UPDATE: I will be ending the contest at 11:59 AM tomorrow, 10/3.

After winning the big VaporWatch contest, in the spirit of @VaporWatch, I would like to do a little giveaway of my own. The winner can choose any 30ml bottle of juice from vapingwatch.com. Also, I talked to Watch and he has volunteered to match my giveaway and give a second 30ml bottle to the winner. If you win, just PM me your address and the two flavors you want and I will place the order and Watch will mail it to you.

So here's how the contest works:
I'm a bit of a music geek, so the winner of this contest will be whoever here on VU has the best musical taste. I have made a list of my top 32 albums of all time. To enter, post your top 5 favorite albums. Each album/artist on my list has a corresponding value (based on a somewhat complex algorithm, see below). If something you name is on my list, you will earn the points. Whoever earns the most points wins!

Contest ends 10/3/2014 @ 11:59PM. I will do my best to post the results that weekend (my schedule is kind of crazy these days).

The algorithm:
My first overall ranked album is worth 32 points. My 32nd ranked album is worth 1 point.
You will also earn points for naming an artist on the list (even if the particular album you list is not on it). There are some artists that appear on my list multiple times. The artist value is the sum of all the album values by said artist on the list. Complicated? Maybe, but it's my contest!

Notes/disclaimers:
- If you know me in real life, you are disqualified (not sure if there's anyone on here that actually knows me).
- In the event of a tie, the winner will be whoever posted first.
- I am somewhat of a snob, so while there are some mainstream albums on the list, there is a chance that no one will earn any points. If that happens, then the winner of this contest will be based entirely on my subjective judgment of the albums listed.

Good luck everyone!

Cool contest! :) Here are a few albums that come to mind:

1. Carmina Burana - Carl Orff
2. Revolver - The Beatles
3. The Nutcracker Suite - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
4. The White Album - The Beatles
5. Rubber Soul - The Beatles

I was a band and orchestra geek, sang in choirs, and took dance lessons for a number of years. As a result, I have an eclectic taste in music.

Some great responses! I'm really happy with how quick people jumped in.
Just realized a flaw in my contest: I want to discuss everyone's answers but I can't since I don't want to skew anyone else's answers. I guess I have to wait til it's over :(

Hahaha yeah it's tough. It was tough to whittle a list down to 32 (seems like an arbitrary cutoff, but this was the number of albums I needed to include 25 total artists). It's killing me not to comment on the selections!

Well I'll comment on the selections then! Lol I see a lot of pretty awesome musical taste here! Looks like the Beatles are the most mentioned band, followed by Pink Floyd I think. Good stuff :) Well @bluraff3 , you can message me and say whatever you want. I can't enter, and I won't tell. :)

LOL, I know what you mean. I was wondering why it was Top 32, but now that you mention 25 artists... :)

You really have to be a math geek to be able to come up with this contest!

Sucks that you can't enter (not really considering you have the VW juice hook-up already), but thanks for joining the conversation anyway! I'm just going to keep my thoughts to myself for now and enjoy everyone's entries.

LOL, I live by Excel sheets! My wife hates it, but I live for this kind of stuff, and yes, my previous life was as a computer systems engineer so tech is pretty ingrained in me. Even Sprint said so when I was 16...

Although I had to kick Microsoft to the curb while working for IBM before going on disability. Had to move to Lotus Symphony which then got sucked into OpenOffice. It's free and works well so I haven't looked back.

Years ago, I worked in the IT industry, too. Never tried Lotus Symphony. I too am unable to work due to medical issues. I used to write vb scripts for Excel, and have a couple of outdated certifications. I suppose that I am a geek, too!

OpenOffice is really great, but it doesn't have the Vba capabilities that Microsoft has.

I write Vba scripts for my job a lot. Love them! Maybe we should start our own geek thread and stop nerding up this one?

I had a terrible time narrowing it down to 5 also. As mentioned above, there are SO many great albums and genres. One of my favorites are ladies that sing 'soulful jazz/blues'. I like much of the 'Big Band' era. I also have a great 'Classical' library. I dearly love songs by Marty Robbins and Tex Ritter. Leon Redbone falls into his own category. Another favorite is/was Chuck Wagon and the Wheels. Those are just some of the reasons limiting favorites was near impossible. Lastly there is Cat Stevens, I was in High School when 'Tea for the Tillerman' came out. Ah, such great music, so little time.
