Lou Reed, the influential American musician and songwriter, is shown speaking into a microphone, a classic setup for an artist whose voice and words shaped rock’s edge. Known for a deadpan delivery and gritty, poetic lyrics about city life, Reed became a defining presence in the evolution of alternative rock.
As the leader of the 1960s group The Velvet Underground, he helped pioneer a sound that later fed into punk and other forms of underground rock. Reed then moved into a solo career that brought wider attention to his writing, including the 1972 hit “Walk on the Wild Side” and the album Transformer.
Reed’s significance endures because his work bridged street-level storytelling with a distinct musical identity, making him a reference point for listeners who follow rock beyond mainstream trends. The microphone moment underscores how central his songwriting voice remained, from Velvet Underground roots to solo-era recognition.

I have to log out. I'm exhausted.

Is it good to confess one's foibles?

I don't think I have ever, in all my years, lost track of something on the stove or in the oven, and nearly started a fire, but today I did. If I'd not taken the lid off the pan, maybe I could have avoided what happened next, smoke billowing up to the ceiling and throughout the apartment. I opened the back door to let the smoke out, but too late. The loud smoke alarm started to beep. I tried to reach it with my little step ladder, too low. So I walked the big ladder to underneath the alarm, still couldn't reach it, but from there I could reach it with a hammer. I tried to beat it to death, but it was too strong.

Then there was a knock at my door. A sweet neighbor in my building, "are you okay?". I explained. She's tall, climbed the ladder and turned off the blasted alarm. It was pretty humiliating because this had to happen on a day when my apartment was a total mess.

So in the restored blessed silence I started to open windows, but the damn alarm started beeping again. The sweet lady came back, climbed the ladder, took the alarm off the wall and turned it off again. I told her to leave it on the table in case it started to beep again.

So all day I've been alternating between opening windows, then closing them all and running the a/c, spraying orange oil spray all around. Thank heavens I'd just stripped the bed sheets for the laundry, or I'd be sleeping in cooked sheets tonight.

Oy, never get on the phone when you have something on the stove.

What an exciting day! NOT!!! At least there wasn't a fire. Hopefully no lingering smoke smell.

Good afternoon Family
I was sittin outside this mornin when Jean came out with a pitch fork and wanted me to show her how far out from the base of the taders to dig. So she put a bucket for me to sit on and watch, but ended up I sifted for taders, usually her job when she helps and she dug, she did good too.;) I kept tellin her to wait and when I got better I would dig them but she wanted to take advantage of the cool day, started out at 51.
I know she hasta be sore cause I am and she did most of the real work.
She only took some out, still a lot more but at least there's that much done.;)
I hope everyone is well and the day is being kind to everyone:hug:
