Almost everything machined, electronic, etc. from China is made in Shenzen. Most companies have at least 1 or 2 people specifically for EU and US customers. At the very least they speak broken english, but they like to use skype and google translate to communicate. It can be a bit of a hassle as they don't understand the way we say some things, or don't have the context.
I'd say the biggest issue is that you kinda have to work with them on their schedule which is pretty much opposite of us, so it's generally lots of late nights and misunderstandings. Sometimes they can be shady as hell too, and that doesn't help.
Check out sites like Alibaba, or AliExpress sometime, you can get just about anything at cost if you don't mind the hassle involved.
Yes, but usually there is a minimum order quantity to get the cheaper price. With the dhl shipping that dre is using so it doesn't take a month to get here, it would be close to $55 to buy just one.
That is often very true. It's pretty expensive for 3 day DHL (Which is a real thing, I swear. Totally awesome) and MOQ varies by brand and product, but it's always cheaper for more. Basically just buying wholesale like the majority of vape shops and sites do.
500 g is definitely a bit heavier than I expected. I figured it'd be heavy, but wow!
ETA - For reference, my EHPRO New Yorker, which is pretty thick copper, weighs in around 300 grams.
Another ETA - point being that the New Yorker is a single batt tube, so a squonker with the same wall thickness could conceivably come in around 500. Not sure what the weight difference is between copper and brass, but guessing these aren't super thin walls.

It's coming in at 1.2lbs (19.4oz) so that seems about right. There are plenty of mods, especially brass, copper and SS that sit right around there (the Black Oak, and Kryptonite come to mind) so yeah, there are others out there, but not many, hence why so many mechs nowadays are made of aluminum (not a fan myself).
This thing ain't light for sure, but at least it will feel like a quality piece of kit, and can be polished up real nice unlike a painted device.
Now we just need to see about some silver or rhodium plated contacts...

I doubt you'll find any, will probably have to have pieces plated. And you'll need to find someone who does it correctly. Don't know if the increased resistance to oxidation will offset the cost. But if you do find a source I would be interested. There might be a slight increase in conductivity vs. the existing contacts also, especially if they are not clean/oxidized.
