DIY Ejuice has a chemical taste?

Hey guys, I'm new to DIY Ejuice and I was wondering what I was doing wrong. So I made this recipe:

Mother's Unicorn Milk
Bavarian Cream (TPA)- %4
Cheesecake(Graham Crust) (TPA)- %5
Strawberry(Ripe) (TPA)- %10
Sweet Cream (TPA)- %4
Vanilla Custard (TPA)- %3

I made it at max VG and it tasted fine, a little sweet, but it tasted great. As soon as I made a batch of 50/50 Ejuice with the same exact recipe it had this perfume, chemical taste that was god awful. I Poured about 120ml of it and was wondering what I did wrong. Suggestions?

So you made this without adding any nicotine?

Was just wondering if the PG you added was nicotine PG based, and if so that might be why of where the nicotine came from.

It was just plain USP grade Propylene Glycole
Wow then you will have to taste each flavor on its own with PG to see which one is creating that taste with the PG, and if none found then it's a combination of flavors. Lots of testing to do.

Just looking at the TFA strawberry ripe. As a mixer it is used around 5%. As a stand alone a average of 9.5%. For me if I was going to use this recipe for 50/50 I would cut the percentages in half. Good luck!

I suspect this one needs a week minimum steep time.
The Bavarian Creams are kind-of off tasting for me unless they steep for a month, lol.

TFA Bavarian Cream is usually used around 1-2%.
TFA Sweet Cream I use 1-3% normally.
But you may need to use 10% Strawberry Ripe to taste any Strawberry IMO.
Much will depend on your taste buds tho.

Try to vape the 50/50 base without flavours first. Than add a flavour a time until you find out. Another suggestion: total flavours percentage around 12%

I disagree with having to keep flavors at 12%
Personally I find 12% to be bland most of the time. There is nothing wrong with 20% flavor recipes.

Edit: typing while on a moving train can be difficult.

I'd be willing to bet it's your PG. Where did you get it? Too much of it will yield a harsher juice, more throat hit. And please keep in mind that your flavoring is PG based as well. So 26% of your recipe is PG, plus what you added. Could be overkill for a sensitive palate.

Yeah, that's a heavy flavor recipe with a LOT of PG... that 76% estimate was probably spot on. gotta figure that in when mixing...

I did what you did at first, diving in headlong with crazy combinations. But take it slow man... you gotta try each individual flavor first, or you could wind up with some 120mL disasters :).

I love strawberry cream/custard vapes but that recipe is garbage imo. For me it's the graham crust and sweet cream at 5 and 4% that kills it. TFA sweet cream starts to have musty, gym sock flavor to it past 1-2%.

Yup, that's my normal range too, 1-2%.
CAP Sweet Cream seems more forgiving but I still only use 1-2%.
Think I've used 3% before but it's pretty rare.
But I have the same issue with the Bavarian Creams so less is more; for me anyway.

I'd lower the Cheesecake(Graham Crust) by 2/3. That can easily overpower everything else.
