It Was A Good Day - Ice Cube

I'm totally confused about the ending. You played a version that has radio edit lyrics. These are the real ones (the reference to "Pooh": Pooh was the producer). So if I had to guess right this minute, I would say his good day was spoiled, the police were there looking for someone else, but they saw Cube and went after him instead, since he was convenient?

Just wakin' up in the mornin', gotta thank God
I don't know, but today seems kinda odd
No barkin' from the dog, no smog
And mama cooked the breakfast with no hog (Damn)
I got my grub on, but didn't pig out
Finally got a call from a girl I wanna dig out (What's up?)
Hooked it up for later as I hit the door
Thinkin', "Will I live another twenty-four?"
I gotta go 'cause I got me a drop-top
And if I hit the switch, I can make the ass drop
Had to stop at a red light
Lookin' in my mirror, not a jacker in sight
And everything is alright
I got a beep from Kim, and she can fuck all night
Called up the homies and I'm askin' y'all
"Which park are y'all playin' basketball?"
Get me on the court and I'm trouble
Last week, fucked around and got a triple-double
Freakin' niggas every way like MJ
I can't believe today was a good day (Shit)

Drove to the pad and hit the showers
Didn't even get no static from the cowards
'Cause just yesterday them fools tried to blast me
Saw the police and they rolled right past me
No flexin', didn't even look in a nigga's direction
As I ran the intersection
Went to Short Dog's house, they was watchin' Yo! MTV Raps
What's the haps on the craps?
Shake 'em up, shake 'em up, shake 'em up, shake 'em
Roll 'em in a circle of niggas
And watch me break 'em with the seven, seven-eleven, seven-eleven
Seven, even back door Little Joe
I picked up the cash flow
Then we played bones, and I'm yellin', "Domino"
Plus nobody I know got killed in South Central L.A.
Today was a good day (Shit)

Left my nigga's house paid (Word)
Picked up a girl been tryna fuck since the 12th grade
It's ironic, I had the brew, she had the chronic
The Lakers beat the Supersonics
I felt on the big fat fanny
Pulled out the jammy and killed the punani
And my dick runs deep, so deep
So deep, put her ass to sleep
Woke her up around one
She didn't hesitate to call Ice Cube the top gun (Yeah)
Drove her to the pad and I'm coastin'
Took another sip of the potion, hit the three-wheel motion
I was glad everything had worked out (Uh)
Dropped her ass off and then chirped out
Today was like one of those fly dreams
Didn't even see a berry flashin' those high beams
No helicopter lookin' for a murder
Two in the mornin', got the Fatburger
Even saw the lights of the Goodyear Blimp
And it read, "Ice Cube's a Pimp" (Yeah)
Drunk as hell, but no throwin' up
Halfway home and my pager still blowin' up
Today I didn't even have to use my AK
I gotta say, it was a good day (Shit)

Hey, wait, wait a minute
Pooh, stop this shit
What the fuck am I thinkin' about?

(end)

Then this is the "to be continued" you see at the end of the vid you posted:

Yeah, I kind of take it as he just happened to be the first black guy they saw, they are already familiar with him, and so he must be the perp. I assume the video had to use the edited version of the lyrics to be shown on some of the video shows but that's just a guess.

Back in the day there would have been a copy editor or some such position who would have been responsible for verifying the printing that was going to be used on packaging BEFORE a mistake like this could happen. Imagine the surprise on the faces of some parents when their kids went to this website...

Mattel did that on purpose. They are trying to sexualize children before they are old enough to know what it means to their lives, their health physical and mental. It's sick. It's on purpose.

Schools have added pornography to their libraries. Target has a child trans-gender clothing section with toys. Libraries have the drag queen story hours. Some churches are accepting child sexualization schemes, the "woke" ones.

It's the culmination of that long march through the institutions that we've been oblivious to (but teachers have known, and have been griping about it for years).

I intended to be here more this weekend. My day got a bit busy. Talking to a friend about food, then doing some housework, talking to a friend about music, then going shopping, talking to a friend about random stuff, then fixing dinner, talking to a friend about their current living arrangements and how much they miss their own place, then cleaning the kitchen, talking to a friend about the new job they start tomorrow...

If you think that's a lot of talking you should have seen yesterday.

40 soldiers, 40 sisters
-Piero Ciampi

On the clearing, forty sisters
made their snack, quiet their white veils rose in the wind
Joking, happy in the grass.

Not far away, forty soldiers
Cleaned their rifles intently with a precise gestures they stretched their arms
Clenching fingers on the necks of the weapons

An eager hunter of prey
A shot exploded and put them all on the run
Changing the fate of unhappy eighty
Forty soldiers, forty sisters

Now on the clearing lie
Forty rifles and a few cherries
Forty soldiers, forty sisters
Fled together hoping for luck.

I'm not quite getting the meaning. Perhaps this is a case of something being lost in translation, Italian idioms that don't translate well maybe? I can't decide if this song is saying the soldiers abandoned their rifles and deserted? But it seems like I'm missing something.

It is surprising they left behind their weapons. I assume the song is about World War II, which was a fresh wound for much of Europe long after it was over.

I dunno. Maybe you can't run very fast if you have a weapon slung over your shoulder? And you're very vulnerable if you're out in an open clearing on a sunny day.

Irony was a strong element in Piero Ciampi's songs, and this may have been an anti-war song, but it was released in 1971. Ciampi was born in 1934.

I really don't know, and in spite of searching since you posted this question, I can find no interview.

Just so you know I was going to let this go and move on. That is until I got a call from my neighbor a few minutes ago asking me to go with them to the hospital. They were attacked about half a block from the building where we live. Why simply because they are trans. And now I can't let this go. They could have called their parents or their other half. Instead they called me. Because I'm the type of friend you call at the wee hours of the morning when things go sideways. Now if you will excuse me I have a small but important errand to take care of.

I'm sorry to hear about that.

Adults who make their own decisions about sexual identity, sexual preference, gender change even surgical, will find a friend in me. I have had gay friends all my life. It is the sexualization of children, who cannot yet understand even the meaning of their sexuality, that is making me crazy.

I have a special post, not in line for the word match, for Veterans Day. So the next player can word match on my post right before this one.

This is the power of music. Had it not been for Bob Marley singing about the "Buffalo Soldiers", I might never have known about black soldiers in America, before they were even enfranchised as citizen voters, being forced into military service. It started in 1866, all black regiments who fought in the war between the states. It ended in the era of free blacks (though still with a fight ahead of them for civil rights) with de-segregation of regiments in 1948.

Buffalo soldier, dreadlocked rasta
There was a Buffalo Soldier in the heart of America
Stolen from Africa, brought to America
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival

I mean it, when I analyse the stench
To me it makes a lot of sense
How the dreadlocked rasta was a Buffalo Soldier

And he was taken from Africa, brought to America
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival
Said it was a Buffalo Soldier, dreadlocked Rasta
Buffalo Soldier in the heart of America

If you know your history
Then you would know where you're coming from
Then you wouldn't have to ask me
Who the 'eck do I think I am

Said he, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy
Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!

Buffalo Soldier troddin' through the land, wo-ho-ooh!
Said he want to ran and then you want a hand
Troddin' through the land, yea-hea, yea-ea

Said he was a Buffalo Soldier in the war for America
Buffalo Soldier, dreadlocked Rasta
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival
Driven from the mainland to the heart of the Caribbean

Trodding through San Juan
In the arms of America
Trodding through Jamaica, a Buffalo Soldier
Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival
Buffalo Soldier, dreadlock rasta
