the D2 is smaller the VTC...
I only use it driving and down at the casino...I have 4 other mods I vape at home...all with TC..
The D2's compact size and packing 75w makes it work for me..just sayin

I was actually thinking of getting a D2 until I started reading what everyone had to say. I think I will stick with my Evic VTC Mini. I do love it. Now, that said, I don't care for the tank. I tossed my Steam Crave RDTA on there and it's just a beautiful vape. Regular kanthal that is. I still have not gotten the hang of TC and I am in no rush to do so.

My kit didn't even come with the tank. I paid $34 with shipping. Happy as heck with my purchase.

Well, I will still get some use out of the tank part when I go camping as I don't see it breaking too easy even if I drop the thing. I bought some of the rebuildable CLR heads and I took the pins out of the Ti and Ni coils and put them in the CLR heads, as they are a bit different and give better air flow. It's not bad but not something I would use on a daily basis. That's a great price you got! Congrats

Not true. The D2 is about 1/4" shorter but it is also just a liiittle bit wider than the VTC too. Put 'em both on a table, you'll see.
They're basically the same size.

For disclosure, I haven't tried Ti coils yet on the VTC. My above opinion is absent that.
Mine hasn't jumped outta TC mode or any of that though.

So far, the VTC Mini has been absolutely flawless.
This is twice as amazing since the original VTC (the 5000mah) model had more bugs than the Orkin guy.
I have seriously tried to find a flaw, any flaw in the lil' VTC... and I can't. Props to Joytech for paying attention and ,supporting the product.

Has anybody done the new firmware upgrade yet?

I upgraded yesterday. Simple and quick process.

The update is no biggie. It just gives you a couple more live readings which equates to numbers rolling on the screen that disappear as soon as you take your finger off the fire button, so you can't even see them anyway unless your firing the mod without hitting it.

It sure beats the bag out of the D2 screen though. That's just a miniaturized DNA20 screen that I can't read under any circumstances.

Speaking of screens, I do like the VTC stealth mode as well. If you tap the fire button, you get all the information needed on the screen. If you hold the fire button while hitting it, the screen stays off and saves the batteries.

Although the D2 might be a touch wider
It's also shorter..this I like alot...with the Crown its perfect size makes for easy carry in my shirt pocket...

Weight is a big factor in shirt pocket portability. The VTC is lighter than the D2.

That may be, but the weight of the D2 is not a problem for me..I mean it stays put in my shirt pocket, always at the ready...very convient to take a quick couple of hits that helps me concentrate on winning some $$ at the blackjack table or playing slots...its great!

You need the first to sustain the second.

You mention "the casino" often, which one(s)? We should compare player's club collections. I drove around the US about 8 years ago and then a winter in Vegas a couple after that, I think I'm up to 45 or 50. :D
I live 2 mi down the road from the Sycaun Casino, located in east San Diego county...been going down there for years... Swipe your players card on Wednesday and Friday for free play downloads ...I'm a vet so I get platinum benefits like a gas card and free car washes and enjoy elite parking...Free drinks (soda, tea, etc)
and a gourmet buffet with prime rib, steaks and seafood..plus I do win often..
Got a grill for cheeseburgers, etc and sandwiches like ham and cheese..all at a discount with my players card..and all the iced tea I can drink..lol

D2 24mm, Smok TFV4
VTC 22mm, most everything

D2 looks/feels OK with 22mm tanks, 24mm fits perfect with the angle on the front. VTC does not look/feel right with a 24mm tank.

So what is a popular 24mm tank? If you're referring to the smok tfv4, I believe you'd want more wattage than the 60 or 75 from these mini mods. Am I safe to assume that?

Another point for discussion here is the power available. The D2 has 75 watts and the VTC has 60 watts available in power mode. However, the VTC has 60 watts available in TC, and the D2 only has 50.

I think the VTC update fixes the problem with it not reading new attys. At least when I took off the eGo One and put on the SubTank for the picture it read the SubTank right off, .04Ω difference. I just unlocked and locked it (to make sure, but that may not be needed). If this holds true it bumps VTC up a little more. Much more newb friendly this way.

Only weirdos use 24mm tanks. :)

*waves* :)

Why would I want more watts? It's .4Ω Ti just like all my other TC mods.
I may not win a contest but I can get some big clouds and a lot of flavor doing lung hits, which I can't do sub-ohming or any other form of non-TC.

D2 only has 50

I'm not sure if J=W. I think that's just a convenient way to think of it because nobody understands what a joule is :)
With what I can see on the screen I've never seen VTC go over 20w and Ti. My P4Us are usually set at 30J, although right now I'm learning to wick the TFV4 and I have it feeding too much so I'm trying it at 50J and a higher temperature.

Either way I find if you get the right setting it ramps up and levels off. Too low it never gets to temperature. Too high it rattlesnakes. For TC I don't think you need as much power as they have available unless you like really hot temperatures.

Putting the eGo One back on it didn't read it, but was more willing to (backed the atty off and screwed it back tight). I unlocked it, tried to fire and it asked if it was a new coil. Maybe not as fixed as I thought but so far it's better. Change 1 was great. Change 2 was tolerable.
Time will tell if I have another time where I say to hell with it and use a different mod.

Just got my VTC mini and damn its nice. Cant compare usage to D2 but have played enough with D2 as I used to think i was getting one that I can say the VCT is just better made, as far as how they feel in the hand...that can be subjective. Usage wise I can tell u that i compare it to ly ipv4 and in power mode-it hits harder at 40w (vct) than my ipv4 does at 40 watts, and in temp mode its way better than my ipv4. Really happy with it thus far.

I don't have a D2, but I do have a 3 Li. And relatively speaking, IPV devices are generally "dumber" than the eVic VTC Mini. Not to say I don't love my 3 Li, but it's just not quite as user friendly as the eVic, and I would imagine the D2 is similar in that regard.

Advantages of the eVic:
Bigger, brighter display
Pass through charging
Puff counter and seconds counter
Better looking, more modern design (personal opinion)
Mechanical mode

Disadvantage:
60W to the D2's 75W.

That's what I see in my eVic, which is my on-the-go vape.

The "C" stands for "compact". It's the VTC, period.

I thought it was Variable Temperature with Changeable Battery.
I saw the edit but I had that ready to post so I'm just going to rub it in :)

If I had a 2 foot long drip tip to get it out where I can focus in the bifocal that flipped screen would be great :)

I don't hate the D2 by any means, but I think the VTC does win by a nose. Especially once I get a camo wrap for it and the tank (probably get a Delta II for it, I like the RBA concept better than eGo One's PT style "rebuildable"). Completely camo, stealth mode, apple flavor, perfect for bowhunting (which I won't be doing this year, medical crap is taking over my bow season, and I just got the handicapped crossbow permit because of other medical crap FML).

WORKS PERFECT

ive had the d2 since it cam eout. I love it. IF i were to make it better I would
-possibly change that battery clip
-slow down the scroll
-make ni and ti modes go to 75J dual coil builds like the maganus ni coils can handle more than 50J
-give it SS TC

other than those things I couldn't be happier

no device is perfect. I bet if I bought an evic vtc i could find things to complain about.

just looking at it - i prefer the shape of the D2 over the evic vtc

Every mod is gonna have an issue for some people

Depending on your needs the D2 is awesome it could be better, but its solid. I didnt expect it to survive its swim, and was planning to do some mod shopping this weekend. But now I dont have to.

It has survived probably 50 or more drops on hardwood, concrete and asphalt with just some scratches in the paint.

i love the pass through barrel charging port. I rarely use it, but it is much more solid feeling to me then a micro usb. Everything I have with micro USB ports have the same issue, the micro USB port craps out form use after a while. IM not sure if the same will be true for a barrel connection- it probably will, but from the get go the barrel connection feels better to me then a micro usb

I am also sure the evic VTC is a great device as well. joytech knows their shit and puts out one great device after another

There are a metric crap ton of folks having issues now when building TC below 0.2 on the VTC.

Some times my eGo One .4ΩTi is lacking. Other times it rocks. I blame the ProTank style connections. They weren't accurate in ProTanks, they're certainly not a good idea when dealing with TC differences. I tried a TC build in a ProTank it was so bad I didn't bother trying to figure out why.
I've all but written off the idea of bothering with the rebuildable eGo One coil, but Jwraps doesn't have a tank wrap for Delta II yet so I may and just use eGo One for hunting.

Recently took my D2 offshore tuna/yellowtail fishing.. the silicon sleeve was great protecting my mod

from the salt water environment and my fishy hands. Lasted all day on one battery charge taking a hit now and again between stops. A great little mod!

I would think any sub ohming would be a little noisy for out in the field.
But I've never hunted, so...

Also the clouds :)

Good thing about TC is you can turn it down to a low rumble.

The D2 was a good choice ...it lasted the whole trip on one charge, but I did have to refill the Maganus tank a couple times..Next trip I will take the D2 topped with the Crown, using the .5 ss coil..should be a great trip..best fishing off San Diego in 40yrs, thanks to a strong El Nino...

Watching this devolve into a conversation about fishing and what "VTC" stands for is... hilarious :).

Use the nickel. I too do not like the titanium coils for the eGo One... flavor's much better with the Ni200.

I'm not sure how that applies to the inherently poor connection of squishing wires against steel with a grommet.
I love Ti. I don't even mind the eGo One when it's anemic. I don't mind that sometimes it rocks and sometimes it's anemic. I just question whether that type of connection is suitable for TC if .02Ω makes a huge difference in lock in that would be easy to come up with when .5Ω off was easy to have in a ProTank.

So far I'm not a huge fan of vertical coils. Using it in eGo One, tried it in TFV4. Definitely want rebuildables.

I was pricing a Delta II set up, at my favorite advocacy supporting in state e-tailer. $55 for a tank and RBA? I think I'm going to have to find somewhere cheaper.
Joytech figured out their pricing sucks and fixed that with VTC, but they obviously still have a problem thinking westerners are made of money.

Yuck... I love supporting my brick and mortar shops, but sometimes I look at the prices and can't help but laugh. It's a 60% markup in some cases. Got my Triton for $30 (and that's a good price for the internet, not spectacular), and the local vape shop wants 50... sigh...

LOL! I guess you are not a fan of Ti? ;) I haven't tried Ti yet, so what don't you like about it?

If you are serious about parting with them, PM me,

Weeelll, I wasn't THAT serious. I'll use 'em for my iStick TC 40... but when it's time for new ones, i'll go with nickel.

I think it's just personal perception. The Ti doesn't give me as much flavor as the Ni. But that's my taste buds and my lungs... others may not feel the same.

I love my D2 but I'm considering picking up the VTC mini too. Only reason I haven't yet is because I like the cyan color best and I don't know what tank to use with it because I have no intention of using the one that comes with it. I'll probably buy it without the tank if I can. I have no desire to own yet another black mod either, have too many as it is. Maybe I'll settle for the white one and/or buy a skin. Recs on a tank that would look good on the cyan? I'm currently thinking black tank with matching cyan drip tip but feel free to surprise me with a different option.

Pic is of my D2 without the silicone sleeve and my Yetikles (black Herakles) tank with .2 ohm NI200 head. Slick looking overall and great flavor set at 420°F at 45 joules. Juice hog though and that's Table Dancer in there. Might have to stick to cheaper juice for this setup. The Vape Mall and it's price for 500mls seems about right for this one, lol. They do a few decent flavors. ;D

I have to bake up some crow and edit this at the end...

Yeah, unless you need that 15w in power mode, I think the VTC wins.

Personal aside... unless someone can show me the 5000mAh eVic VTC... could we stop saying "mini"

The "C" stands for "compact". It's the VTC, period.

/minirant :)

Ok...edit...

The original VT stands for Variable Temp... duh, no revelation there.
But... Joyetech have gone sideways and made VTC stand for, wait for it...

Variable Temperature with Changeable battery. No. Just, fuck me... no.

Yes it's right there on the front of the box, and I don't care. Stop saying "mini".

Like anyone will care. :p

Crow... yum. :D
Not to rain on your parade, you can call it what you want, but just for clarity sake, it is listed as the eVic-VTC mini on the Joyetech website... I can't say for certain, but I suspect it was originally designed as a "mini" version of the eVic-VT, and named accordingly by the manufacturer. Either way, I suspect no one will misunderstand if it is referred to as the eVic-VTC or the eVic-VTC mini.

Hey, I just noticed my Joyetech eVic 4 VTC Mini Changeable Battery Temperature Control mod "isn't locking in" after the update, it's showing the ohms fluctuate when I fire.
I'm pretty sure it just showed the lock in before. I guess they thought that was a pretty cool thing on the D2?

You can still lock it but yes after the update it shows you the ohm's live.

I called it that in quotes because of all the people saying their D2 isn't working right because it shows the coil doing exactly what it does to make TC work. :)

efuntop has 'em for like 30 bucks outta China. Just picked up my second one.
Thanks! Now I just need to really decide on which color to get. Cyan is still my favorite of the colors but white would probably match up with more tanks/rda's. Hmm... Decisions are hard sometimes, lol.

Think you will love the vtc mini. Maybe a white tank would look good.

Yeah, I'm trying to convince myself to get the white VTC mini instead of the cyan but it's hard to talk myself out of one of my favorite colors. I have a serious weakness for almost all shades of blue and yet, surprisingly, have no blue mods. This is a problem that needs correcting, lol.
