Charge Reuleaux RX200S via USB?

I'm looking at buying a Wismec Reuleaux RX200S during the upcoming July 4 sales.

My understanding is you can charge it via USB. However, YouTube videos I've seen warn against it for "safety reasons". I'm not sure what these safety reasons would be. But they suggest changing the batteries manually instead of charging them inside the mod. Mike Vapes on YouTube is one of the guys I think I remember talking about this stuff.

So do you guys charge via USB?

My thing is USB charging I'm considering kind of critical. If I'm out driving somewhere and my battery goes low, I definitely need to be able to just plug my mod into a USB cable to charge it back up. And really, even at home it's a lot easier for me to charge via USB too. Because I have a really nice charging station set up beside my bed and I just plug in when I fall asleep at night.

I'm just getting into RTA's and RDA's. I've successfully done a build or two. But there were problems with them. Need to keep practicing. And it's looking like a good idea to have a 200 watt mod. I'm sure I could build higher resistance coils that would work better with lower wattage mods. But I'm thinking not fight it, go with the flow, and get a 200 watt mod... I kind of want one anyway.

But, I'm not finding any 200 watt mods that are recommended to be charged via USB. Unless you guys tell me to blow off the safety warnings for charging the Reuleaux RX200S. Then I think I'm gonna do that.

USB charging on the device itself is highly not recommended on devices with more than 1 18650 battery. It does not charge all the batteries the same and you'll have to remarry the batteries again. Even Wismec said not to charge it on the device!

I think you should check out the lavabox DNA 200. It uses a built in LiPo battery instead of the usual 18650 batteries so it's meant to be charged with a USB. If you don't mind having a small capacity that is but it seems you like you have East access to charging your devices. It's a DNA 200 chip so it's good.

Idjekyll, thanks man. That is what I was looking for. But checking the Volcano web site, apparently they want $170 for that mod. Sounds like it's for someone in a higher tax bracket than I.

I'm thinking I'm gonna get the RX200S like in the OP and just put up with no USB charging.

But, I'll need to buy like 6 batteries (3 for in the device, 3 for to switch them out with).

Isn't there stuff you're supposed to know about these batteries more than just the mAh rating? Or is that only if you put them in a mech mod?

These are the batteries I'm thinking about getting. I've got a 20% off code for July 4 sale:

And you know, really I'm just assuming I need more than 75 watts (my current mod) for these 0.2 - 0.4 ohm coil builds. Is that accurate? How much do I really need more watts?

Well there are people out there who throw caution to the wind and still charge directly but I think there's a reason why it's highly not recommended. If you don't want to get the lava box then I'd suggest you go with LG G2s or Samsung 30q. These are higher capacity batteries with reasonal drain of about 20A. The 30Qs are rated 15A but tests have been done and they perform well over 20A. With these batteries you can go a few days without charging if you're vaping anything below 80watts in power mode. Even high in TC I think.

It all depends on the juice and the kind of vape that you're looking for. For creamier juices, you need higher wattage to bring out the flavours and they tend to shine more with a warmer vape comparing against a more fruity minty juice.

Great answers idjekyll! Exactly the answers I was looking for.

One of my top 2 juices is Milkman, a milk flavor - which I'm assuming is a creamy flavor like you were talking about. I'm vaping it on my Vaporesso Target kit now (the Target tank and the Target mod) in one of the CCELL 0.2 nickel coils at the mod's max of 75 watts. Seems like it could be a little warmer. Like you said with creamy flavors, I'm thinking I need more watts. But I'm gonna vape it another day and try a different juice. But initial impressions are yeah, I'm buying that Reuleaux RX200S this weekend.

If someone has a good reason for talking me out of it, please do. I'm look at spending $80 ($40 for the mod & $40 for the batteries). I've got the cash, it's not like I'll be going into credit card debt. But I really probably shouldn't be spending that eighty bucks...

And I'm probably gonna buy a new tank too. The Target tank is fine. But it's annoying it's not top fill. I'm looking st Vaporesso's next higher up tank, the Gemini (not the RTA, just the regular one). I'm just thinking stick with Vaporesso because I like their coils. But I'm trying to verify the Grmini doesn't leak before I buy it. It seems like people are complaining it does leak, but I think they're talking about the RTA version....

Instead of carrying around a charging cable, carry a battery box with three spare batteries. Or depending on how hard you run it, three fresh batts might last all day anyway. Charging three 18650's in the mod would take a ridiculously long time. Just buy the mod and charge externally. It'll work out. I promise.

Carrying around a charging cable is a hell of a lot easier than carrying around 3 spare 18650's:

You put that in my wallet and couple that with the USB battery I carry on my keychain (that I already use for my iPhone and iPad), and I don't even have to stop walking to recharge. And in my car, I can just leave a cable in there...

But yeah, like you say, I'm sure it will work out even if I can't charge via USB. And if I do have to go,without vaping for a few hours? It's not like being addicted to cigarettes. I'll make it.

Why would you have to carry around extra batteries? Mine lasts nearly 3 days on a full charge with 2100mAh batteries...pop 3K mAh ones in and you'll only have to charge the batteries twice a week
