I just got a message from my ex-wife requesting prayer.
Several years ago, she had to have a couple of small brain tumors removed and it seems that new tumors are forming now.
With 800 miles and 23 years between us, she isn't saying much about how she's handling things, but if she's wanting prayer...
Thank you, my friends.

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it had and it could go no further.

Then the man decided to help the butterfly, so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time.

Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly. What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God allowed us to go through our life without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. And we could never fly. (author unknown)

Thanks for posting that.
I look back on my life and am actually grateful for the hard times I had to endure.
Before I turned my life over to God, I lived through some really bad times, did some really bad things, hurt a lot of people...
Today, I know that all of those things helped make me the person I am now. I feel regret and remorse for those I hurt, but I know that a great deal of my compassion and ability to forgive stems from knowing what it's like to be without those qualities.
I can appreciate the things I have in my life because I know what it's like to lose it all.

Hour of divine mercy
In his revelations to St Faustina Lord asked for a special prayer each afternoon at the 3 o'clock hour "At 3 o'clock implore my mercey, especially for sinners and if only for a brief moment immerse your self in my passion, particularly in my abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy ..In this hour I refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of me in virtue of my passion "

Please keep praying for my ex-wife that I mentioned last week.
One of the tumors is growing right against her optic nerve and could cost her her eyesight.
I guess they are going to go in through her nose to try to break it up and remove it but they said there's about a 50/50 shot she'll lose sight in that eye anyway.
The other tumors may be treatable with radiation.
Also, one of my close friends got a call at 4am saying his sister had died of a heart attack.
He's strong, has a great support group and is secure in his faith, but it's hard anyway. Keep him in prayer as well, ok?
Thank you, my friends.

psalm 23-4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
