General building questions

Alright so im new to rebuilding my own rda and was wondering what are the basic rules of thumb and principals behind coils, like what causes difference in ohm's in relation to how the coils are done, or depending on what i want in a build what would the difference in gauge of wire effect?
And fyi im running a snow wolf 200w with a motofo Atty cubed.im also wondering how to to a good build in a kanger sub tank mini. thanks!

Resistance (measured in ohms) is dependent AWG and length of chosen wire. Awg is the standard for representing the diameter or the wire. The most basic builds use between 24awg to 32 awg. 24 is larger than 32. Awg is inversely proportionate to wire size. Google steam engine coil calculator and play around.

Study up on battery safety and ohms law

Learn about heat flux, heat capacity, and balancing those with max possible surface area. Get creative and experiment.

I'm new to building, as well, so i too would like more information. I'm especially interested in the science behind it. Air flow and wicking are glossed over most of the time, but very important to the quality of vape.

hey thanks for the reply! but yeah ive done some research on ohm's and and have a general vapers understanding of it i just want to know how can i build a coil (or pair of coils) and know that if i do it right it will be a low sub ohm build, like what is the principle behind the number of wraps and AWG of the coil and the ohms. definitely going to start simple but hope to understand it all!

The wraps are relative to the length of wire and diameter of what you are wrapping around. Only the total length of wire will determine resistance.

Using 2 identical coils will cut your resistance in half, since they are running parallel. If you want .5 ohm resistance, you need two 1 ohm coils

Determine the ohms/in and cut the needed amount. Wrap as many times as needed taking into consideration wicking, airflow and deck size. I found anything between 5;and 8 wraps is most efficient.

steam engine has all kinds of charts that will give you that info...personally I never bothered with that stuf....Kanthal is cheap, and any new builder needs tons of practice to learn how to build well, so just grabbing some wire and just experimenting is great, just get a good ohmmeter and check out your coils resistance before firing it up...peoples taste vary so widely that you won't really know what a build will do for you until you vape it yourself.

sweet thanks! between yalls answers and some of my own research im getting a pretty good idea of how it all works, now i just have to play around with it myself !
