There are topics for a few other things, how about one for video games? But lets *not* make this into a console vs pc war as each platform has it's own advantages and disadvantages, and different people prefer different things for their gaming.

Anyway, I'm about done downloading the new Resident Evil HD Remaster on Steam. Loved that game on the PS1 and now that the original has been remastered and rereleased, I am eager to play it. I've played the newer Resident Evil games, but after 3, they've seemed to mostly suck to me. They lacked that special little something that made the first 3 wonderful games.
I have to agree with you on that. I loved 1,2,3,code veronica, but it's something with 4 on up that didn't appeal to me all too well. Part 4 was a good game, but just didn't have that feel to it like the others. I played part 5 on a demo when it leaked too early and thought it was pretty "meh", and i didn't even really bother with 6 tbh. My girlfriend got me part 5 just recently on steam since it was on sale, so her and i play it co-op from time to time.

American truck Simulator was released today. Anybody get it?

I got it on steam. Only spent 15 mins in-game though. Been busy working on the store in my sig so didn't want to set up my G25 wheel and turn on eyefinity to let the game use all 3 of my monitors. So only did the first mission via keyboard and with the truck as fully automatic.

I've always been a big gamer and have been collecting retro games for a while now. I've got the N64 logo tattooed on my right arm if that tells you anything.

tbh I enjoy retro games a lot more than modern. Yeah, the new stuff is good to look at, but unfortunately there's quite a lot of "gamers" who would rather have the best graphics with the same game essentially churned out. Don't get me wrong, I'll play a lot of new games, but if I had to decide between games made before the year 2000 and the ones after, it's definitely the older ones I'm going for. One of the first systems I can remember having was an atari 5200, although we also had 2600 games and although my parents weren't exactly the most knowledgeable with games, I'm more than certain that they wouldn't have had several 2600 games knowing that they didn't work on the 5200. I vaguely remember us having the 2600, but i know for certain we had a 5200 (also the 2600 games could've been given to us unknowingly by someone thinking it would work for our system). Legend has it that we had a commodore 64 as well, and for some reason i remember digging around in our basement looking for it when i was older, but for the life of me I don't ever remember us having one. I was of course hooked on the nes, i had about 44 games give or take, which pretty much filled a milk crate. I've always appreciate the retro games because of how simple they are, yet very entertaining, and even more so since i've started practicing working on my own games and looking into how much work actually went into all of those game. In fact, here's a very good video to show

It's a 2 part video and there's a 3rd about how the audio worked on old games.

For those older systems, it's now pretty easy to find packages that have emulators for computers and include every game made for the system. And by every, I literally mean *every*. All released versions, games released in different countries, literally every game.

I have a zip file that has a gameboy emulator and over 1000 games which is only around 150mb.

I'm also a fan of many older games, not necessarily retro but more games that were original or perfected. I feel like many styles of games were perfected at one point and then they just kept making new versions with better graphics but no better (and often worse) gameplay. I just can't get into games that are just rehashes of the games I already loved, generally I'd rather just go back and play those. The exception is when games have solid story lines, though I hate the games that overuse cutscenes when I want to actually play.

Lately I have been playing lots of Rainbow 6 and from time to time Black Ops 3 but I am quickly losing my joy for COD games.

CoD has grown stale for me. I loved the original MW, the ones before that were ok, but that one kind of perfected the online small map FPS for me. Similar to how CS and Day of Defeat perfected it for PC long before that. From then on it was just more killstreaks, more gimmicks, and just..bleh. Luckily they added the "barebones" option to later MW recreations, without that I would have never played them for more than a couple rounds. CS is truly a masterpiece, though I would say there is one fault in that the amount of mods splits people up so much. Maybe it's just me but I know my buddies all wanted to play different mods or just go with the latest fad mod. It got a bit annoying when the base game was excellent in itself. The modding was great, don't get me wrong, but it was just the sheer amount of them that was annoying. I will say I liked the "revolutionary war" style ones, they were a fun gimmick. The Ski maps were pretty cool. Gungame I thought was designed quite well (gain power as you advance but to win you have to overcome the last few rounds of greatly increased difficulty). Anyways, I love me some FPS, just so many out there I abhorred, a few though I could (and did) play all day.

I did love the COD games for their instant knife kill though, a bit silly, but I loved it because it allowed a subgame once you got good. Enter a pick up match and play with only the pistol and knife, see how well you can do, knife kills were so much fun.

We need to keep a gaming thread running! Anyone pick up The Division yet? I grabbed it for XB1 on Tuesday and it's pretty slick.

If you've ever played Tom Clancy games, it's a cover-based third person shooter but this time in an MMORPG "lite" package.

I'm only about 8 hours in but the world is rich and detailed. It takes place in NYC after a major virus destroys most of the population and you play the role of a spec-ops homeland agent bent on restoring order to the city. It's an MMO, so there's tons of combat, loot, crafting, and gear grinding.

If anyone has it for XB1 and wants to play, send me a message to GT: organic air

i want to game but time is so limited lately. i recently upgraded my pc a little, and got an xbox 360 (prolly my tenth one, but my first in about 5 years so im way behind). i have been playing divinity: original sin (enhanced edition) online with a buddy. best co-op rpg in years imo. also a lot of vagante (indie game off steam) with a different friend whenever we get a chance (couch co-op). used to play path of exile a lot too, but its been years and my character is reset, the skill tree is so different i wouldnt even know where to start trying to put him back together. the new leagues and content sound great tho i just need time to roll a new character and check it all out.

on xbox i am revisiting the gears of war series with a group of friends i used to play with years ago. lots of fun still, and theres a fourth/prequel in the series we all missed so once we finish part 3 we have a whole new game to play. i also tried to start a game of dragons dogma on the xbox. its so good but i just dont have time for 100 hour single player games so im just waiting for a better time to really get into it .

I've been playing Garden Warfare 2 a bit lately. Pretty fun game. I haven't played enough online to really have an opinion on balancing but everyone seems to be saying the Rose is OP (they're working on balance patches though). The addition of a single-player mode is very welcomed but it's a shame you still NEED to be online to play this game. Really looking forward to Pokken Tournament coming out next week too (even though the roster looks lackluster imo).

You have time for video games?

But seriously, I'm having fun with it so far, I grew up in the NYC area and used to drive ambulances in and out of the city. It's creepy how realistic it feels. Some of the streets with broken down FDNY and NYPD cars kinda remind me of 9/11 which is weird.

I tend to get a little crazy with MMOs but during the blistering summer in Vegas it's pretty much my recreation.

Been rocking that awesome Rainbow 6 for me this game gets better each time I play it.
For some reason, I am not intrigued with the new Tom Clancy, I will have to wait on this one before I buy it.
I should youtube some gameplay.

I know some of you gamers have to have heard about (and possibly bought) Factorio and/or Stardew Valley :)

Factorio has over 6.2k reviews on steam with 98% being positive.
Stardew Valley has over 14k reviews and a 98% positive rating.

Both games are among the top sellers on steam and in the listing for most daily players

yeah i really want to try that out. i watched the trailer a while ago. at the start it looks like a pretty boring game that you would skip over. by the end it looks like everything you ever wanted in this style of game and some stuff you never thought about but fully agree with to boot. i dont have time for a game like this right now though. i am going to wait until i can give it the attention it looks like it needs/deserves.

what are your impressions of it? i saw you mention it in another thread here too...im going to take a wild guess that you are a fan?

I got the game on the 8th.
Been 22 days so far and I've already put about 390 hours into the game according to steam.

It is ridiculously addictive if you like logistics games.

I've really been enjoying Battleborn lately. Not very good at it but I'm learning. Miko's my favorite character I've tried so far.

According to my 300+ games on steam, yeah I would consider myself an addict. Mind you I never pay full price, or even near it anymore thanks to places like humble bundle, but yeah I have a ton of games, most of which I haven't touched yet. I recently got sucked back into GTA Online, but that's been kind of meh unless I have a friend who's playing. With Rockstar really cracking down on hacking right now, playing with randoms can be dangerous, I've been hearing of legit players who unwillingly receive cash that's been dropped on them in pub sessions getting banned along with the hackers themselves. To avoid any of it, I play private sessions, which gets boring, but at least i dont have to worry about it.

I don't game as much as I used to. Mostly single player offline since my internet sucks something fierce. That and too many other things that need money which means graphics cards take back seat. Still rocking an hd 7850 I've had for the past 3-4yrs although I finally upgraded from a core 2 duo to an i5 christmas before last.

Somewhere I think I still have my 8bit nes in storage, along with my super nintendo. Stopped with consoles after the ps2 when they ps3/4 started becoming $400-500 gaming systems. That's how I wound up getting into pc gaming since I already had a pc, a gpu was a lot cheaper than a console. Usually play far cry, far cry 3, crysis 1/2, cod ghosts, halo, command n conquer, skyrim and a few others.

Works out pretty well since I've got an older gpu just to wait for games to go on sale around the holidays. Got something like 13-14 games around the holidays for like $50-60. The elder scrolls anthology only ran me around $20 or $30 I think and included skyrim. The last full priced game I got was cod ghosts several years ago and was a little disappointed. Not that it's a bad game but it's over fairly quick and for $60 new, eh. My old nes games meant waiting and waiting, fighting the mad rush when games like smb 3 or zelda 2 arrived but the $60-70 meant months of gameplay not a week or two.

My girlfriend and I are big video game people but it's hard to find 2 player local coop games we enjoy. Diablo 3 is our big obsession right now. I'm thinking of getting back to Borderlands.

You a PC gamer or a console gamer, if you're a PC gamer I might be able to make a few suggestions. Console on the other hand you'd be on your own.

We're console gamers at this point (only one PC in the house) . I'll occasional game on PC but after hour 6 of playing Civ, I get the evil eye. ☺️

Yeah, I can't help you much then, we only have one console in the house and that's only because one of my neighbors gave their Wii to my son. I'm still looking around for extras for him for that thing now.

My wife and I play on PC a good bit, and I'm always on the hunt for deals on co op games for us. I know what I want for us, I have a copy of most of it myself, just waiting for deals on the second copy for her.

I'd have to say that there are only two games that have completely taken over my life at some point in time.

The first was Neuromancer. I started playing it on the Commodore 64, then got an Amiga 500 and continued until the end.

The second was Syberia (I and II). Freakin' incredible gameplay. Syberia III has been in the works for quite a while, and is expected to be out at the end of this year - finally. I've been waiting YEARS for this game to come out. That's how good it is.
