Well so far no alerts but when I hit unwatch it just said are you sure you wanna unwatch so I hit yes and it didn't give any other options

Right but after you click "unwatch" and confirm it, then you have to click "watch" again, and that's where you get the options to receive email notifications or not.

Try it again in that sequence.
