So, today a surprise gift from Pioneer4You arrived! As a thank-you for being patient while the IPV4 went through its lengthy development delays (and perhaps to assure us the IPV4s we ordered aren’t literally vaporware), P4U sent us a silver pre-launch IPV4 in generic non-retail packaging. They’ve also assured me that the full initial Smog Distribution IPV4 pre-order would ship from China by the end of next week (i.e. around May 8th), so if you ordered your IPV4 from us — rejoice! The wait is nearly over, after close to 3 months for some of us.

Mini-Review:
This mod is excellent, overall. It feels sturdy and solid as hell. It’s actually smaller than it seemed in pics — it’s no 50W iStick, but it’s perceptibly smaller than an IPV3. The magnetic battery cover slides on and off smoothly & clicks into place satisfyingly. The battery door/cover actually appears to be a hard plastic material with a thick, durable rubber surface molded on -- not a metal door with a fragile, flake-prone coating, as many expected.
The SX330V4S chipset works perfectly in VW mode up to 100W, as expected. Menu design and layout is quite efficient and much more readable than an SX350’s cluttered screen. The battery life bar displays sag in real-time when you’re firing a build, and the memory settings are handy. The one feature, the temperature control, that everyone is dying to hear about was NOT included in this prelaunch device’s firmware, so I can’t give any insight into that yet. Once P4U/Yihi has posted the promised V4S Joule firmware “TC upgrate” online for download, I’ll flash it and make a post about that too. For now, the video P4U recently posted of the IPV4’s Joule mode in action will have to suffice.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! I know this is probably the most anxiously awaited mod of the year so far (except the Cloudmaker Whiteout, but I *may* be biased there... =P), so I wanted to share this ASAP. More info might be found in the comments of this thread on reddit, if you're looking for every last bit of news.
