my PO is layin off me a bit, so i dont need to be home all the time, and im here at the inlaws more than my place, kinda sucks driving 20 minutes each way just to make an order or experiment, so i figure i should just move it back here. its anoying but a lot better than driving and wasting gas.

You must have great in-laws. I was married 4 times, and only once did I really like the in-laws.

Good morning people.
@MOMABEAR are y'all in the lower half of Louisiana? It looks like the heat advisories are pretty brutal there.

Yeah lower half about 40 miles north of Baton Rouge. It's just H O T here. Got a little rain yesterday but just wet the blades of brown crunchy grass that we have lol.

Yeah, I notice here when it's miserable, that a tiny little bit of rain makes it more miserable.

So many ppl this year have had air conditioners go out. It's good for repair guys lol. I just hope we don't get a hurricane this season cuz that's what happened when Katrina came through it was very hot before. And we are due for one...

No hurricanes!!! How bad were the effects of Katrina where you're at.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The actual storm wasn't that bad for us, but the fallout of ppl were horrible... We had to deal with a lot of displaced families that didn't want to leave and thought we should just take care of them forever lol. I hated the phrase" because of Katrina" they just thought everyone owed them.... Still do ... It was really bad...

I was glued to the news channels, it was so heart wrenching. There were some really nice condos that had been constructed right outside of our downtown. They were given shelter there. Bunch of them are still there. It's kind if a ghetto now.

The horror stories are never ending... So many bodies floating ppl lost so much... It was definitely devastating... But then you always have those that take advantage. FEMA paid prisoners at Angola because their home address was New Orleans it was so unorganized and chaotic. We ended up with a lot of children in our school system and they tryed to send New Orleans teachers to teach them because they were so far behind ours, but the teachers didn't want to work...

Y'all were so close to the destruction, I'm sure it was devastating the influx of people.

Yes just literally droves of them. And I live in a very giving community... And they took and took... I think the worst was the attitude of the ppl, not all but enough to make you sick...

They sent bus load after bus load of people here, and I'm sure that's a small percentage of what y'all got.

We had a 2 day delay on the interstate back then. Had a truck driver that said he only pulled over at night to sleep in his cab and to get from new Orleans to the other side of BR going to Lafayette which is a 2 hr drive 3hr with traffic he said it took 2 days of constantly sitting in traffic jams

I was in Texas when it happened and came back after and from Lafayette to BR it normally is 1hr it took us 8 hrs thankfully we had to turn before actually getting into baton rouge or it would have been longer

Yes they sent so many buses to Texas and we heard horror stories of what happened to some in the make shift shelters they made for them. We are still paying the bills of all those that left New Orleans

Lol growing up I always thought my dad was nuts... He'd send us all to the basement because of tornado warnings, and he'd go out on the front porch... now we just sit on the front porch together while my mom and my gf go to the basement lol

I remember doing that too. Funny it always involved a cigarette. Hadn't thought about that in a long time.

I live next door to mom and dad now, so anytime a storm comes, I get a call from dad and we head over there... dad and I stop by the kitchen to make a drink before heading to the porch... Some of my best memories are from sitting on that porch talking over thunder....

So funny you bring that up. Those were some great bonding experiences. I guess because everyone drops what they are doing, and gathers on the porch, or the basement.
