eGrip OLED-CL (V3)

I love mine! I'm traveling right now and I brought 2 with me and my Sigelei 150wtc. I keep grabbing the eGrip. I did try to charge it with the usb port in the car. Didn't work. Said it was charging, but I think it was so slow I couldn't do pass through. No biggie, but would have been nice!
I love mine also. How often do you change your wicks? I figure when the coil goes bad in a few weeks that's when I will give the CL coils a try. I just wish I could figure why it's leaking a little. Nothing compared to the leaks I had with the RBA. How close do you cut the cotton?

I haven't rebuilt the CLR yet. But, I did notice the cotton comes through the juice flow holes on it. On the RBA I've been using the prebuilt coils with the cotton already built and haven't had as many leaking issues. But, if I just re-wick I err on the "too much" side. I rebuilt a couple that leaked like crazy and I think I didn't have enough cotton.

I'm over a week on the CLR and still vaping great! I'm only a few days into the CL but am probably going to put the CLR in it when I get back home this weekend. I read where someone said they were getting 2-3 weeks out of the CLR before rebuilding.

you might take it out and double check the other o-rings. I think the replacement ones they send are better than the way it comes (stock). I also take the drip tip off and clean it there, turn it upside down and blow it out. I think the key is getting any juice out of the airflow. I hope you get it fixed. I may pose that issue to Joyetech.us. They have been very responsive to questions I've had with my VT.

Yes, I heard the coil will last a month before you have to rebuild. I have been changing the cotton on the CLR's every 4 days, much easier then the RBA.

I use "Native Wicks" cotton and it last much long than Japanese cotton on all my builds. I may not have to rewick these CLR heads for a month!

Wow, really a month on the same cotton? I'm using the Japanese cotton. Where do u get the native wicks cotton?

I don't remember where I ordered it. But, if you go to their website nativewicks.com they have a vendor list. It's usually about 7.99 but one "puck" gets me over 100 builds. I did a review of it http://vapingunderground.com/threads/native-wicks-review.106967. There are a couple pics and how I use it. I think I even put where I got it in the review.

Ha, I was just reading your review. I found it looking on here to see what people thought. I will be purchasing it tomorrow. I'm tired of re wicking every 3 - 4 days. Thanks for the info :D Now it seems you say that it is fluffy, you wet the end to get in the coil which I do with the KGD but you roll it thinner and it will fluff up?

@rolltidevaper here are 2 pictures with the silicone cap on the CLR and then here is 2 pics of how they break. I also changed all of my o-rings like you suggested so I will see if that helps. I'm also trying 1 eGrip with the silicone cap and 1 without to see. I also ordered the Native Wicks to see how that works. Now you say you don't have to change your cotton for like a month. Doesn't your coil get gunked up in that time. I change my KGD every 3-4 days and when I do that I dry burn the coils. So you don't dry burn the month your cotton lasts? One more question the airflow scew, where do you keep it... in all the way, out or about half way? Thanks for all your help!

I won't promise you a month with the native wicks, but I think you'll get a lot more than with KGD. I usually change mine just because it's been a while. But, I diy my juice and make a very "light" colored juice at 60VG/40PG. I know all of that affects the wick. As far as the screw, I have it in till its at least flush, or on one I've taken it out altogether.

On your CLR are you using the "top" cap that screws in? It looks like you're using the silicone ring instead? Am I just seeing that wrong? If not, then that's why I'm having trouble getting the silicone on.

I am using the cap that screws on. The silicone caps are a pain to get on but they do get there eventually and then break. I talk to Joyetech yesterday and they said another person also complained about the silicone breaking but it's too new to know why. I did try 1 without the silicone and it leaked pretty bad. Today no leaks with the new o-rings so maybe you were right the stocks ones aren't good. Thanks :D

I'm doing a horrible job at responding right now. Sorry! I put a new build in my Kayfun Lite Plus last night. I was able to cut a piece that was perfect in size (almost no trimming) and I used about 1/3 width. I just rolled it very tight, and then unrolled it once in the coil(I didn't need to wet the ends on this one). It is wicking great! The wick I have in another Kayfun Lite is over 3 weeks old (still going strong, Kanthal). I change my nickel coils every couple of weeks and change the wick (but the wick is still great). I just find nickel hard to "rewick".

No problem getting back to me, I appreciate the help. When you rewick the CLR is it also cut about 1/3 of the width? I see people say the Native Wicks Cotton isn't good for tanks and is just for dripping. I have the Native Wicks coming hopefully tomorrow, I love trying new cotton. I'll give you an update. Were you able to get the silicone cap on the cap?

I use Native Wicks in my tanks and love it. I haven't rebuilt a CLR yet, but plan to use it. I was worried that it wouldn't wick well, I think you'll understand when you get it. But, it has wicked incredibly well in all my tanks (and that's about all I use, not a dripper). I think if I build on a 2.5 mm rod I would use the same amount. I may build on a 2mm rod for the CLR and use about 1/4 width. I'll keep you posted. I haven't tried the silicone yet, but I plan to tomorrow. I'll let you know. I wasn't very successful the first time :)

I finally got the silicone ring on the CLR. Maybe since I knew it was really supposed to be there I had a little more patience. :) I hope I don't have to change it for a couple weeks so maybe I won't have to worry about it breaking. Did Joyetech offer to send any out since they know about the problem? Or, do they sell just the silicone rings? And, so far no leaking at all. I've changed the bases on all my original eGrips to the CL and they are working great. Just have to make sure they are screwed in tight and no problems.

Hey glad you got the silicone cap on! I had another break yesterday, that's five in 3 weeks. You won't have to change it as long as it last. Even if you use a new CLR coil just use your old cap with silicone still attached. Either the stem is sharp and cutting the cap or it's just from tightening it. But I don't over tighten it. If it's the stem being sharp then all my eGrips are sharp because it happens on all of them. Joyetech is sending me out 3 more, and might start selling them in the future.

So far the last few days no leaks, yay!

I got the Native Wicks cotton, so far so good. Taste is good but not a huge difference from the KGD hopefully it will last longer.

Do your original eGrips include a non-oled version? I've got one of those so I was curious if the CL bases will work okay in them or not. I'll eventually get another one of the newer version but it would be nice if I could use the CL base in the older one too.

I think it will, but you have to build the coil 1.2 Ohms or higher for the v1. The CL heads (ego one) will fit. Should get my bases in a couple days, will let ya know.

I have three of the "non" OLED original eGrips. I bought the CL bases from Joyetech and changed them all. I'm using the CLR heads which are at 1.0 ohms and they're working great! The only trick I've found, thanks to @Whiskey, is to make sure and screw the heads in the base tight and then I make sure the base is screwed in tight too, not break it tight, but tight. The older version eGrips are not "supposed" to work below 1.2 ohms, but so far so good for me. I haven't rebuilt one yet, but will try and not build below 1 ohm.

I hope you like it! I have all kinds of KGD but have not touched it since I started the NW. I have replaced it more than once after 3 or more weeks and it's not even burnt under the coil. I'm hesitant to "over sell" something, but in my experience it's been great. Good luck with it and thanks for all the help with the silicone.

I'm still having an issue with the silicone cap breaking weekly! Anyone else having this issue. Plus do you use the side to fill or are you unscrewing the base to fill?

None of mine have had broken seals. I use the side fill all the time ,never the bottom, once I have it snug, I don't like to over use it because folks are having the seals break.

I'm talking about the silicone cap that goes on the CLR coils. Is that what you are talking about @Whiskey ?

I've been experimenting with the CLR coils. The .5 coils have much better airflow than the 1 ohm. The difference is in the pin. If you want to use the 1 ohm coils but would like more air flow you can use the pin from the .5 or drill out the center of the pin on the 1 ohm. That goes for the CL as well as the pins are interchangeable. The air flow with the .5 pin and the air adjustment screw installed but backed off to about flush so it's not restricting (mine whistles a bit with it out) is pretty close to that of the RBA. YMMV.

As soon as I get it all laid out and photographed, I will be scaling down my mod collection again, and for my Egrip gear I have tons, old new and everything in between from coils to bases to bodies, I thought I would give a heads up in here first, it will all go in one lot for one price, this is not because I don't like them, it's because I don't use them ....Stay tuned

This is so rare I had to mention it. They don't have a section here but since it was a CL base I ordered I posted it here. I ordered a CL base for my Egrip V1 from Cignot today. $4.75 and $5 shipping. Now I know part of this is timing but I placed the order at 5:18 p.m. my time, they gave me a shipping notice and tracking number at 5:36 p.m. and that tracking is live and good, not just pre shipment info but showing the item as picked up by USPS. Now the USPS can certainly screw it up but as far as placing an order and having it actually ship this is the fastest anything I've ordered vape wise has hit the mail. Kudo's to Cignot.
