OK, I'm new to the DNA but I'm having problems getting the TC right with ss316l. I have a bellus with dual 26g coils and the temp is WAY off. On my wife's evic mini I run this setup at 40 Watts and 400 to 420 degrees. Always the same vape. On the DNA with the CSV file from steam engine I end up running at 500 to 520 degrees, 400 degrees gives almost no vape. If I hit it a couple times and reset as a new coil(raising the cold ohms by about .02 according to escribe device manager) it works fine at 420 for a session but if I wait an hour hardly any vape again. This wouldn't be a big deal, I guess I could just set it high and go, but with a dripper I have set up with SS Clapton's (parallel 26g 316l core 34g kanthal wrap) I end up running at 300 degrees or lower and it's still damn hot. Same profile. Any reason why there is so much fluctuation? I know these are tottaly different coils but if it's the TC material that matters what's up? I ended up getting the DNA because it was supposed to be the best at TC, but the evic is beating it's ass right now. I'm sure I've gotten something wrong as I'm new to the DNA and escribe, but I don't see what. TC in ni200 is great though. Thanks in advance for any help!

Can you post a screen shot of your Mod settings in EScribe? Go to Mod tab and click Manufacturer Settings....do a screen shot of these settings...

What dna200 device do you have?

I vape most of my DIY eJuice at 420F. However, I'm using 47.5W. In addition, I calibrated both of my DNA mods (different brands), both were 0.02 Ohm too low on the internal resistance.

This is on a thinkvape panzer. They don't come with any settings, I ran the case analyzer but didn't do the batt (don't have the resistors, and worried about firing a coil untill the batt is dead. How do you calibrate the internal resistance? Just play untill it's right or is that in the batt analyzer?

Set my mod resistance to.01 and seems to be working on the tank. Will try the dripper tonight!

if it works with one, it should work with the other.
another bit of caution, tc tends to run little different on dual coil than single.
my average temp on single coil is 350-400 on dual its 470-510

Nope didn't work. After it set and came back down to room temp no vape. Hits temp protection immediately. Very frustrating! Will check out the set up link thanks!

there are different grades of 316l i would point you to the evolve early adopters forum for help with finding a material profile that will work better for you.

Thank you so much! That's exactly what I was looking for. Seems like my problem is fairly common. Found several things to try. Thanks again!

A couple of things come to mind. SS316 has a very low TCR, it's right on the edge of what our mods can accurately TC (imo). Because of this I find it can be a tad finicky. You want to make sure when using it your post screws are tightened snugly, 510 connections clean, etc. I've switched over to SS430 because it's TCR is ~50% higher than 316.

When I was using 316L I found I got better results using spaced coils. I'm not saying it's impossible to get get good results using contact coils, just that I got better results with spaced. In the end I switched to SS430 and I've never looked back.

Thanks for the input. I'm new to SS. I started with kanthal and ni200 and have had good results with both. Tried the SS because nickel is a pain to work with and I haven't find a good way to clean the coils. I dry burn and tewick at least once a week and I found when using nickel I would have to twist new coils when they gunk up. I'm really liking the flavor and ease of use of the SS, works amazing in power mode. I will definitely try the 430 next time I get wire. I was hoping the DNA would TC the ss316l though. My wife's evic mini rocks the TC with the setup I'm using. Just swapping it to the DNA (after letting it come back to temp) and it won't run worth shit in TC. I have nickel running great on it so I think the setup as far as mod resistance goes. I set it up to .007 after checking with copper wire- got anything from .006 to .19 with testing but after playing with a known setup with nickel I settled on .007. Thanks again!

That was another I was having issues with. Parallel 26g ss316l with 34g kanthal wrap. Set cotton on fire at 300f. Straight 316l coils won't vape untill about 580 to 600 in my bellus. Still tweaking and getting better but definitely not there yet.
