Flavor concentration (newb alert)

I have been googling for a couple hours now, to the point that I can barely remember what my original question was, so I am breaking down and asking for help.

FlavorArt makes flavors that appear to be more economical because they are more concentrated.

FusionFlavours seems to indicate that FlavorArt's products are generally intended to be mixed at 2-3% of the final product, whereas most other brands are meant to constitute 15-20%.

Is there a downside to using higher concentrations?

One disadvantage might be that for small batches, a slight mis-measurement could spoil the batch. But on larger batches a small error wouldn't be so significant.

Any other concerns?

Many of us use mainly Flavor Art, not just because they are so concentrated your final mix has a low percentage of flavoring, but also because so many of the flavors are excellent! I used to mix tiny batches (5ml) by drops so it wasn't hard to make test batches. Using all FA I rarely go over a total of 8% of blended flavors in a mix (so rarely more than, say 2% of a single flavor).

And welcome to the VU :)

I'm going to move this thread to the DIY forum so you'll get more views.

This isn't always the case though as many can be used at around 5% IMO.
Don't be afraid to use other brands besides FA.
As many of the INW flavors are about the same strength as FA.

Besides what has been mentioned already, if you're aiming for high VG eJuice, it is better to have to use lower percentages on flavors. Most flavors are in PG.

Welcome to the fam.

Hmmm. So the sense here is to add something new.

I also like FA flavors for my fruits because I like how realistic or true to flavor of xyz. I personally don't enjoy candy sweet fruits. I want real tasting fruits that I can add my own spin.

Another high flavor concentrate brand would be medicinal flower.

Welcome!

I believe your main concern should be finding the flavor(s) you enjoy most.

Some flavor companies are sometimes more suited to the category of juice you wish to mix and Flavor quantity should not be a concern. For instance, if you are a custard juice fan, FA may (or may) not provide the custard profile you are seeking in your finished juice. If you are a tobacco fan, you may wish to take a look at some of the flavors Inawera offers.

There can be a bunch of cost savings by DIYing. Sometimes cutting flavor costs may not be the place to do it based on quantity. (It's often suggested you first purchase various flavors you would wish to try in small quantities.)

Oh boy. That's a tough one. Ummm. Well imagine rounding up all the dark berries and mashing it together. That what I get from forest fruit. I'm sure there are little touches of odd flavors but it's a mix of strawberry rassberry blackberry billberry and and. Ugg. And more. Maybe dragonfruit lyche.

I would interested if someone has a good answer

Unfortunately the Forest Fruit was a flop for me at 1-2%.
Should have been called Forest Fruit Confusion IMO:D.
Tough for me to really pick out anything that even tastes familiar in it.
But I suspect it's mostly the Blackberry & Bilberry, which I don't like anyway.
