How long does a new "Aspire Nautilus bvc 5ml tank" last- before burning up all your coils?

Lately, all of my 1.6 coils are only lasting one day (or even less), before burning up.. and I have had my Aspire Nautilus bvc 5ml tank- that was brand new- for several months+.. and this problem just started, and is happening with different coils from different vendors that are authentic coils.

I had bought an extra tank and I'm going to try it tonight.. but I was just wondering if that could be the problem?

How long do these tanks last normally?

Do you think that could be the problem with it burning up my coils so quickly- so suddenly?
EDIT- I do vape a whole lot, and it has probably been longer than 6 months, maybe closer to a year that I have been using this tank. FYI.

Thank you!

Back in the old day, I never had any luck with those coils either....basic junk. I assume they haven't improved them over the years. Actually, their probably still selling the coils they made 5 years ago.

I switched to this tank because a lot of people recommended it over the t3s that I had, where I was having to replace a coil every day, and for quite a long time on the Nautilus aspire 5ml bvc tank, I was getting at least 3 days out of each coil.. with as much as I smoked- and was happy with that.

Suddenly though, I'm having to replace coils every day. I got a brand new tank tonight.. in case that maybe the tanks don't last forever, even though the coils are replaceable because I know my T3 is thanks would eventually start leaking and having different problems.. even though these are much nicer..but was wanting to see if anybody else thought that could be the problem..?

Typically with most coils the lifespan can be fairly juice dependent. The higher the nic, sugar content and darkness of juice, the faster the coils get burnt up.

Also, if you’re not cleaning the tank once a week or so, you can also be inadvertently killing the coil prematurely.

I didn’t use factory coil tanks long though. I did the math early on and figured If I was only getting a few days on a coil, than I may as well get a decent rta and start building micro coils.

Actually, I never did clean my old tank before- I always ran the same juice through it, though I did recently add 1% more flavor.. which did make the juice a little bit darker- but no nicotine in the juice.

I don't know how to clean a tank.. actually..

If anyone has any links on how to clean all of the parts, I would love to know.

I've heard some people talk about soaking things in alcohol like rubbing alcohol, or vodka, what do I need to wash it in and what do I use to wash it?

Have you increased the wattage they're being used at?
Changed the PG/VG of your juice?

No, the only thing that changed at all.. is I increased my flavor concentrate by 1% or less.

It never has been cleaned though.. so when I feel better I will do that. Right now I am using a new tank I had bought as a backup, and I am having to use it at 9.5 Watts instead of 9 Watts.. which is what I always used before, to get the same flavor- but I do remember having to use 9.5 in the beginning when the 1st tank was new.. so it may be something to do with buildup in the tank??

I went to the doctor yesterday and have an upper respiratory infection and am on antibiotics so when I feel better I will clean my old tank and see if that helps.

you need a new set up.
i get weeks from my coils.

I have an Innokin MVP 4, with a 5ml Aspire Nautilus bvc tank, usually Vape at 9 Watts, with this brand new tank of the same kind, vaping at 9.5, but I do vape a whole lot most of the time, because I am disabled and at home most of the time and find it soothing.

Can I just take the tank apart, remove the coil, run tap water through it and then soak it in addition of alcohol to clean it without scrubbing? Thank you

That will work far better than nothing.
Let it air dry disassembled for about 24 hours to make sure all the alcohol evaporates from the orings and such.

On the 1 ml of flavoring added, 1 ml added to what volume of juice?

I clean my tanks by fully disassembling them, running under hot water, soak in hot water for a few hours, then lay on paper towel to dry for 24 hours.
If I feel the coil has life left... I will rinse it under hot water for several minutes then set on paper towel to dry for 24-48 hours. I never recommend rubbing alcohol or soap. If you want a deeper clean I would soak it in vinegar or vodka then repeat the hot water rinse.

I have been vaping since 2010. I always used a nautilus tank since the induction of the product. I now have nautilus 2 tanks but never had problems with nautilus 5ml tanks. I ended up dropping them and breaking the glass. One thing I do note on the tank. It doesn't care for a high vg %. I never used more than 50% vg. I make my own eliquid. However, when I did use purchased e liquid the sweeteners/additives they used gunk-ed up the coils. I would be lucky to get 2 days out of the coils.

Aspire is coming out with a new 0.7ohms mesh coil. It may be the best coil yet. I am hoping it is. I love the 0.7 ohm coils right now (kanthal).

P.S. I have tried other mtl tanks and highly disappointed. I always go back to the Nautilus.

vinegar is especially good at eliminating odors,

Coil life is dependent on proper priming and break in with starting low on wattage and working your way up to how much you vape or chain vape and the type of liquid being vaped. There is no one answer to how long a coil lasts it all depends on usage. A Drag Car Motor is good for a few runs where a stock motor goes 200K miles. How do you run yours? Good Luck

Sorry, it was about 1 ml of flavor, added to about 60 mL of juice. Yes I've heard a lot of people use alcohol 2seok there parts of their tanks in. I thought that may be best..?

I clean tanks sometimes with isopropyl alcohol.
Many frown on this as it is poison to drink.
However given a good rinse in warm water after the alcohol and 24 hour air dry before assembling tank maybe a few parts per billion of the iso will remain.
Only way I have found to clean some really strong flavorings from tanks and even works on plastic bottles as well. if used on plastic allow 2 days to dry as the plastic actually absorbs the iso. Why flavoring odors are hard to get rid of in plastic.

Rinse well in warm water.
shake all the water off.
soak in isopropyl for a few hours.
remove from alcohol and rinse well in warm water and allow to air dry for 24 hours before reassembly.
I probably get more toxins in the air that I breathe than from my tanks cleaned this way.

Most of the time I just use warm tap water to rinse my tanks well and dry off with paper towel then let finish air dry overnight. Reassemble and use.
Factory coils now are another matter.
No matter the cleaning method used results are usually pretty poor.

Thank you! I've never done more with the t3s tanks I used to use.. other than run water through them and let them air-dry, because I was having to replace them every 2 or 3 months anyway.. because they are just $5 piece of crap tanks.

These are the directions that I needed, step by step, so thank you very much!

I have been home sick on antibiotics, and that happened to be the time that my tank quit working/coils kept burning up.. so thank goodness the one I ordered as a backup just happened to arrive.. and my coils are lasting longer with this new tank- so I do believe the old tank either had some kind of malfunction all of the sudden, or maybe just really needs to be cleaned well. Thank you very much!

Yes nothing at all has changed, I've been vaping the same flavor at almost the same percentage for several years now, and nothing was wrong until just the other day when my coils were suddenly burning out like crazy every day, and I've given it a couple - 3 days on this new tank and have not had to replace a coil yet so I think the old tank just needs to be cleaned. I had never cleaned it because I didn't really know how because it takes I had before that we're such pieces of crap I ended up replacing them all of the time, they were t3s tanks. $5 each

Yes I have started to DIY my own juice, using a flavor OMG for Mom and Pop vapor shop, and 50/50 VG PG with no nicotine, about 28% flavor because I do like it strong, but nothing has changed at all until all of the sudden he's coils started burning up so quickly in my first tank, so I think it just needs to be cleaned. I will let you know how it went after I feel a little better and clean that 1st 1.

I also cleaned my T3S tanks the same way with ISO back when I used them.
Not a bad cheap tank for their time.
Prone as heck to leak all over ya if you got them hot in a shirt pocket though...

CAN ANYONE ANSWER THIS???
Okay, so I just emptied the juice out of my tank and threw away that coil, and I tried to take the tank apart.. and I was able to take the mouthpiece off- but the piece that extends inside the tank (that the other end of the coil fits into), doesn't pull out of the hole where the mouthpiece is.. so I did unscrew it.. so that it was loosened and I could move it around and rinse it, and I dropped all of those pieces in a beaker of isopropyl alcohol 91%.

But- I am wondering about the very bottom piece, do I need to do the same with it? Does it need to be rinsed with water and dropped in alcohol for a while to soak before rinsed just like everything else?
*It has the rubber around the bottom, that grips around the edges when you put it together, after refilling, so I was not sure.. and didn't want to dry out the rubber..?
Thank you!

The problem with my T3s tanks, was every time I turned them upside down to refill them, that is when they leaked- so I had to plug it with one finger, while it was upside down, and hold it with my other fingers on my left hand.. while refilling it with my right hand- it was a pain in the butt..& the coils got to where they were only lasting one day each, when I was chain vaping, so I would order more tanks- and 1/2 of them came defective and would not work right off the bat- unless I took them all apart, and just used the pieces that would work together, after testing different combinations.

That's when I decided to get the tank I have now.. plus my extra tank.. of the Aspire Nautilus 5ml bvc.

If you decide to get into coil building and rewicking the Subtank mIni using the included RBA deck would be a good option for ya.
Easy to coil and wick and you save a bunch on money on factory coils.
I have one of those I have used daily for 3.5 years.
And replaced nothing except for the crappy metal drip tip :)

I agree! The tank is easy for MTL. It is the only RBA tank I have courtesy of you. It's my second favorite tank now.

@The Cromwell

I have had a couple of people try to show me how to build coils for different styles of tanks, I think there were sub-ohm, but I'm not into sub ohm, and it seemed to me to be a very tedious & exacting job, that I'd rather just buy the coils.. since I am saving so much money making my own juice.

I'm saving at least $100 a month, if not more by making my own juice. Thank you all for encouraging me to DIY juice!

I technically sub ohm in the Subtank mini.
~.6 ohm 4 wraps of single wire at about 14-16 watts.

That tank is a bit more open draw than the Nautilus but can be adjusted tighter too.
MTL is Mouth To Lung vs Direct Lung type of vaping.
MTL is more like how most people smoked cigs.

for the cost of 5-6 factory coils you can get 6 months worth of wire and cotton.

That's all Greek to me, LOL. I've never known how to build a coil or understood any of it or even seen it up close more than once a couple years ago.

Right now I am really stocked up on coils.. because I was thinking that I didn't know what vender I could trust as far as coils.. but I am starting to think it was the tank since this new tank has given me already twice as long usage.. even though it's only two and a half days of not having to change the coil ..and with my first tank that had never been cleaned, I was changing a coil at least once a day right there at the end.

So I am stocked up on coils right now, but if I find a coil Builder and try a couple of them and like them.. when I run out of stock, or if there is a coil Builder who can build coils for these, then I would surely try some if the price is good.

I'm paying about $8 - $10 a box for a 5 pack of the 1.6 right now.. for the Aspire Nautilus bvc, 1.6.

Most of the time hot running tap water and a toothbrush is all I use to clean tanks, maybe just touch the toothbrush to the lid of dish soap for a good scrubbing, clean all parts, dry with a hair dryer or sit on paper towels. Put a drop or two of juice on dry o rings before screwing back together.

If I have more than 5 or so tanks to clean at once a drop of dawn into the ultrasonic cleaner, rinse and let dry.

Thanks on the clarification for MTL.

I only have this one tank, but I am wondering, because when I took the Nautilus Aspire 5ml bvc tank apart, I tried to pull the piece that the coil screws into, out of the top of the tank, after taking off the mouthpiece- and it would not fit through.
So.. I just let it soak like that, with those pieces together.

Would that have been the reason it was burning all my coils up?

While I have it apart drying.. except for those pieces- should I try again to take those pieces apart, (or do they even come apart) & try to clean those 2 again?

I'm wondering if I should try to take them apart again and just go through the motions again with those two pieces- (1 where the coil screws into that piece that is attached to the piece that sticks up through the hole at the top)?

EDIT- I have just attached pictures of the metal piece, that I am unsure if it comes apart or not.
I tried to hold the metal piece inside the tank against the side of the glass.. and unscrew from the top (I tried unscrewing from both directions), but it didn't unscrew, at least not easily- and I did not want to break the glass pressing the metal piece too hard against it, trying to get some grip on it to see if it would turn loose.
I'm not sure if it is even supposed to.
Does this picture help? If anyone could advise that would be great, thank you!

Anytime you have an issue with a tank YouTube should be your first stop. You can get a visual of the item in question. Review or breakdown should show you. Building coils to fit back in the casing for those is a Uber pain in the ass so I doubt you'll find someone to do that. They make mtl rebuildable that would be much easier to work with.

Okay, here is a YouTube video- that got just as many thumbs Downs as it got thumbs ups, but apparently the piece I was worried about does not come apart- which is the long piece.. that is partially inside the tank and partially outside of the tank.

His was able to be pulled all the way through the tank and out, but I have a rubber rim gasket around the top of my tank.. which keeps me from being able to pull the entire center piece out.. but apparently that does not matter.

(This is not how I would clean it, because I think alcohol probably does work better, and I did see that after I used water, that in my Beaker of alcohol with the parts, was some coloring from the juice- so that did seem to work good. I am just wishing I had closed the air hole on the bottom piece and then blew it out afterwards.. like in the video.)
Here's the link to the video if anyone needs it.

Thank you, I didn't think of YouTube. I tried that and found a video, apparently is a piece I was worried about does not come apart. I'm glad I did not try to pull it too hard LOL. I'd be so mad if I broke it.

If I were going through coils as fast as that, I would suspect that I am not priming them properly, or that I am vaping too much of the juice out of the tank before refilling.

I used Nautilus Mini tanks for years, along with Kabuki clones that also use Nauti coils, and I could get weeks out of those coils. Once in a while I would run across a dud right out of the box, but basically they lasted me a really long time.

I would vape a 1.6 ohm coil at 12.5 to 14 watts. Your wattage level is obviously not too high unless something is wrong with your mod and it's actually putting out a lot more than 9 or 9.5 watts.

Most of the liquid I used was either 70/30 or 50/50 (pg/vg).

I was also terrible about cleaning tanks, and did it only rarely, but it is true that the juice I was vaping was probably not as heavily flavored as what you're using.

All it takes is one dry hit and the coil is ruined.

I vape 9 Watts, 1.6 bvc authentic coils..BUT..just cleaned my tank for the first time. I had bought a backup from Vape Shop, but for some reason, every time I refilled my tank and put it back together and screwed it on my vaporizer different ways, the air hole that I need ends up facing a different direction, downhill, flooding the tank- whereas my original starter kit from Rock Bottom vapor, the air-hole I ALWAYS use-is in a different place on the tank no matter how many times I put it on or off. I don't understand why they are different, so ended up having to write Vape Shop to return their's, and order another startestarter kit- since Rock Bottom vapor doesn't carry a tank only- in hopes of another tank from them will be just like the 1st.

I found what ended up being inauthentic Aspire Nautilus bvc tanks @ 1/2 price = $10, on eBay. .but didn't want to take the risk.

Are their any other coils for the bvc aspire Nautilus bvc tank that people would recommend that aren't as expensive?

My coils were burning up daily bc my tank needed to be cleaned..so I figured that out. But being at home so much I vape a LOT, & have heard of other people replacing their coils every 3 days normally like me-even with a freshly cleaned tank.

Are there any off-brand coils that last as long & are as good as the real Aspire Nautilus bvc coils?
Thanks! Dez

You can use dead coils again after cleaning them? I have heard you can run them under water and reuse them..but it didn't work. Has this actually worked for you? How do you clean them?
