But I have 3 SXK's (all gotten on great deals), all with 60 boards that passed authenticity as having been produced this year, and all three needed a firmware update. I know it's not a huge update, but it is again about the principal of the thing to me. After paying that much for a DNA device I can't update the firmware if I want to?

See this is another point in which I don't think is a huge deal.

Updating the software/firmware.

This is the DNA 60... which is pretty much at end of life and has been for a while...no real updates to its capabilities, most... if not all of the updates are for the color variants 75/250C or to the UI suite, nothing really for the board itself.

I get the whole principle of owning a DNA and being able to tinker with it... but I never tinkered... I just added profiles, there is nothing you can do to find out internal resistance on these mods like you can with a 510 short tool, and besides thermal reads, you only need ambient. You get the charge board, hook it up once, and you're done.

I didn't want to spend to much time at evolv's forum looking for change logs on their UI suites, but I am almost sure of what I said about any significant changes to how the DNA 60 works or updates to the logic they use on the chipsets.

Again, not that I don't think the BB or SXK yippy yadda, monkey butt anything... I actually don't like them anymore...

This is all conjecture really... I have no fight in this whatsoever... I use my Dicodes in power mode, I use my Vt133 (DNA200) in power mode, I used my VT75Nano, Palm DNA75 in power mode... Heck if I bought a DNA250C... I'd probably use it in power mode after getting tired of replay lol... guess what? Don't need to update firmware using power mode lol... that's just a little ribbing there, no slight, just fun ;)

Speaking of mechs, my brand new Dreamer has a hot button I can't get rid of... not horrible, but I gets warmer than I want it to after a few pulls at 0.17.
Took the bitch apart, scrubbed it, used rubbing alcohol, ran it through the USC for a couple cycles... nothing. Tried different batteries, flipping them, flipping the tube around, swapping contacts and springs. Still arcing somewhere.

Ick... That would annoy me... I also know nothing of this mod, but arcing= hot button.. I would look at the contact and see if its flat... can run a marker across it and then flatten it on a sheet of paper... if the mark isnt complete, the contact can use some shaping.

Also to remove whatever is left over from the marker, just marker it again, and wipe right away.

Might see if you can adjust the throw a little too.

If there is any metal bits, and I mean any tiny amounts in the switch housing, this will also add to a potential hot button.

I don't believe that the 60 is at end of life, you see a ton of them in custom mods. Albeit the larger boards are more popular in the mass production market, I don't see the 60 going away for quite some time. For a good percentage of the market the cloud bro days are passed and smaller more pocketable mods are the ticket.
This is all just conjecture, and I could just be a mushroom (in the dark, and fed full of )

I think what I said may of been misconstrued, apologies. End of life to me is support not only manufacturing, which I also alluded to. With the inclusion of the C versions, their focus is primarily for Color... didn't comb evolv forums for the change logs to any of the software/firmware updates to see how much has changed in the past couple years for the DNA60... but as I said, I am sure there isn't much, especially for the past 2 years.

I like the DNA60... even shit fuck gooberbutternuts from 67 Mods uses them... just took telling that dumb ass to add USB support when he was designing the Neo60... he was adamant for a while to not add it, til the masses said yeah add it.

As for it going away... I doubt it will for a while... the footprint is perfect for compact mods as you mentioned... worked perfect for my needs in the mods I owned, even without USB... "My Thumb is my TC" ;)

Still think they should just send it with all wire profiles, doubt it will take evolv much more time during production to have the ram chip already have them.. probably a few key strokes added to the basic package loader they use now to give the basic profiles.

Same goes for BBV on adding them as I mentioned...but what incentive is there for BBV to do so? None... takes from their bottom end in time... They sell out quickly enough to not give two shits.

Anyway, just my thoughts, I'm not right most of the time, but I do like conversation... even if and when I am wrong.

Have a rad one!

If it's a current carrying spring, I had terrible hot button issues with my SS Panzer for a while and it turned out to be because the spring I put in it was too light for the load I was pulling through it.

Honestly I don't know what it is.
I've changed pins, springs, batteries, battery orientation, did a complete teardown and clean, swapped the top cap and button, changed RDAs. Basically spent a whole day on the damn thing and it's shown zero improvement.
Can't even get the constant contact switch because lucidrda.com is down.
Only progress is that I did my first staged fused clapton build. 0.15 ohms... lowest I've ever built (on purpose). Tasty!

Or for SaGs for I know you have the wire...

2.26.38 2.5mm 5wrap n80

That should put you at the magical .13 and give some surface area

Did the Hinderer come with the bearings installed or the teflon/copper washers... I know it comes with all 3 (Hence tri-way pivot)

It came with the bearings installed and the teflon/copper washers in a plastic baggie. I'm diggin' it but it's gonna be a weekend carry kinda thing.....at least for the near future:confused: Sucker flips like a dream.
The Boker is kinda stiff, I have to clean and oil it when I get the time.

Managed to Vinyl Cut decals for the inside of my BB, the fire side was looking too plain - happier now but I might redesign something fancier :)

that looks nice. but not my style. do you want to make some money ?! make up some decals that are similar, but do not need to be exact, that are something like the the OG lettering. and idk if it could be done, but there are decals that are not one piece. as in the decals have 3 layers. = the decal itself. then a sheet that covers the glue side, this, of course, peels off for application. the a 3rd backing that holds the letters/whatever in place for application. then this layer is removed after the letting is applied to the mod.
this way, all the letters are separated. knoww what i am saying ?

I believe I'm close, but still a couple short:confused: I took a liking to M390 blades....

I like them also... well more the Crucible variant... probably one of my favorite steels.

But with how I use my knives (opening packages, small edc use) I am fine with most steels... plus stropping only takes a few passes to be sharp again.

Funny thing... months ago I sharpened my CRKs... they've gone dull... well not dull, less razor sharp... strop a few passes, and back to push cutting paper.

I might pull out the KME and start with the 9Micron and do a touch up so the CRKs have new edges for the new year lol

The biggest pain in the arse was finding a Doug Ritter RSK MK2 made by Hogue and a M390 blade! They're still making them, but with a CPM 20cv blade:cuss2:
I ended up paying almost twice as much for the M390 ! Now, to find a mini!

Yeah only down fall of limited made knives... you always seem to like them a year after they were released.

Similar to the CrossHatch Sebenza 21... Should of grabbed them when they were readily available... nope slept on it, now they've doubled in price lol

I just got stupid and bought a Cold Steel Code 4 because I was curious about the CTS-XHP steel:facepalm:
Saturday I made my "Santa" deliveries to a couple of friends. My friend that got me hooked on Barry Woods folders got a box with a Sanrenmu Land 910 with Sandvik blade, a couple of Bokers (S35V), a Kershaw Cryo Ti, and Chibenza with D2 blade. He loves the Land 910.....go figure!

I'm just getting set-up for a Seb 31 with box elder burl, then I'm done......I think!

Some days I wish I had an alter ego type person sitting behind me and slap me upside the head whenever I have a "great" idea. This morning I decided our old table needed a bit of sprucing up for the holidays. This is a 80+ year old, solid oak table, not the lightest thing to wrestle around, but after 4 hours of uninterrupted work (lost of cursing whenever I had to move/turn/flip it by myself) it was done! As I was sitting there congratulating myself for a job well done, my better half walks in after a short , last minute shopping fling and looks at the table.
She : Wow! It looks beautiful.....gives me a smack on the cheek.
Did you do the chairs too?
Me : HUH????
She: Well, you need to do the chairs too!
Me: All eight of them???
She: Well, of course!
Me : WTF??? Why did I start this?
All this wasn't bad enough, but as I started on the first chair she walks up to me and asks if I could put a couple of pieces of salmon in the smoker for her. I look outside and it doesn't look too bad so I figure the small electric smoker ought do the job so My mouth speaks (brain was out shopping) Sure honey, no problem! Would y'all believe that 5 minutes after I plugged the damn thing in, it started to rain!
Days like this is when I want to shout : STOP THE WORLD I WANT TO GET OFF!!!
Happy Holidays one and all:vino:

Thanks, I'm working on some different designs and bought some transfer tape for the 3 layers as you said, I attempted masking tape but that was a fail.

Mine is an SXK one so I was thinking instead of 'Hand built by robots' I could put 'Mass Produced By Slave Labour' :D
