In February 1969, one of the most memorable moments in rock history occurred during a performance by Jimi Hendrix at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Hendrix, already a musical sensation, was in the midst of his iconic set when an unexpected guest appeared on stage. Five-year-old Charlie Weber, who had been backstage with his parents, innocently wandered onto the stage, completely unaware of the electrifying atmosphere that surrounded him. What could have been a chaotic interruption turned into a heartwarming moment that showcased Hendrix’s gentle nature and spontaneity.
As Charlie approached, Jimi Hendrix, known for his wild performances and legendary guitar skills, bent down and calmly spoke with the young boy. Rather than reacting with frustration or alarm, Hendrix smiled and shared a brief exchange with Charlie, an interaction that captured the crowd’s attention. The brief pause in the concert was a testament to Hendrix’s cool demeanor under pressure and his ability to connect with people in unexpected ways, even in the midst of a performance.
After their short conversation, Charlie was escorted backstage, and Hendrix returned to what he did best—performing for the masses. He closed the set with a rousing rendition of “Purple Haze,” one of his most famous tracks. The contrast between the quiet, intimate moment with Charlie and the intense, psychedelic sound of “Purple Haze” encapsulated Hendrix’s versatility as a performer and a person. This performance has since gone down in history, not only for the music but also for the unusual and touching encounter that took place on stage.
1969 was a significant year for Hendrix. He was at the peak of his career. The Royal Albert Hall shows in February 1969 were some of his last major performances in the UK before his untimely death in 1970. The footage of this concert would later become part of the documentary film Experience, giving fans a rare glimpse into his live performances and charismatic stage presence.
The story of Charlie Weber wandering onto the stage has become one of those rare rock and roll legends that adds another layer to the mythos surrounding Hendrix. It showed a side of the rock god that wasn’t just about guitar solos and explosive energy, but also about humanity and warmth, qualities that continue to endear him to fans around the world.

Who all is hostin a big dinner tomorrow?
I will have Thanksgiving for 7 people at my house ( daughter and her 4 kids and Clifs brother). Not sure how the weather will be, I hope not too bad. We eat around 3pm , I like an early dinner.
I have always cooked the whole Thanksgiving meal since I got married in 1979, so 45 years of cooking and keeping the tradition of Thanksgiving.

Wow 45 years is a long run, I love traditions and big get togethers like that. We are just havin a small dinner at home, I hate to have people make special food just for me but there is so very much that I can't have, even though I love the stuff

As we continue to receive news of blatant attempts to provoke nuclear war, I've spent a lot of time in prayer, trying to forgive those who have made me angry, trying to live peace, to offer peace to others, to pulse peace from my heart into the universe. If we're going to make it to next year, it may be only up to us, though I'm not sure what to believe in a world where illusion can be so easily created. I saw video of the bombs dropping on Ukraine, the same footage, 60 seconds or so, on various podcasts, then nothing more. So who filmed that? How did they know it was coming, or did video drones go in alongside the bombs? In our country it is legal for our government to propagandize us. Or was the whole thing some old video game footage (which has been done in the past, and was caught by astute players)?

We need truth, and we need peace from this constant worry, the constant news of coming nuclear war.

I still think it's best for me to spend this Thanksgiving day alone, partly for that reason, but music is my medicine, so I came up with this concert for world peace:

John Lennon's "Imagine"
-a surprising impromptu performance by...

Give peace a chance
-Louis Armstrong

Let there be peace on earth
-Voyceboxing

Peace Pipe
-Aterciopelados

Peaceful Waters
-Gladys Knight

Peace be unto thee

My thanksgiving wishes to my dearest VU forum friends, and to all my friends everywhere, are lasting peace and joy, many blessings to be thankful for, and may we make it to another year without our world being blown to smithereens.
