Also there are at least 2 different strains of it.
Yes I heard that. L & S i think they are. The Doctor I heard was talking about reinfection from the bad one of the two. I liked his advice that if you get it and recover act like you did or should have before you got it and follow the same protective measures to be safe. If I got it and recovered, unless I get some 100% confirmation that I have immunity to it, I am not going to walk about like it cant touch me. Its too much of an unknown to be certain about anything with this one and we should be treating it and how we protect ourselves against it with the utmost caution, not like we do with colds and flu's.

On another note, they are finally taking things serious here. Closing many, many things down. Good too they are closing caravan parks down to all but the residents in them and those who need emergency accommodation. City slickers using our small towns will get sent packing. We knew the virus was in our small town but it has been officially released that it is now. Me and my misses feel much better today thankfully.
I hope everyone here stays safe and well.

Checking in. Last night while getting up out of my office chair I had extreme pain in my right hip. Walking down stairs was a struggle for dinner. I couldn't really sleep last night due to the pain. Same this morning. Got an appointment with a PA to get checked out. He poked and prodded and said it's probably muscle strain, but sent me to get x-rayed to be sure it wasn't a bone issue since that was the hip that was broken in a car wreck back in 1981. He hasn't received the x-rays yet, he will let me know more tomorrow. He did give me a prescription for Tylenol with hydrocodone to take the edge off the pain.

Other than that no covid symptoms and life goes on.

Our customer in Los Angeles was wanting us to start up their project. My boss said he doesn't want me going down there even after I get the leg fixed. That's fine by me.

If your doc balks at more pain relievers, look at kratom

The stuff really does work

yep not as good as opiates but gets me thru life with my horrible back.
And is also rumored to help fight Corona Virus. Not proven though.

The chloroquine alkaloid was found in it, but it must be in low quantities because chloroquine is lethal in higher doses

I'm still hanging out out the house.
Now i'm getting worried about my next doctors appointment on April 21st.

You'd think that just this ONE FUCKING TIME they'd allow pain management doctors to throw a couple refills on there for patients like me who are basically on a maintenance dose.

The only reason I walk in the building each month is for a refill
it's been that way for close to a decade.
I don't think they have to worry about me getting "hooked"
That ship had already sailed before the turn of the century.

They just enacted the 30 day stay at home order here.
I get it and all but what happens when all of the "essential" workers get sick (which is already happening all over the place) and there is no more people left to replace them?

Exactly what percentage of the countries doctors are working?
Is there a second and third wave of these doctors to take the place of the ones that get sick?

How about cops, EMT workers, pilots, etc...
Somehow I doubt many police departments have a JV team 100% ready to step up when the varsity guys are all down.

Around 80% of those infected require no hospital stay and get better. So most of them will be back in a few weeks if they get sick.

I have highest regard right now for our medical workers and first responders.
And wish them all the best.
I wish every one of us the best.

yeah the pain med thing sucks big time. Was on em for 15 years. Stupid laws cut me off.
Had no with drawl just pain.
Took large doses of naproxen for a while for some relief. I now take Kratom.

They handled the last one on the 24th pretty well.
There were two other people in the building when I entered but the girl behind the counter saw me so I sat down alone and waited.
She called my name and asked me if I only needed a refill or I needed to talk to the doctor.
As soon as I told her I just needed a refill she filled out my next appointment card and said they'd be sent over to the pharmacy.

The two extra people in the building were no good and won't be next time either but other than that they made it go as smoothly as (legally) possible.

They switched to 100% electronic prescriptions down here on Jan 1st.
I don't mind because the mom & pop pharmacy that I've been with forever takes care of me but I don't know what people do when they go to these clowns at Walgreens or CVS.

I even asked him when they first started doing it voluntarily a little over a year ago what would happen if the pharmacist just straight up said no?
He told me he didn't know so at the time I told him i'd stick with the written prescriptions.

With the big pharmacies they change the whole pharmacy crew out so often you never get a chance to get to know any of them and all you need is one new pharmacist to decide he or she doesn't like the way you look, deem you not worthy, and tell you no.

They will sit there with a straight face and say some stupid shit like "I'm sorry Sir, We don't carry pills any more"

Of course that is 100% better than the "They are all out of stock and the truck won't be here until next Friday" then next Friday comes "They weren't on the truck, how about checking back next week" basically lying to your face until you finally just go to another pharmacy.

I had Walgreens pull similar shit in the past AFTER I had already been getting the exact same dose and medicines every month for four years straight from them.

Ky has a lake that crosses the border into TN. Dale Hollow.
Last weekend 3 wildlife officers spent the weekend running people from TN back to their end of the lake as they were camping on the KY side and partying and such on pontoons and houseboats.

One thing I found out today only 4 states have lower percentages of their populations with virus than does KY. Heck even SD has a higher percentage of their pop with infections. They have fewer infections but a higher percentage of their population with it.

Y'all are too ornery to get sick. :teehee:

I have a really bad disc in my lower back. I find diclofenac gels pretty helpful at times.

Once again we agree. I took diclofenac for years for arthritis in my back and hips. Much easier on the stomach, too, than Celebrex and some of the other, newer NSAIDs. Not sure why, just personal experience.

Hi, Celebrex didn't agree with me at all. Gave me heart palpitations badly. I thought at one stage I was having a heart attack. I did try something else last year that just gave me stomach aches. Not many things I have tried have agreed with me really.

Wonderful Friday VU!

Wife handed me a few Teal Niosh N95’s when she got home from work... no she did not take from current supply at the hospitals... they were in her field bag in the trunk of her car.

Her managers are asking for volunteers for floor work... this is disturbing to me, but expected.

Calls to be made, but everyone via texts yesterday were fine.

Time to walk the dogs for an hour

Be safe everyone

On a more serious note, I've just received an e-mail from my boss. A case of COVID-19 was confirmed in the repack center on the campus where I work, in a different building.

The person visited friends and relatives in New York two weeks ago, worked some last week, and was sent home sick last week.

The company has called in a professional crew to clean and sterilize the building where this person worked. I would guess that the building the repack center is housed in is approximately 150,000 square feet.

New York has come to Henderson, North Carolina.

It has been rumored that some NY CV refugees were/are camping out in a nature/recreation area about 40 min drive from me.

btw I used to live in Timberlake and worked in Durham/RTP.

Wednesday check in. Nothing new, staying inside. Not watching much of the news, it's overload for me. All of the family and friends are doing well except for our son. He works in Saudi Arabia in the oil fields. He has a fever and not feeling well, the company doctors are keeping tabs on him. Transportation is restricted, he is due to come home in 3 weeks, we'll see. Prayers would be appreciated.
Oh sweetie... praying it's just an regular ole bug and he gets better soon!

Like what? This inquiring mind wants to know :D

Oh I'll make biscuits and cake with it, use it in a roux for gravy or thickener for soups and vegetables, breading for just about anything I fry, just like I'd use flour, except I'll make a bit of an allowance for any milk solids that are already in it, since it's a "Complete" mix. (Is that sentence long enough?) Pancake mix should make great cake flour because it's pre-sifted and very soft and fine.

I've used it some in the past in place of flour, but not to the degree that I may be using this. So there will be some experimentation involved. I'll follow my nose. :) I cook about halfway by instinct anyway.

Y'all were talking about the maple syrup. I guess I can consider myself lucky... we have a maple farm about 30 miles from here. We can get 100% pure maple syrup anytime we want it. Ever seen one of these jugs? ... That's us! Unfortunately for me, I have to use very little of it.. pure syrup sends me into sugar shock! :(

That stuff is a real luxury down here, especially with the way I eat syrup. It's why I don't eat pancakes and French toast all that often - if I do, I want them SWIMMING in syrup. Hubbs thinks I am ridiculous with it. He's like a curmudgeon with syrup, so there's no in-between in this house! lol

I actually slept last night! Combination of not putting weight on the leg and pain meds helped. I was using an old pair of crutches I had out in the garage. I had forgotten what a pain in the ass they are, but I would not have been able to even go to the doctor without them.

My wife, God bless her, has been a champ in this. Bringing me food, coffee, and water. She told me I better not dare to move without her there to watch.

One downside is I lost my 35 week stretch of hitting my step count go down the tubes. :( I'm still going to take it easy for a while, step count be damned.

The county we live in has 16 confirmed cases of covid, but no deaths, yet... Otherwise, all is well on the covid front for us.

We go through Timberlake on 501 every time we visit our kids. It's the easiest way to go from here to there. I've also worked at the park, but it's been a long time ago. Actually my sister and I worked for sister companies out there, on an equipment-and-tech-support contract with the EPA at the park. I also did a couple of short stints at Burroughs-Wellcome and Union Carbide, before it became Rhone-Poulenc.

If it's been a while, you wouldn't recognize it out there now. New Interstate/Bypass, lots of road work, I get turned around every time I try to drive through there these days.

Pancakes, I miss them. I don't eat them to keep my carb count and blood sugar down. It's hell getting old.

Hey @The Cromwell, what Kratom do you use? I want to snag some for natural pain relief.

Been quite a while 27 years I think.
I worked at a fiber optics outfit in the park and at the GTE headquarters building in Durham.

I get mine from Mitra Gaia online. PITA as no credit cards. They may take direct check but my bank quit doing that with them so I do the money order option.
The varieties I use are Red Bali and Yellow Vietnam. Red Bali seems better for pain and Yellow Vietnam better for attitude.
also have more varieties.
I fill 00 caps. Take about 4-5 a day for an average bad day. Some people here take more and I do some days as well. It does not work as well as presc stuff however as good as 1.5 - 2 grams of naproxen daily for me.

Note google Kratom laws as it is illegal to even possess in a state or two. (Ohio) I think? But not illegal on a federal level. yet.

As with all things important I have stockpiled a bit of it :)
Keep in freezer.

You can also order prefilled caps and concentrated stuff but more expensive.

Also Mitra Gaia are very prompt in shipping and such.
And much cheaper than some of the Kratom vendors.

they sell it as botanical samples as no health claims are allowed about it. FDA got on a couple outfits last year about their claims on their websites.

they are in NV so quick for you.

Well still alive and well here~! Had to go the Bank and hit the Dollar Tree to stock up on whatever else I could. Tape in all businesses so people practice Social Distancing. I felt weird covering my face with a mask in the Bank because that used to be against the law~!

Stay Safe my friends~!

Still alive here. We've settled into a very monotonous routine here. Wake around 10:30am. Get food. Kids go to school (their rooms). I play mind numbing games, watch TV, DO yard work, sit outside with the dog. Lunch whenever. When school work is done we plan dinner. Wife gets home about 4. She is still going to work. Her routine hasn't changed. Only a handful of people left in her very large office building. Have dinner anywhere from 6:30p to 9p. Watch more TV or play more mind numbing games. Go to bed whenever my head falls over. Bored and have no motivation. Might take a drive this weekend. It's an easy no contact activity. Fill up truck. Drive until almost out of gas. Refill and come home.

Got the results back from the x-ray. Arthritis in my hip. Just take it easy for a bit. That makes sense since it was broken back in 1981 when I got hit head on by a drunk driver. Probably aggravated it when I was in TX working on water meters which are in the ground. If the inside of the pit was filled with dirt/sand I had to get down and dig it out. If it gets really bad again they can give me a shot.

Happy Friday(?) everyone!

Wading through the SBA loan stuff. Now I have a small headache. Lol! Gonna take a nap and do some gardening after. Enough legalese for today. Plus, everyone says the banks aren't ready for the onslaught of applicants that are about to happen. Oh, joy.

Hope y’all are safe and not too bored.:)

Somebody, who shall remain nameless, here in this house with me, but we won't say who that is....is getting on my nerves already.

But we definitely won't say who that is. No, we really won't. And we'll have a little talk with ourselves and then have just a little tiny attitude adjustment.. Yes, we really will.

That was seriously happening at my house also due to attitude of an anonymous person - which has abated some with the coming of the sun at least
