Dotaio SE arrived yesterday. Got to play a bit last night.
Had some trouble getting the included 0.7 ohm "MTL" coil to wick. I was surprised considering I'm using a 60/40 juice but it turned out that 7 drops wasn't enough to prime the coil. As a result I can confirm that the dry hit protections works!
Not perfect but it saved me from a much nastier hit if it didn't have that feature. Flavor is really good on it though. I was able to close it down pretty much all the way and get an acceptable hit... still too hot for my taste on the lowest power setting but usable. I have some Triton Mini coils (1.2 standard, 1.8 clapton) that I think allow for for better fine tuning in the future.
As for the device, I like it despite some negatives. I HATE the mirrored finish. Nothing a wrap can't fix, but wtf Dotmod?! It's a pocket device so a brushed or media blasted finish would've been much better and wouldn't show every little piece of dust, scratch, and fingerprint it's going to collect.
Also, the panels feel cheap as hell and flimsy. Even SXK includes better panels on their clone BBs and Bantam so there's really no reason for that. They stay on, work, and have some nice engraving on them so they're passable.
Over all though it feels solid in the hands, the tank is easy to remove, fill, and replace the coil. It definitely does not underpowered in anyway, but there's no way to tell since there isn't a display. In some ways I like it better than the BB and it definitely is better than the Bantam for my use.
I'd like to eventually pick up the RBA and maybe a leather case down the road, but for now it isn't necessary.
