Not new to vaping. In fact, I've been smoking a 1.8% mix (50pg/50vg) for the last TWO YEARS. Zero problems unless I got over excited or stressed and chain-vaped for a while. Then I'd end up with a foggy, dizzy feeling that would often require a nap before I felt better. Before vaping, I smoked about a pack a day for a while. A few years, at least. It was something I worked up to but I technically started smoking analogs when I was 18 (30 now, Vaping since I was 28-ish, smoked a pack a day probably since I was 25).

I quit analogs and went to vaping because I realized that just walking out to my car from my apartment door was enough to give me the spins and make me gasp for breath. So, I went with vaping and after a few months of feeling like crap, I started to really enjoy it. I can walk a mile now without any dizziness whatsoever and I generally feel (felt) a whole lot better just in my daily life.

Let me get to the point, I just wanted to explain that I've been vaping for a while and it's been a genuine improvement all around... But now...

My gallbladder had to be removed in April of this year (2016) after a three year battle with doctors who kept brushing off my abdominal pain as 'IBS'. I felt fine afterwards, no complications, no problems after the surgery. I actually felt pretty tiptop without pain killers within a few days of the surgery. The doctors were impressed, I was encouraged to go back to my usual routine.

I vaped throughout the recovery process, no problems. No weird feelings. No dizziness or light-headed problems. No weird symptoms or anything... Until last month. July 2nd, I was lying in bed after a long day, drifting off to sleep, and I felt what could only be described as a 'weird fluttering' in my chest. Scared the begeezus out of me. It felt like my sternum was vibrating or buzzing. It wasn't necessarily intense enough to be felt if I pressed a hand to my chest, but I could feel it -inside- to a point that it genuinely scared me.

This feeling would go away and return at odd times. Sometimes it would intensify until my entire torso felt like it was fluttery. Once I actually woke up and my -lips- felt like they were buzzing while my torso, arms, down to my fingertips felt like they were vibrating. During this time, I picked up a blood oxymeter, kept track of my blood sugar levels (I'm pre-diabetic), and monitored my blood pressure.. EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. It was ALL within 'normal' ranges for me throughout this hellish period.

So, I started to narrow things down a bit. I'd been taking a thyroid pill because of a slightly under-performing thyroid.. I got permission from my doctor to stop taking that as long as I kept in contact with him. I did that at the same time that I lowered my nic level from 1.8% to 0.6% (50/50) at the suggestion of a friend of mine. Things improved almost immediately. Within a couple days the buzzy/fluttery feeling that had tortured me throughout July 2016 finally seemed to go away altogether....

Last week, I realized that two of the 0.6% bottles of vape fluid I'd picked up were actually 1.2% (I need to pay more attention to the labels when I buy this stuff, I know)... But I figured the buzzy was probably related to my thyroid medication so I filled my tank and went at it. After a few days I began to have little fluttery fits in my chest. Still no dangerously elevated heartrate (a point or two due to anxiety but that's it). My blood sugar's still perfectly normal (for me)... and my blood oxygen level is well within healthy range.

I brushed it off as maybe lingering effects from the thyroid pill that I'd stopped a couple weeks beforehand... But the more I vaped the 1.2% the worse and more persistent the fluttering became. Until I finally broke down and went back to my vape fluid store to get some proper 0.6% again. I've been back on that for a couple days now and the fluttering /still/ comes back if I vape too much (I work at the computer and tend to use a vape like a comma some days. This was NEVER a problem before). It's lessened a bit since the 0.6% but it still comes and goes.

I realize this has been a bit of a novel and I apologize for that. I guess, in the end, I'm just trying to figure out if anyone else felt this weird buzzy/fluttery sensation in their chest -without- having other health red lights like dangerously elevated heart rate. I mean, it -feels- like tachycardia when it gets going really bad but it doesn't register on anything as an elevated heartrate. So... anyone? Or am I just some kind of alien?

(Also, yes I've spoken to a doctor about this. It was brushed off as GERD/Acid Reflux because of the Gallbladder removal... But Tums, Pepto, even GasX doesn't touch it, doesn't help at all. Sleeping propped up in bed only seemed to make the times when I woke up feeling fluttery/buzzy so much worse. When I started sleeping flat with one pillow again it seemed to HELP. It also doesn't show up after eating anything that's known to give you acid problems... I learned that by -not vaping after meals- for a while) So, I'm turning here to see if anyone has any similar experiences, because my doctor is being useless again.

Get a 2nd opinion, to rule anything. out. And, maybe, depending on your gear, you could need an even lower nic level. Some people are just more sensitive to nic

It actually sounds a bit like nic overdose to me -- it was a mistake to change two things at once, because then when it improved, you didn't really know which of the two things was responsible for the improvement.

Just a generalization. You may want to get your thyroid level checked and discuss with your doctor. Get well.

Yeah this is why I asked to be taken off my thyroid meds. I was on the lowest possible dose and when I started taking them again after my surgery (It was suggested I not take them for a while for whatever reason) this stuff started shortly afterwards. But I've been off them for about two and a half weeks now and the problem's come back after I started vaping the 1.2% again. So I honestly believe the medication was possibly exacerbating the problem but obviously it's not the sole source of the issue.

The Lowest my current supplier has is 0.6% and 0% nic. I really don't want to go all the way to zero.. I'll hunt around for somewhere that offers a lower nic level. It might help. I doubt it could hurt at this point.

I don't really understand how this can be helpful as it's essentially stating what I already said (obviously I know it wasn't a great idea to stop two things at once but since they can BOTH cause the problem I've been dealing with I thought it might be best due to panic and general upset at the time)... but thank you for your reply anyway.

Has anyone actually encountered a similar sensation at all? Why would I suddenly be sensitive to nicotine? I've vaped at 1.8% for 2 -years- without a problem and now suddenly if I go over 0.6% (sometimes -at- 0.6%) I get this weird fluttery feeling that freaks me out. Is it normal to suddenly become more sensitive to higher percentages of nicotine after a surgery? If I go to a doctor with these questions they'll just tell me to quit smoking and honestly, nicotine helps me even out and relax (I have severe anxiety problems) without all the nasty side effects of prescription medication. So I'd -really- like to keep using it if at all possible.

I can't explain why you could be suddenly sensitive, but, sometimes as we age, weird things happen. I haven't always had allergies to some things, that I know I'm allergic to now. Not saying it's an allergy you're experiencing, but we do change.

It seems very common actually; the longer we're off cigarettes, the more sensitive to nicotine we become. Not *everyone*, but a pretty fair majority, it seems -- and 18mg is quite a high dose of nicotine. It's just more contradiction to the idea that nicotine is an "addictive drug;" if it is, it's the only addictive drug I've ever heard of that causes *decreasing* tolerance, rather than increasing. I think it's because in the absence of all the additives in cigarette tobacco that are put there purposely to allow humans to tolerate the toxic effect of breathing smoke, our bodies begin to realize that nicotine is in fact toxic.

Quit vaping for awhile, to see if its the problem. If you need nic, pop in a snus.

Sounds like the Nicotine to me as well. Maybe you need to take it down another step. :)

It would definitely seem that your "flutters" are related to you higher nicotine juice usage, at least anecdotally. An important bit of information that is missing, however, is: how much juice are you actually using? 18 or 12mg, using 3ml/day is less than 6mg using 10ml day. For me, either of these would be too high. I am using 3mg at 10-12ml per day and thinking about stepping down to 1-2mg.

Overall, it also sounds to me you're having a nicotine overdose.

You could easily mix a 3 mg/ml (0.3%) Juice by mixing a 0.6% and a 0% at equal parts.

You could just buy one of the 6 mg, and one of the 0 mg, mix them together and make it 3 mg. Just a thought. Or getting into DIY, you could make it anywhere in between if you want to go that route. I would try the first of the 2 options as it would be easier. Hope this helps. Sry for double post of the same answer. See above... @Neunerball wonky internet or it could be the fact that I just type really slow........
