No idea either; just something I read *somewhere* *sometime* about the 300 days of rain per year. And every single time I've ever seen pics of Seattle, it's always wet or raining. I would truly hate that. My idea of a good climate is... Aruba! :D They're out of the path of most of the Atlantic hurricanes, and generally get very little rain -- a real "desert island". My husband and I moved back to Atlanta from MI back in '90; he';s from St Louis, and he says he likes the climate here for the most part... except that we get so much rain -- when the northern parts of the US get snow in the winter, we usually just get rain. I always say that ATL has just 2 seasons -- rain and hell -- and sometimes they coincide (those ice storms, and the occasional tornado).

I took a picture of a cloud passing the other day, for a screen saver.

Don't see clouds often, but when I do it's a real treat...

Seems there is two kinds of Brains. The "I can remember, calculate, reason, analyze, etc. etc." brain. Usually driven by wanting to do it better, faster, cheaper, more logically, whatever.. that seems to come with wiring in their SHORTS. Sadly, they seldom also get the gifts of creativity, natural talent except for the cerebral aspect. Then there are the artists, the poets, the song writers, musicians, and a cadre of others who benefit from the Left Side Brain. Some of those also get the analytical brain, and can be spectacular. But this group is more prone to come with shorts in their wiring. It is what it is. There is a fine line between genius and crazy.

I have mirror hands. If one hand moves, the other does too. I can use them independently of one another times, but I am not naturally ambidextrous. My uncle Buddy is naturally so and he tried teaching it to me. I got mediocre at it, at best. My hands though have to both be moving if one does.

I'm also not quite the centered focus type of person. Grew up with a step father that would rattle of twenty things to do as one thing, just as you'd start on that he'd rattle off another twenty ad infinitum. Served in navy and realized some that may have influenced his 'way' in that regard.

Highly intelligent here. Do not hold to bragging but if I recall properly I could be in MENSA. I choose not being, I'm dumber than my wife but smart enough to know that's fine. Emotions are a cluster fuck for me. I get them very passionately and often forget to think, think before I let something out.

Come across as reserved, maybe a bit abrasive at times. Not truly a big old bad ass gruff sum-a-bitch. I can be if needed but that is not me. I rather everything flow according to nature, be peaceful, no conflict, drama. Used to do a lot of highly stressful work, playing too. Used to be very good at the high stress work.

Now, finding I have to be centralized in focus, no to little stress. I need to avoid doubts, especially of myself. Bit funny in that I'm kind of the same as my dog Sherlock. We have to send him away. See me really trying to get him sent away though, eh? Truthfully though, he does need a job, hunting would be that for him.

I'm weary from the testosterone fueled intellectual posturing in the Boreas thread

Hurry, everyone, go post your IQ and current status with Mensa.

My IQ's 50% more than "average"... but I always thought Mensa would be a total waste of time. Frankly I'd rather just read a good book. :D

I can attest -- I'm extremely analytical, excellent at arithmetic and accounting, shitty at higher math -- good at music, writing, drawing, and anything with color -- and have struggled with depression and anxiety my ENTIRE life, along with drug and alcohol addiction.

One thing I found that I really, really enjoy, is web design -- it allows a fine meshing of the right and left sides of the brain -- right for the color and balance and feel, left for the code and neat/clean-ness of the site's function. To me it feels like a perfect marriage to get my right and left brain communicating!

Andria

ETA: another good way to get the two sides communicating is gardening./landscaping -- it's extremely aesthetic, to have it look really great... but it takes a lot of planning, lots of measuring of distances and area and also measuring chemicals for various things -- it's also very hard on the physical body! Excellent treatment for depression, for sure!

Interesting, didn't see this coming.
Majority Media | Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee | Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs Committee
The FDA has gotten a probing letter from the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

A couple of key quotes
"Unfortunately, the FDA’s attempt to improve the public’s health by scrutinizing the e-cigarette industry could ultimately result in negative unintended health consequences"

"How is the FDA’s regulation of e-cigarettes not a premature restriction on an industry given the FDA’s admission that it does not have “sufficient data” about e-cigarettes to determine the effects on the public’s health?"

"Did the FDA determine how many e-cigarette businesses will be affected by the rule? If not, why?
If so, please provide that data."

They have been given until May 31 to answer the various questions the committee has.

depression and anxiety
I struggled with anxiety when I was young. Especially working 2 jobs and going to college. That was rough. As for depression, several years back I had some huge life changing events happen consecutively and found myself not wanting to get out of bed anymore. But, citalopram helped pull me out of it. Don't want to ever go down that road again -- but I've learned coping mechanisms from it. Good thing is, I'm finally back to my nutty silly self. I feel your pain dear Andria. :inlove:

Sin is a point of view.
Which is transitory even in religions.
I spent the first 16 years of my life being indoctrinated into religion.
Things that were a sin then in that religion are no longer a sin somehow.

I view a sin as doing another human wrong.
End of description.

What about folks that walk on your lawn?
