Okay, so an alarm goes off at 9:30, I wake up turn it off then realize it's Friday and the bus will be here to pick up my son in 8 minutes. Crap...
His bus driver has been driving him to school since he started going to school at 3 for the special needs early childhood program and I have his cell, so I text him to let him know that he needs to pick up Ethan on the run out of the neighborhood instead of the run into it (means he has to be walked across the street which is an adventure and safety hazard).
Then I run, okay well I hobble, to my sons room passing by my old office where it turns out he is playing with the computer. He sees me and says "school". I say "yep buddy and we gotta hurry because Mike will be here in 15 minutes to pick you up".
Being the good boy that he is (better than most kids who don't have autism...) he runs to his room and then hops onto his bed. I started grabbing clothes and then start to process the fact that it's now probably about 9:32 and his bus picks him up at 7:38... Now I'm all WTF?
I look at the window and it's dark outside. Well we are getting pretty close to the fall time change so it is staying dark later but this is a bit ridiculous... I now slow down enough to double-check the time and it looks like a "9" something I assume is a ":" followed by what must be a "3" and something greater than zero, but I'm getting older and need reading glasses now... So I duck into my bedroom, grab my glasses and confirm it is now 9:33pm. PM? PM? WTF? PM? And it dawns on me that because all the pain, seizure and migraine meds I take combined with constant discomfort makes me fall asleep at really weird times since I'm an insomniac now, I have an alarm set to wake me up at night so that I can put my son to bed so that I can then get him up at 6:30 to get ready for the bus that picks him up at 7:30. WTF!!!
Now the story isn't done yet because I get a text from Mike, you remember him right, the bus driver, that says "K".
My "Mild Cognitive Impairment" kicks in and I have no idea why Mike is texting me, so I reply back with "What?"
He then sends "Do u want me to get ethan on second round?" which, after checking the text log helps me remember that I had send him a text about 5 minutes before that telling him to pick Ethan up on the trip out of the neighborhood vs. in.
Feeling stupid, I decide to play it off and just say "no, why?"
A bit later I get back "U just text me"...
By this time I've got Ethan into bed and I've sat down reaching for my vape deciding that tonight is a good time to vape the last of my WTF and just not respond... Wonder what he'll say in the morning?
