I set a modular home for a guy who owns a couple Mines in Iager or pronounced (eye-gur). The owner of Rock and Roll Coal. I almost moved up there to work for him. Beautiful country that way.

Beautiful as long as you don't have to drive through it. Treacherous if you do. At least that's my experience "off the beaten path" in WV.

So, checking in. Got up about 9 this morning and didn't even have time for coffee before I was supposed to leave to pick up a Walmart order. DH was still sleeping, but then at the last minute, he woke up and got dressed, and we rode to town together. Hasn't happened in a while!

Made several stops, then, for Walmart order, then a scrip at Walgreens, then a burger at Burger King, then a headlight restoration kit at O'Neill Auto Parts. I ate my burger in the car while DH went into the auto parts place. (I guess that's why he wanted to ride with me. I didn't know he needed anything from the auto parts place.) On the way home I remembered I'd forgotten to order aspirin, so DH went into Dollar General, where he found aspirin and a 12-pack of Cottonelle.

It was nice to get out for a while. But...the Walmart parking lot was FULL. I won't say that traffic is back to normal, because restaurants are still mostly closed, but there was sure a lot more activity than I'd have expected.

I'm intending to watch some news today and get myself updated. Did watch the governor on Friday.

Everyone stay safe! Thinking of you all.

Like some roads in eastern KY, where roads are so crooked the headlights you see in your rear view mirror may be your own.

and I just love meeting a dually pickup on our lane and a half roads. With them just flying of course.
Damn rednecks.
and why I got a dashcam.

One particular local offender literally got beat up for running a guy off the road with his kids in the car. the asshole was in the middle of the road in a curve. Luckily for the guy doing the beating the asshole threw the first punch.
And no one would take his side in it because he had caused a lot of driving angst on the road.

I went to the shops today to get some things we needed. I think the effects of whats happening is starting to just kick in here. I have never seen so many people in just a 2 hour period in my little town during the day drunk or off their faces on stuff. It was like being somewhere else. People walking around with beer cans in hand, visibly no mistake drunk saw 3 of those, one got out of his car with a can in hand. Probably at least 6 others that were of their heads on drugs.
I know thats nothing new in some places but in our small country town it is far from usual. That would be what you would usually see over a 4 month period not 2 hours. And agro people! I was glad to get home. One guy who was supposed to give way to me and as it became a stand off, his fault, neither of us could now go the direction we wanted to in our cars, so I smile and say no worries stay there ill move on and go another way. Oh no, that was not right, how dare I be courteous and nice! He now goes off his nut abusing me, and, so does his elderly mother or granny in the passenger seat! Huh, a crazed granny!? o_O
Never been so glad to get home in my life.
But still, thats minuscule to what many of you guys put up with I know.

Stay safe and well guys and gals

I love my dashcam. Had one for years. Had so many mongrels that thought it was fun to get in front then slam the brakes on just to have me point to the cam and see them freak out and floor it to get away. Idiots, already recorded them and saved with the number plates in clear view. Dashcams are awesome. Does it ever freak the idiots out. :D
One of the best things you can get for your car I reckon!

Ah, that's well South of us. Round this way it's YAY-ger. There's also Yeager airport just outside North of Charleston. Which is named after Chuck Yeagar, first pilot to achieve faster than sound speed in level flight. :) And yep, we pronounce both the same. :)

My wife pronounces Staunton, VA as St- AunT - on and if from down the way in VA you're from it's just StANTon, no Aunts there. :)

But yes WV's motto is "Almost Heaven", we know it's our secret that well, there's no almost. Lovely country even despite all the damn hills that try killing you. *chuckles* Gets muggy a good bit what with being in woods mostly. Kind of have to balance when you get stuff done outside. Can be too hot, or too cold, though I've not felt Great Lakes cold here thankfully. Been too wet lately, and then of course it gets warm and raises the humidity. Go out and work, get char broiled, then it rains only to draw it back out tomorrow.

So just up above Charleston not to be confused with Charles Town. Been to both.

Yeah, roughly 40 to 45 miles North of Charleston and about the same South of Parkersburg. Our nearest town is Ripley, "America's Small Town" or so the accolade was given when Bush JR. came to visit that one 4th of July. Ripley is roughly 6 miles West of us by Route 33. And I'm half wanting to say Spencer, WV is roughly 20 miles East of us.

Cedar Lakes is about a two mile hike over two ridges from us. Or we can go into Ripley, turn back East and go on Cedar Lake road to it.

And I do believe Ravenswood is roughly 20 miles North West of us. There's a bunch of Catholic churches in Ravenswood, also about 9 different Wiccan coven converge around the area there too. So there's a good mix of your Bible thumping and Pagan pride. Ripley has a good bunch of Buddhist, erm Baptist churches. Hard to tell the Buddhist & Baptist apart though. Both of 'em make you a brother or sister, course Amish and Mennonite do as well.

There's a laundromat in Ripley, but it doesn't get clothes clean, and the water smells of sulfur. So we use the laundry in Spencer instead. It is a well kept up place to go do laundry. Spencer though has a reputation of a Stepford facade that no one asks what lies behind it. Everyone is so damn polite, civil, nice even. But you always feel like "oh shit, what's the skeleton hiding in the closet?" But nah, you don't ask ... probably better to not know.

Me and wife get our place again, we got a washer and dryer. Be nice to not need a laundry again. For that matter, have a spot for it, I might put out a clothes line for drying. Nothing better than fresh air dried clothes. :)

Doing well still here. Wife and I are keeping busy. She's still working from home. Im back to work full time. After 8 or 9 week of not working. A few weeks into it, and my whole body hurts! I got lazy over the shutdown! Spent the weekend cleaning up our yards, the flower bed and getting the bird feeders squirrel proof. Dang squirrels and chipmunks are stealing all the bird feed. Bought some squirrel baffles to put on the poles. They can't figure out how to get around them.

Oh and spent an hour cleaning out the gas tank, spark plug and carburetor on my push mower after my wife ran a tank of 2 cycle through it. Tells me it isn't running right and keeps stalling. 2 cycle in an engine that just wants regular gas will do that! I was more amused than upset. Had my FIL come help me change the blades on the riding mower yesterday. The same one that rolled his gravel train. He was fired for that because they decided he was driving too fast. This is like job number 75 he's lost over the last 15 or so years. I think my MIL is going to leave him... seriously.

Strange times we are all finding ourselves in. It just seems to be effecting everyone in a slightly different way.

Please be safe, be kind, and be humble.

We have those narrow country roads as well. The road we live on is one of them. I'd never seen roads like these in my life until we moved to Virginia about 20 years ago.

The bullies on the road here are driving logging trucks. They drive like bats out of hell, taking up the whole road, don't care if they scare the living daylights out of you or even put you in the ditch. Otherwise, most people are very aware of the narrow roads and will slow down when approaching oncoming traffic.

@MyMagicMist around here it's pronounced StANTon, as you said. Also, BYOONA Vista, instead of Buena Vista. There are other weird ones, just can't think of them right at the moment. Oh BUCKanon, instead of Buchanan. BOT-E-TOT is Boutetort. Jeez. Strange.

People underestimate the summer heat and humidity in the mountains. I think the most uncomfortable heat I've ever experienced in my life was at Chimney Rock down in Carolina. Thought I was gonna drop dead that day before we could get back to the car.

Where I grew up in Eastern KY it was coal trucks. Idiots. Many of my HS friends goal in life was to drive a coal truck...
At the time a DOT licence was not required to drive them.

A friend was an owner/driver and got laid up for a couple of week and conned me into driving his truck for him. Horrible and reinforced my decision to not want to drive one.

Morning!

All is well here, temp is down to 70* today. Feels chilly.

Jessie is all tuckered out from chasing a moth this morning. Hubby thought she was going to destroy his office. She has no care at all about the damage incurred in the fight against the trespasser. Computer, pencil cup, paperwork, curtains, shelving, doesn't matter to her.
I told him it was good exercise for him to clean up after her, lol. He was sure cheering her on to finally catch it!

Stay safe and healthy

Good morning VU!

Another great day here in the “Real SoCal”

Sorry Los Angeles you’re central imo

Wife is with her bestie this morning on hiking trails in San Clemente... I have her checking in with me every hour, said, “if you see people starting to gather you must leave”. She agreed, and I sent her on her way with the Sabre Pepper spray (coyotes, people, what not lol)

Family is doing good, me same same

Be safe everyone!

Be rad!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed going to Cru Winery yesterday for lunch on the patio. I had a bacon and turkey sandwich and my wife had a almond chicken sandwich that were provided by the crew at Cru for a dollar a piece from Panera Bread. Throw in a bottle of wine for $16 and that made a wonderful afternoon lunch date. They had 6 tables set up on the patio spaced apart, but we could still talk to folks and have a good time. No masks, no gloves and a somewhat return to normal.

This week will be hot as hell. The weather guessers are predicting 109°F for several days. That will totally suck.

Me, my wife, and the critters are all doing fine.

@~Don~ LaLa land is not central Cali by any stretch of the mind. Anything south of the Grapevine is SoCal.:giggle:

Monday check. Took a vaca day today, so it's a day I'm not at work. I'm happy. I love my job, most of the people I work with, but breaks are very nice, too. It's nice to get a break from the mask/gloves. God bless those that spend far more time in them. You have my sympathies.

We're taking his mom to the cemetery today and to pay our own respects to his dad, who was a navy vet and passed last summer. It's a hot day with a heat index of 91 right now. Seems too soon for that, so I fear for what comes in the later months.

@misswish, my Fitz was also chasing a moth last night, that got in when the dog came back in from hanging out with her human dad in the yard. Kitty was so fixed on that moth, had that look of "kitten eyes" going. The most destructive he gets, so far, is jumping up and trying to attack the TV.

Everyone be safe. <3

We have those narrow country roads as well.

Got them round the way here, third. I'd figure ya find 'em all down into at least GA.

Grew up with no dryer. Just bad when you bring in a wasp or two with the laundry...
Edit: I love tumble dryers and perma press :D
never found an iron that would fit my hand.

We had a dryer but would use a line when I was growing up in VA. We had electric irons bu also used Mini's old iron you heated on a stove and a pan of water, bit of corn starch.

Where I grew up in Eastern KY it was coal trucks. Idiots

Chicken trucks, apple and logging ./ timbering trucks in VA, in WV mainly timbering trucks.

Have lived in four or five different areas in N Carolina and a couple different places in Georgia. Never seen roads like this in either place. The back roads are either full-size two-lane roads, or they are dirt.

Checking in. My sister and my niece are both out of the hospital. They were told to return if they start having symptoms. Great advice (yes I'm being sarcastic)
DH and I are doing ok. It's kinda sad though that now we can leave the house and we have nowhere to go. At least we don't have to go to the hospital!
Stay safe y'all. According to my sister this is one virus you don't want to get.

Good morning VU!

Beautiful day here in San Diego!

Going to go out and about in a bit... respectfully.

Take a drive along the coast, make a few stops in low populated areas and take pictures... try to have a day of past normalcy.

Totally forgot to mail my Nieces gift yesterday... there was something irking me all day that I had to get done, but got side tracked... then at 3pm I saw the box...DOH!

Now I have to wait til Tuesday and pay extra on shipping to ensure it arrives to her by Thursday LOL (Graduation)... uggh

Be rad everyone! Be safe!

Ear still boogered : no pain or pressure, just plugged... but 9 days of drops without cleaning it out probably the reason... I dunno, sort of embraced this as the new normal :facepalm
Hi. Can't they do anything about fixing that ear problem? That'd get annoying really quickly I'd imagine.

It’s not plugged today, but I have so much funk in it from drops that if I use anything to clean it, I know it will swell and close... it’s like a constant tickling of the ear canal hairs lol

But yeah, under normal life conditions I’d be all up in my docs emails, but I also dislike going to where other sick people are...

I have a really high threshold for pain, and my doc always says why I take so long to go in... I always respond, “I’d be annoyed with answering shit I can answer myself via google... you have more pressing things than me asking why my thumb hurts if I move it like this

I can deal with the slight loss of hearing, abused my hearing while in the field with no hearing protection... and the pressure and pain is gone, plus I can tease the wife...

Wife: Honey can you do this...

Me: What?

Wife: Honey can you do this for me...

Me, WHAT?

Wife: Nvm I got it

Got away for a fish today. Was so nice to do so. Unfortunately the fish were not biting, didn't even get 1 follow on my lure. But was it ever nice to go there. Was a pelican cruising about getting a feed of I assume small fish and it had a good feed too.
Was some geese there too from a nearby farm house. Was nice though to be there and forget about all the worries, sadness and crazy thats been goin on lately.
Hope you are all well.

Yep, the misses felt good today thanks. The geese were funny to watch and follow as they were between us and a spot we went to check out to have a fish next time we go there. Will have a go next week as it seemed like deeper water, perfect for the lures I use. But even though it was a no fish day, it was so great to get out and do what we love.
Still, I dont forget and know so many others dont have that privilege or opportunity to do so even if they wanted too. So I count myself, us, very blessed to be able to do so.
Stay well and safe Rhianne.

Wait until you find the single lane gravel roads with 75 ft drop offs on either side what snake around hairpin turns. *chuckles* They're all kinds of fun.

I hope I don't find those. Did find one around here when I was lost one day, that after twisting and winding all through the woods, came up to a damn wooden bridge that I wouldn't WALK across, let alone drive my car. I ended up backing up for about a quarter of a mile until I found a wider spot in the road where I could turn around.

I'm a chicken when it comes to that kind of stuff. Don't like giving my money to the insurance company just for shits and giggles. Also don't like being injured very much, kwim? lol

Good afternoon VU!

Ever make a $19 mistake?

Yeah that was me today.

Since I forgot to mail my nieces box out on Saturday, which would of arrived tomorrow in Arizona... I had the pleasure of what would of cost $8, become $27

Wife had fun yesterday and is currently back in her comfy office today and no longer in the float pool... way better than taking time off the past 6 weeks unpaid.

Ear amazingly just cleared up this morning and is normal (knock on wood) now I’ll get a reply from my doc and I’ll have to respond... my bad all good... then knowing my luck... pssh closed once that happens

I laugh shit off like that... tell the wife... it’s your God messing with me!

She looks at me funny...

I say then, ok maybe it’s mine... cause I’d fuck with me too like that

Be safe, be rad!

all fine here.
had to run to the big city to get prescriptions for wife and SIL. then ran to PO at the nearby little town to get money order and mail it off to pay for some Kratom I ordered. Could have gone to PO in big city but it is busier and more corona cases there than in the little town.
I fear paying for ordered vape stuff will be as difficult for paying for ordered Kratom after the now scheduled Sept vape crackdown.

Seems there has been ample time to stock up... vapepocolypse has been the fear even before 8/8/16...nearly 4years

Shame for anyone new...but equally shameful for those that haven’t planned ahead for long term sustainability.

Yep little sympathy for longtime vapers that have not stocked up and learned to DIY and use rebuildables.
New and future vapers though is a different story.

I am well set on hardware for the rest of my life also with nic in the freezer.
Actually I do not need to buy anything at all for around 2 more years.

It’s scheduled for September now? Crazy. Right now this country can’t afford to lose all the vape business it was getting.
