Nearly half of all medical schools have now joined the HHS Nutrition Education Plan launched by the Trump Administration.
Starting this fall, future doctors at 73 medical schools, with hopefully more joining before then, will be required to receive at least 40 hours of nutrition education or its equivalent.

I have been checking nutrient levels in patients for more than 25 years. What I’ve found is that, sadly, most people suffer from nutritional deficits.

Here are some of the nutrients you can take not only to live a longer and healthier life, but also to protect yourself from illness:

  • Vitamin C. This vitamin is considered an essential nutrient because we cannot produce it in our bodies, yet we can’t live without it. Vitamin C is found in a wide variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, and animal products. Still, most Americans don’t get enough. The body requires more vitamin C during illness or other times of stress. When stress levels rise markedly — such as during an acute infection — it is imperative to increase dosages of vitamin C, because the immune system can’t function optimally without sufficient amounts. As a general rule, I tell patients to take 3,000 mg to 5,000 mg per day of vitamin C as a maintenance dose.
  • Iodine. White blood cells can’t guard against infection without adequate iodine. No bacterium, virus, parasite, or fungus has ever been shown to be resistant to iodine. Like vitamin C, iodine is an essential nutrient, but more than 97% of our population is iodine deficient. Average doses of iodine I prescribe range from 25 mg to 50 mg per day. During an infection, I often have patients increase their dose to 100 mg per day. I have done this with COVID-19 patients.
  • Vitamin A. Most Americans do not get enough vitamin A, another essential nutrient. Vitamin A is crucial for the function of your heart, lungs, kidneys, and other organs. At the first sign of an infection (sore throat, cough, fever) I have patients take 100,000 IU of vitamin A for four days, using emulsified vitamin A in the form of palmitate, which is easier on the human liver than vitamin A that is derived from fish liver. Note: Beta-carotene is not the same as vitamin A, and does not have its antimicrobial effects.

Can cooking with the wrong kind of cooking oil give you cancer?

According to the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center… YES

Here are 3 reasons why cooking oils in your kitchen may be linked to cancer:

#1 - Toxic Fumes

New research from the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center found evidence linking lung cancer to exposure to cooking oil fumes. Even in women who have never smoked! The most toxic fumes came from cooking with safflower oil, vegetable oil, and corn oil. It’s best to avoid these oils altogether and to cook in a properly ventilated kitchen.

#2 - Chemical Baths

Yellow cooking oils go through a nasty process in which they are washed in Hexane. This chemical is known to damage nerves in your hands and feet. Then it’s rinsed with a chemical called lye, caustic soda, or NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide). Exposure to this is linked to cancer of the esophagus.

A 2025 paper published in the journal Molecular Cancer just proposed that chronic stress should be recognized as a *fourth carcinogen*,

On this week's episode of With the Wind, Dr. Paul is joined by Peter McCullough, M.D., internist, cardiologist, and epidemiologist, for a wide-ranging conversation on the childhood vaccine schedule, autism spectrum disorder, and the rapidly shifting landscape around vaccine policy in the United States. Among her concerns: no long-term pediatric data, loss of muscle mass with weight regain returning as fat, and documented side effects including gastroparesis, pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and a black box warning for depression and suicidal ideation. She also flags that a generic version of one of these drugs is available on Amazon without a prescription — a situation she believes is already creating risks in high school settings.
