Thanks for the answers guys but damn, even after all the research i did, i can't grasp how 1-2% can be enough.
The flavour i used before this, 20% and..well..nothing. I am literally vaping pure vg-pg with no flavour or smell at all.
FA Tiramisu at anything over 2% would result in a coffee flavoured vanilla biscuit covered in cream and chocolate running out of your nose on exhale.

That's just typical of the FA flavours I've used to date.

I'm just really getting into FA now and lurked here reading recipes and comments by the HIC's, Huckleberries, retox's and other great VU mixologists and have stuck to their advise regarding % use and have ever been disappointed.

FA Catalan and Fresh Cream were two of the very first flavours I bought when I started mixing and I've never used either above 3%.

I just order FA Fresh and Catalan cream both in my last order along with concord grape ( logout HIC's Purple Cow) and cola ( because my wife want to try the cherry cola recipe). I'm looking for other suggestions to go with cola as well. Wondering if some Vienna Creams would go good in that mix.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

What do you think would be good to mix with FA cola and cherry to make a cream soda vape?

Where I work we have these AMAZING banana foster cheesecake bites.they have this sort of, but not quite graham cracker shell and would be amazing as a Vape. Maybe a good thing to experiment to try and replicate.

Most of the way down the page. http://www.hicsmixes.com/fruity.html It's actually red soda, so depends on what you get from cream soda.
Oh...I have the red cream soda recipe, I'll have to look at it again for cream soda.

Well have bananas foster French toast....that would be a killer vape too!

Funky taste development has me stumped. I can vape a juice for a week or two or longer and it's great, then it starts to develop what I describe as an unpleasant funky taste. So I take the tank apart, burn the coil clean, add a new wick and back to enjoyable again.

So why does that happen? Is it purely related to the flavors in the juice? For example, RocketPuppy's RY4 is my favorite and I vape a lot of it, and that never happens that I can recall. Started vaping Eclipse stand alone a few weeks ago and it went funky last night. Same with a Tribeca clone from Snowman, which I really like.

Is there a relationship with the coil and resistance, or did I answer my own question about the cause purely being a relationship with the flavors used in the juice? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Some flavorings are definitely coil gunkers and that will have a negative effect on your juice. I'm a lazy coiler/wicker, don't burn coils or install fresh wicks till my juice is nasty tasting, but fresh always tastes better.

I've got a pretty good stash of FA flavors, but added Nonnas Cake, Lime Cold Pressed, and Forest Fruit to the mix Monday. The lime blows me away how realistic it is. Did the smell test and tiny drop on the finger taste on Nonnas. Reminded me of a plain cake donut. If anyone has Casey's general stores around where they are and have had their plain cake donuts that's what it sort of reminded me of. (not the fluffy ones, the thick cake donuts)
I mixed it with some cinnamon roll (wish I would have used cinnamon danish swirl) some meringue, fuji apple and tiny amount of brown sugar. Going for an apple fritter vape. Still steeping. I did a quick taste earlier and wasn't bad at all but hasn't had any time to steep.

Wasn't sure what to expect on the Forest Fruit mix. It's a bit darker of a flavor then I thought it would be but I had no idea what to expect. Reminded me a lot of blackcurrant. (which I like). I'm trying it with some FA marshmallow and a small amount of FA coconut. No idea how it'll turn out. Anyone ever try it with a little lemon sicily or lime? Not sure how they would play together.

I love forest fruit with strawberry.
I tried one of Michelle's nonna sweet recpies and oh boy was is sweet. Like too much. But still good.
It was sweet I added 2mls of the mix to 5mls to my simple Fuji Apple recipie and it shines through the apple.

Hey guys, my first post in this forum !

I am finally getting ready to give diy a try, but i don't want to spend too much until i am certain that this is a hobby i can get good at and enjoy. Looking for suggestions for 10 or so flavors ( a few base flavors and a few fruits perhaps ) , some simple two or three flavor recipes, and the minimum amount of equipment needed to give this a go. I have unflavored base, a 10 ml and 3 ml syringe and some empty bottles. What else do i absolutely need ?

A little about my vaping history and preferences :

Started around 2011, dual user for a couple of years, vaping exclusively since mid 2013 sometime. Vaped extracted natural tobaccos for the first year or two and gradually added other flavors to my rotaion. Right now i vape tobaccos fifty percent of the time and other flavors fifty percent of the time. I am a low wattage mtl vapor, mostly tanks, although i do have a few rda's for testing. Most commercial liquids have too much flavoring for me, and i end up diluting them a bit. I like mildly sweet flavors and tart flavors, and i like the idea of a coffee vape but most of the ones i've tried, i don't like.

Ok, that's it for now. Any suggestions and recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)

I'd get some 1ml syringes for making small amount (so that you don't waste your flavorings). You will also need some vg and pg. Best advice is to browse through the recipe section of the forum and find recipes you'd like to make, then just buy the flavorings for those. It'll save you $$ in the long run! And only buy small bottles to start so you don't end up with a big bottle of something you can't stand!

Thanks Amanda ! I took a quick look at the recipe forum and most of the recipes had more flavors than i would like to use right now, but i will look at it in more detail later.

My base is already at the pg/vg/nic level i use, would i still need additional pg and vg ? Also, a beaker or graduated cylinder wouldn't be needed ?

I bought my nic, pg and vg from Wizard Labs. Is that a good place to buy FA flavors too. Bull City seems to get a lot of recommendations too.

Another FA flavour I picked up was Cardamom. Mixed it with FA Coconut (which Huck recommended and I said I wasn't going to get but couldn't help myself) and wow! It's delicious!!!!

Tried a 10ml of .5% Cardamom and 1% Coconut...might try adding White Peach or Lemon Sicily to that:bomb:
