It's me again - and this IS an FA related question I promise...
... I have all glass tanks at the moment... but was looking at one that is acrylic.... has anyone had any experience with a flavor cracking a tank? (FA flavors, that is since that's pretty much all I'll be using)
I've been looking around and haven't found anything...except for an old post that said tiramisu does. which is interesting. I thought it was only fruity types that did it.
But just want to be sure.
Tiramisu won't hurt even crappy, thin, cheap-o plastic tanks. None of FA's coffees or chocolates will. I actually tested some of my favorite flavors (full strength) once. Full strength Cola will crack plastic. Anise was suspect, and one of the lime flavors.
But the GLUE used to hold some tanks together can be more sensitive than the plastic! Lots of flavors (applied full strength) caused leaks at glued seams, including Mango, Cardamom, Peppermint, Mad Fruit, all the Citrus flavors, Kiwi...there were other fruits.
Now I just use glass most of the time. My partner still uses plastic a lot, including recipes with 3-4% Lemon Sicily and 3% Strawberry, never with any trouble.
With the variety of glue and plastic formulations available, you may get different results. Better glue can hold up to some of the flavors I mentioned. None of FA's flavors cause that instant seize-and-melt reaction with plastic/rubber syringes that some flavorings from other manufacturers do.
