I will take winter over summer any day, because I have allergies. My winter bills run around 700 a month and summer runs around 180. I wish I had gas, I am sure bill would be lower.
Ouch, that's a steep bill. My electric bill averages about $150-$160 all year round. I have an electric heat pump with propane back-up. It only burns propane when it's below freezing temps outside. I spend about $350 per year on propane. The unit is one of those 98% effecient units. When the temperature averages around 75-76 degrees, which is like 2 months per year, my electric bill comes in under $100! I couldn't imagine having a $700 electric bill...hell my mortgage is only $790!!

my oil bill alone in the winter is about 800 every two months, throw in electric at 200 a month, cable and internet at 120 a month, two cell phones, is almost two hundred, it gets out of hand, i fucking hate this state...and then the property and school tax, i think im gonna go throw up ill be back

I only have electric, I need to look into a heat pump, I know it is not that now.

Good morning @Donald Bickers
Yeah @Taver13 we've discussed it before...definitely a prime spot where you're at. A spot like that around here would cost a million or more...but your taxes would be about $700-$800 a year. However we don't have all the services some of you have. I know everywhere is different in what is provided. A lot of places around here have well water and septic, but if you do have water and sewer service, you must pay for those extra, averages around $500 a quarter from what I understand. I personally have well water and a septic system, so I don't know exactly. Also, we pay for our own trash pickup @ $65 per quarter, I know a lot of locals in NY and NJ trash pickup is provided in your taxes, not sure about elsewhere in the US of A. Most towns don't have police, just State Police...the towns that do have police, they are limited in their jurisdiction to just inside town limits. For example, I live in Dagsboro, but in a rural part, not in town...Dagsboro has 2 police offices, but they have no jurisdiction on my property because I don't live within town limits. If I call 911, they might respond if there isn't a state boy close by, but the state boy will also show up. We don't have street lights on most streets or roads, only highways. Sounds funny I know...but that is a huge savings to the state...think about all the street lights in states like NY and NJ, and the electric bill associated with them...ironically, that's where A LOT of tax money goes, paying and maintaining those lights. School systems aren't the greatest around here, although they've gotten drastically better over the years. Sadly that is all going to the wayside due to this common core bullshit. Everywhere has its ups and downs I guess. I definitely couldn't afford to live where you are...my social security disability would just cover your taxes and leave me with a couple thousand left over. :(

i have alergies as well, i hate the spring, but fall is my favorite time of the year
Mine too! I love fall. I have allergies too but not terrible. I take an allergy pill and I'm good. I am most allergic to grass.

Taxes in this state are out of hand. The guy across the street from me pays 30,000 a year! Can you imagine? Granted he lives in a million dollar house but still.
We have no street lights. We are septic and well (country). No cops only state police. We have to pay for garbage pickup.

Yeah I have an electric heat pump as well but no propane back up, so when it gets below freezing is when it hurts me the most... that's when it gets up around 375... I've had months where my electric bill is only 85 bucks... heat pumps work great as long as it stays above like 40 lol

That's just crazy...what does all the tax money go to then? Will they drill you a new well if yours dries up, or replace your septic if it fails? I wouldn't be happy myself with that arrangement. $30,000 a year for nothing is...well bullshit!

Have to run out to post office and laundromat to wash this giant king-size comforter. It won't wash correctly in my washing machine. Wife's orders! Catch up with you all after awhile. I might login from the laundromat while I'm there as well...we'll see.

No they won't. My fathers septic got messed up and it was our responsibility to have a new leech field put in. Really our taxes go towards nothing I can figure out. And they go up every year. It just sucks.

i have water, but pay for it based on usage, but it starts at 35 a month for the service then the usage harge, sewer and garvageare taxed. we have county, and state police in my town but alot of towns around here also have local juridictions either cause they are high crime towns, or are a very rich area. on our taxes i get taxed for the police, and a seperate tax for the headquarters. what the fuck is up with that? my town alone has 4 firehouses, our roads are trashed cause the plow drivers suck, and they dont fix the potholes caused by them til like october, so they never have a chance to cure and settle before they get ripped up again. our police department is corrupt, as is our local government. most people in office on long island are mob connected.

I have heard that, wasn't sure if it was true or not. Now I know. Sucks. This state really drives people out with there bullshit taxes. We do have good roads, I guess that is a plus.

Satellite 115, cell phone 115, (take the trash to Dad's work), well water so no water bill or sewer bill, and property taxes are about 950 a year on 2.25 acres :D

Morning all, sorry I've been AWOL this weekend. We were out on a field expedition last Thursday through Saturday and I spent the whole day yesterday doing as little as possible lol. I miss anything exciting? I've got like 25 pages to go through lol

So I'm sitting in the laundroma...this is the first time in my life ever in one. We had laundry rooms in the dorms when I was in college, but they were much different. I'm trying to figure out this machine and a nice old lady comes over and helps me. Thankfully she was here, otherwise I probably wouldn't have figured it out on my own. She went on to inform me that regulars make fun of people like me. "People like me!" She explained that there's people who come in regularly and wash their clothes...either live somewhere without a washer/dryer, theirs is broke, or whatever...then there's people like me who just come in to wash our big blankets and/or comforters. Sheesh. I thought she was talking about people like me in regards to vaping, cause I'm certainly vaping while I'm waiting, chilling out on my tablet too. Went next door to Dollar Tree abound got a soda and a bag of chips...what a healthy lunch. :( Did you know you can get a 20oz bottle of soda at Dollar Tree for $1? I didn't know that until today...they're $1.79 everywhere else around here. Learn so much out and about today. :)

See I would rather run my ac than my heat... during the winter months my bill can get all the way up to 375 but during the summer keeping the house at 72 my bill never gets above 150...

Mornin' everyone!

You guys really took off running with the bill topic lol
I can keep my electric around 250 in the winter but in the summer it's out of control, jumps to like 350 easy, right now I am enjoying no heat no ac, so bills like 160 for as long as I can take it, "I have maybe a week before I give in...now I just run regular fans with windows open

and good morning :)

I have fan in almost every room.....humidity is bad but I am sure some of you guys have it way worst. I bought one of those big hard plastic tool sheds, so that will be fun putting together in the heat this week :(
