the very first, before they realized it had this problem. Don't think others have anything to worry about. Am really happy with OV and Eric!! Looking forward to getting my new one and if all goes well as I expect it to, will be getting another one! This really is a great mod!

Just kind of an out-loud type of question, not really expecting a response: I wonder if Sigelei would actually do a recall on existing 50w devices to replace the pin; or - more likely - if customers be required to buy an entirely new mod?

Uncanny timing ... Eric just sent out this mass email (applies to folks like @emsmom only) ...
Dear Valued Customer,

I have been informed that Sigelei sent out a massive amount of defective silver units. The units that we shipped out to customers were a part of this batch. Some of you receiving this email have already reached out to us but we need to ensure that everyone is notified. If your mod is not working as advertised, please email us and send your unit back so that we can replace it ASAP. If you unit is functioning properly, please do not send it back. It is quite possible that not all units were affected, and by sending back a working unit it will delay the entire replacement process for us and for those customers who were indeed affected.

The problems we have heard so far is that the 510 grub screw is stuck in its place or rotating along with the entire 510 connector, and resistance readings are jumping around making for an unpleasant vaping experience. If your unit has these issues or any others, please let us know via email what the issues are and please send the unit back to:

Origin Vape

address redacted

Please send the unit back to us as soon as possible. We are trying our best to round up all of the defective units and get this process started so as to receive the replacements in a timely fashion. My representative will likely not send our replacements until I have inventoried the broken ones and shipped all of the defective units back to the service center. Once all are returned, we will process them and send out replacement units. Right now, Sigelei confirmed that black 50 watt mods work without any issues, and it seems the black units we received and shipped out did not have any issues yet. Unfortunately, without delaying the replacement process from Sigelei, we are unable to offer a swap for another silver unit as it is still risky. Everyone whose mod does not work will get a black replacement unit.

If we already spoke via email or telephone about the problem, please disregard this email. We are incredibly sorry about this inconvenience, and will work with haste to resolve this issue. We can expect the replacements to come back within two weeks, hopefully sooner. Knowing how many times we have already been delayed by Sigelei, I am uncomfortable giving you a shorter time frame at this point.

I would like to apologize to everyone who has been affected, it is very unfortunate that after such a long wait Sigelei did not take the time to QC these units properly before releasing them. The 100 watt has already hit the market as we can see from various YouTube reviews and it is unbelievable that Sigelei pushed through the 100 watt to market while dedicating far less resources to this mod, it appears. Despite our 50 watts being preordered far in advance before the 100 watt were announced, it is disappointing that my customers who have preordered the 50 watt do not have a working unit while there are people out there holding working 100 watt mods right now.

Despite what is happening in the broader perspective of the company, I am very fortunate that my rep has been kind enough to me to take care of this issue without question, is very apologetic about the trouble, and will handle the returns with priority.

Best,

Eric B. Rubin

i got that email too. its safe to say that mine is affected. on an authentic kanger 2.2 ohm coil, it'll read anywhere from 2.2 to 3.3 under load. ive had it read 3.8 while sitting. other than that, no other problems. im still liking it though.

I have a possible solution for those of you experiencing widely fluctuating ohm readings on your device (I'm in the same boat):

Unscrew the copper pin by 1 1/2 to 2 revolutions, then put on your tank as you normally do. This will work if you use clearomizers like the Kanger Aerotank or Aspire Nautilus and if you don't want to mess with the tank's pin.

If your tank has a pin that can be adjusted by a screwdriver - and you know that your tank won't leak if you adjust this - then you can unscrew the tank's pin by 1 1/2 to 2 revolutions and not adjust the device's pin.

Don't worry about a resulting gap between the device and tank. You just want the connection to be secure and working. Who cares how it looks?

Anyway, this has been working for me since yesterday evening. I'll give it the rest of the day to make sure this still works. I think I'd rather rather live with a small inconvenience than deal with shipping and waiting at this point.

Since my last update, I still sometimes see the ohms readings get a bit jumpy. But please keep in mind that here in SoCal, we've been having some incredibly hot weather (90s to 100s) - with a bit of humidity mixed in - over the last 10+ days (if I recall correctly). Today will be in the 80s. When I've been outside or don't have the AC turned on indoors, the readings can get erratic. I often have to dial down the watts to make sure that I don't get too many volts dumped into the atomizer. Inside with the AC, things are much more stable. So I think the device is environment-sensitive.

Now, I haven't had this issue with the Cloupor Hana clone, but then again the weather hasn't been so extreme when I've used that particular device.

However, I do think the design of the Cloupor's connector is better than the one on the Sigelei: no screwing/unscrewing required on the Cloupor.

I love my black verson of this mod. My only gripe is the 510 and I would have to say it should be a bigger screw. I bet there is a better screw we could get in there for more complete contact. The box is sharp too but I got used to it.

I love the mod and Origin Vape rocks!

I've noticed this with my black one. I've been keeping records of it. Typically, it bounces around from actual ohms up to about a .4ohm high. This causes the voltage to change significantly. Here are my notes from the biggest variance I experienced!

Friday Spet 12 2014 8:20pm (day I got it)
read my .4 as a 1.7 and fired it 7.4V (set to 31watts)... .4ohm @ 7.4V an actual 137watts it was HOT HOT HOT vapor!!! checked atomizer tightness (was fine) and feather fired it until it read .4ohm again (about 4 short button presses).

Last night it was firing my .4 at about 100watts (reading as a .8 or .9) for a good 20 min!!!

Trust me it was intense and a bit scary!!!

Most of you know this, but especially with drippers. After a new build, once you have been vaping for about a day, go back and snug the post screws. After a few heatings, especially at high power/low resistance, the screws can loosen and cause resistance reading fluctuations due to the wires not being properly read.

Unfortunately, the fluctuations occur with clearos as well.
