Whats wrong with my taste buds?!
So when I follow someone's easy to follow FA flavored recipes, they are never strong enough. Is this normal? I'm vaping with a Nautilus mini or a Ehpro Russian clone sitting on a provari. Using a 50/50 16.7 nic base, purchased from VT. Is odd that I'm having to double %'s to het a faint taste of something? Cinn Ceylon at 4% is faint! Caramel at 8%...where is it? LoL Whats wrong with my "buds"?!

I had the same issue but when I started DIY I was only 2 weeks cigarette free. So I upped nearly everything. Now 5 months with no smokes I find myself cutting a lot of them down if not in half. I wouldn't look at it necessarily as a bad thing Zeeli. Just find where it tastes good and take if from there:)

I think @Emilie and @wllmc OR @Cramptholomew might use similar equipment. Hopefully one of them can chime in and lead the way for you. But, yes, like Edd and MissWish said, make it taste good to you.

I did the same thing at first, but I'm getting a lot closer to normal percentages after just a couple months. I know the whole cigarettes blunt taste side of things, but I also think it takes a little while for some to perceive these artificial flavorings. I haven't smoked for many years but started vaping to quit oral tobacco. Still, there was some sort of process where I needed really high percentages when I started DIY but not so much now.

edit: Also, single flavoring recipes are much more difficult for me to taste than ones with a few different flavorings in there.

I found that after 4 months my taste buds started waking up. and not all at the same time. Each week they would change, and so my favorite juices were left in a drawer stranded like a dead fish. Moral? Don't mix big bottles. :)

I find that wearing a Fedora helps. Creams and sweets in particular are much easier to detect when adorned in a Fedora. With that said, hats are subjective.

I find vaping naked on a park bench works a lot better than the Fedora. J/K!!

I have been Vaping for almost 2 yrs now. So I can safely say, no analogs in the last 20 months. I guess I just need to find that happy balance of flavor.

Funny you should mention that! I noticed on the clear FA bottles that they appeared to be a little light in respect to volume whereas the amber bottles seemed to be practically full. Perhaps the later is merely an illusion however due to the difficulty in seeing the contents of said bottle(s).

I got a pretty big order from that sale. Fill levels were all over the place on 10ml bottles, but 30ml bottles were more consistent. The lowest 30 I found had a little over 27ml. The lowest 10 had less than 8ml - and it wasn't one that had leaked. That 8ml was a FE flavor, not FA.

It has been around 15 months since I sneaked my last cig. My tastes and preferences change day to day; I don't know if it's related to being an ex-smoker or not. My solution is the same as yours. I avoid mixing big bottles!

I saw the price of their capella flavors suddenly went up once we got this coupon. And that price match button is apparently just for show....but I still order from them if I can't get flavors somewhere else.
@AmandaD Are you experiencing problems with the price match feature? We approve requests daily, and our system is set up to automatically email you a coupon code for the price difference upon approval. The price match feature also allows us to lower the price permanently. My goal is to have competitive pricing on all of our products, so please let me know if you are having problems so that we can fix them. :)

@Zeeli, my taste buds were very damaged when I first quit smoking. They're still improving six months later, but I still have a hard time with some flavors.

I found that using the BVCs like you're using in your Nautilus Mini helped, and Kayfuns helped even more, but I still get disappearing flavors from time to time.

I don't think there's much you can really do other than just increase your flavors for now. Taste buds will hopefully recover after some time. Mine still are.

Yes, I did it for several capella flavors a month or so ago, but nothing ever happened so I bought them elsewhere!

Im at a little over a year vaping and I am noticing that my taste budds are still coming back. I do however get used to flavors quickly so I rotate juices and tanks alot.

This is truly my problem, too. I get used to flavors almost immediately, and it's like vaping VG and Nic only after a very short time. When I first put a flavor in my tank it's generally very vivid.

This happens to me too Emilie and I keep a bunch of devices of varying designs on hand with different juices. It helps. There are flavors that never lose their flavor and that I like also. Off the top of my head are Cookie, Raspberry, Fuji Apple, Bilberry, Lime Distilled, Maple Syrup, Torrone (currently my favorite), Peppermint, Coffee Expresso, and all of the tobaccos. Most of the others just visit me on their timetable or are part of the mix. Some recipes though take many, to me, mild flavors and turn them into masterpieces of flavor. an example of which is HIC's Peanut butter. This is holding up very well as an ADV.

I keep a various tanks and recipes handy all the time.
Here's one stash with recipes in testing (front box) and a few favorites to vape this week (in back).

It's usually fuller. That empty spot is waiting for some inspirations and time.

I'm pretty good about vaping a tank from start to finish (3 mls) but I'm not very good at vaping the same flavor back to back.

@HeadInClouds inspiration? How about cinnamon caramel apple? Probably easy for you though lol

I'm vaping caramel cinnamon atm which is pretty good but it feels like it might be better with apple.

If you have a caramel+cinnamon that you like already, try just 0.5-1% FA Fuji added in. I wouldn't use FA Apple for that.
I like candy apples made with melted red hots. That's really simple, but I vaped a lot of it around Halloween.

Thats all I have at the moment, Fuji. I think I will vape this tank like it is, and add the Fuji to what's left in the bottle lol

I just stick with a dripper and I always have something fruity, something bakery, and a tobacco on hand. I don't mind a little flavor mixing with the fruits and bakery, but you do have to be more careful with the tobaccos. Usually a round of unflavored in between works for me.

BTW, anybody that's registered over at http://e-liquid-recipes.com have their flavor stash up to date?

I bought some ready made Gingerbread Cookie from a vender so I did not have to pay shipping lol Anyway it is too strong, so I mixed it half and half with unflavored base but it still tastes to me like just ginger lol what cream should I use to mellow it out a bit?o_O

Vienna Cream to make it creamier and keep/make it sweet.
But maybe you want to add some Cookie, too - or instead.

I added 2 drops to my 1.5ml evod and it seems to have done something, if it doesn't help more I may add some vanilla to help lower the ginger lol Thank You for the advice:)

How'd you get to that @RyGon ?

I just registered the other day and don't know how to add flavors to my stash! Do I have to type all that in by hand? It will take quite a while if I do.

That's why I haven't added all mine! But it would be worth it - in the end:D

I just did it. It's really quite intuitive. Mind you I only have a few flavors. But by typing fa first, then the first few letters of the flavor, it auto suggests what it may be..

It's a great system. But when you have several hundred it's a daunting prospect!

Don't examples show the manufacturer at the end? If one person puts FA at the beginning and another at the end, the recipe wouldn't show up on a search, would it? I read there were many variations that caused trouble for people. ave they been consolidated?

I'm pretty sure I have fewer than 50 flavors. I'm not a very obedient DIYer. :p

@Dixie1954, I just wanted to say that I LOVE your avatar. If I didn't have my late puppy as my desktop, it's exactly what I'd love to have as my image.
