Each year, approximately 700,000 lives are lost to cardiovascular disease. Shockingly, half of these individuals experience no prior symptoms before an event. Low levels of nitric oxide—a molecule that promotes vasodilation and smooth blood flow—could be largely responsible, and by recognizing the signs of deficiency, we can take steps to raise our levels and lower our risk.
Today on The Dhru Purohit Podcast, Dhru sits down with Dr. Nathan Bryan to talk about why nitric oxide is the single most underrated molecule when it comes to our short- and long-term health.
Dhru and Dr. Bryan discuss the link between low nitric oxide levels and heart disease, sexual health, Alzheimer’s, high blood pressure, and metabolic health. They also discuss what gets in the way of optimal nitric oxide levels, specific foods and lifestyle choices that can boost your nitric oxide production, the different signs of nitric oxide deficiency, how to test your nitric oxide levels, and so much more.
Dr. Nathan Bryan is an international leader in molecular medicine and nitric oxide biochemistry. He’s been involved in nitric oxide research for the past 20 years, and his many seminal discoveries have resulted in dozens of US and international patents.
Dr. Bryan's discoveries have led to product and technology innovations that have improved patient care worldwide. He is the founder of Nitric Oxide Innovations, LLC, a privately held, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that is actively engaged in the discovery and development of nitric oxide-based therapies.
In this episode, Dhru and Dr. Bryan dive into:
  • What happens in the body when we don’t produce enough nitric oxide (1:46)
  • The link between nitric oxide and heart health (3:46)
  • How nitric oxide is produced in the body (10:04)
  • Habits that boost nitric oxide production (12:02)
  • How mouthwash inhibits nitric oxide production (18:20)
  • Nasal breathing and nitric oxide production (27:15)
  • The impact of proton pump inhibitors on creating nitric oxide (32:30)
  • High blood pressure and its link to nitric oxide (42:25)
  • How morning sunlight creates nitric oxide (45:22)
  • Dr. Bryan’s story: how he became so passionate about nitric oxide (53:14)
  • Early signs of low nitric oxide levels (58:26)
  • Foods that reduce nitric oxide levels (1:07:20)
  • How to test your nitric oxide levels (1:12:20)
  • Leafy green vegetables to boost nitric oxide production (1:20:56)

A year ago, ICAN announced it obtained lot, dose, and distribution information for Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine. ICAN is pleased to announce that, after a full year of legal battles, its attorneys have also obtained lot, dose, and distribution information for Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine. As with the Pfizer data, this data will help enable analyses to determine if certain lots were “hot lots” that resulted in more severe and/or numerous adverse event reports.
In March 2022, ICAN’s attorneys filed two FOIA requests with CDC seeking information on Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine lot numbers, total doses administered, lot shipments, and distribution. When CDC responded with heavily redacted and virtually useless documents, ICAN was ultimately forced to file suit against CDC and HHS.
Eventually, CDC agreed to produce the unredacted Moderna data and ICAN has recently received the final batch of data. ICAN is pleased to make this data available to the public.
We know from VAERS data that certain Moderna vaccine lots appear to be responsible for a disproportionate number of reported deaths and injuries. But without knowing the total number of doses shipped per lot, it was impossible to know the truth. Now, as with the Pfizer vaccine, the public will have full access to this vital data and can do the analyses that our government has unfortunately failed to do itself.
You can download the Moderna data here.
See below for more examples of ICAN’s work in demanding truthful information about Covid-19 vaccines:

Hi Jim,

Our Raw Food and Plant-Based Mastery Summit 2023, as well as our recent webinar, "Raw Food: Does it Really Make a Difference?" brought up many of the similarities and differences between starch-focused whole food plant-based diets and those that emphasize fruits and vegetables.

We performed a dietary comparison and were pretty amazed to see just how notable some of those differences can be. We are very glad to share the outcome of this analysis with you in this email article!

To get started, we have a starched-based “original” diet as a reference point, and then we change things up with our fruit and vegetable-based “makeover” diet to see what happens when we de-emphasize some of the starches and add more fruits and vegetables in their place.

Both diets are free from sugar, oil, and salt, with the exception of a small amount of salt in the tortillas of the original diet. The overall sodium intake of the original diet is still less than 400 mg for the entire day.

As shown in the table below, the original diet breakfast consists of 2 servings of rolled oats, with diced apple, raisins, cinnamon, and flax meal. The original lunch consists of two vegan burritos made from sprouted grain (flourless) tortillas, filled with tomato, avocado, zucchini, brown rice, and black beans. The original dinner is made from two cups of cooked broccoli, and one cup each of quinoa and chickpeas.

What changed?

For breakfast, we chose a totally different meal. We made a fruit and green smoothie instead of oatmeal.

For lunch, we kept the same quantities of avocado, zucchini, brown rice, and black beans from the original diet. We doubled the tomato, and used additional raw and steamed vegetables in place of the wraps. Mashed avocado and diced tomato make a simple salsa that can be poured over the lettuce and zucchini as a creamy salad dressing. The avocado tomato dressing could also be a great topping for the rice and beans and / or the steamed veggies.

For dinner, we reduced our quantity of quinoa and chickpeas by 50%, added a large salad made from lettuce, tomato, carrot, zucchini, and cucumber, topped with a delicious dressing made from celery, onion, lemon juice, chia seeds, and walnuts, and kept the 2 cups of cooked broccoli.

Instead of 1 TBSP of ground flax seeds added to the breakfast oatmeal of the original diet, we used 1 TBSP of chia seeds and 1.5 TBSP of walnuts in the salad dressing of fruit and vegetable-based diet dinner for omega 3 sources. Both the total fat content and % of calories from fat of each diet were virtually identical.

Original DietMakeover Diet
Original Breakfast:
Oatmeal w apple, raisins, cinnmon, flax

Whole Oats, rolled, 2 Servings
Apple, fresh, with skin, 1 medium
Raisins, 2 TBSP
Cinnamon, ground, 1 tsp
Flax Seed Meal, 1 TBSP
Makeover Breakfast:
Fruit and Green Smoothie

Banana, fresh, 2 medium
Oranges, fresh, 2 medium
Mango, frozen, 1 cup
Kale, raw, 2 leaves
Original Lunch:
Vegan Burritos

Sprouted grain tortillas x 2
Tomato, red, raw, 2 small Roma
Zucchini, raw, 1 large
Avocado, raw, California, ½
Brown rice, steamed, ½ cup
Black beans, cooked, ½ cup
Makeover Lunch:
Salad, dressing, steamed veg, rice + beans

Lettuce, romaine, ½ head
Tomato, red, raw, 4 small Roma
Zucchini, raw, 1 large
Avocado, raw, California, ½
Brown rice, steamed, ½ cup
Black beans, cooked, ½ cup
Kale, cooked from fresh, 1 cup
Cauliflower, cooked from fresh, 1.5 cups
Carrots, cooked from fresh, 1 cup
Original Dinner:
Steamed broccoli, quinoa, chickpeas

Broccoli, 2 cups, chopped
Quinoa, cooked, 1 cup
Chickpeas, boiled without salt, 1 cup
Makeover Dinner: Large salad, dressing, steamed veggies, quinoa, chickpeas

Lettuce, romaine, ½ head
Tomato, red, raw, 2 small Roma
Carrots, raw, ½ cup
Zucchini, raw, ½ cup
Cucumber, raw, ½ cup
Celery, raw, 3 medium
Onion, white, etc. ¼ medium
Lemons, raw, ½
Chia seeds, 1 TBSP
Walnuts, 1.5 TBSP
Broccoli, 2 cups, chopped
Quinoa, cooked, ½ cup
Chickpeas, boiled without salt, ½ cup

What was the nutritional outcome?

Drumroll please! In changing from the original diet to the makeover diet, we saw some dramatic nutritional changes. To start with, even though we notably increased the volume of food, we decreased calories by 103, which also increased dietary fiber by 23%.

Regarding vitamins, the beta carotene content increased by an incredible 1,870%, vitamin C increased by 283%, vitamin E increased by 80%, Vitamin K increased by 460%, and folate more than doubled.

Omega 3 fats tripled, while improving the omega 6 to omega 3 ratio from 3.0 to 1.66 and keeping the overall fat intake the same for both diets. Omega 3 recommendations are 1.1 grams for women, and 1.6 grams for men. The original diet provided 1.7 grams of omega 3 in total, but that would have been only 0.8 grams without the flax meal. In the makeover diet, even without the addition of chia seeds and walnuts in the dinner salad dressing, the omega 3 content was 2.5 grams, which increased to 5.7 grams with the addition of the chia seeds and walnuts. Leafy green vegetables, both raw and cooked, are excellent sources of omega 3 fats when eaten in substantial quantities, such as the amounts shown in the makeover diet.

For minerals, the calcium content increased by 230% and magnesium increased by 37%. Sodium went up by 89 mg due to increased vegetable intake. These vegetables and the fruit from the smoothie also more than doubled the potassium intake, which dramatically improved the sodium to potassium ratio. Iron increased by 21%, while zinc remained consistently solid in both diets.

Don't get us wrong, the original starch-centered diet is a dramatic improvement over conventional diets! It’s high in nutrient density, low in calorie density, high in fiber, and low in fat with a healthy fatty acid profile. It is the type of diet that has been scientifically proven to reduce excess body fat, and reverse health challenges like cardiovascular disease, hypertension, type II diabetes, autoimmune issues, etc. That’s incredibly powerful stuff!

Hey Jimi,

Following up on our series of health topics everyone wanted more of, today we've got an eye-opening interview about the critical role of bile and detoxification.

Dr. Jay Davidson took some time to walk us through all the ways that bile helps to keep the body functioning regularly...

As well as how TUDCA (Tauroursodeoxycholic acid) is needed to keep bile production regular.

Click here to check out the interview

See, there are 3 phases of detoxification that go on in the liver.

The first 2 focus on detoxifying fat-soluble toxins, and the last one is pure drainage. It eliminates toxin byproducts via bile, urine and stool.

But what happens if you don't have enough bile? Or it's not flowing like it should?

Well, not only do those first 2 detox phases get backed up...

But so does everything else relying on bile to drain waste - your lymphatic system, your organs and tissues, even individual cells.

Then all of a sudden, you've got a massive build-up of toxin byproducts that start crossing the blood-bile barrier and entering your circulation.

What TUDCA does is it helps to open up the liver and bile ducts, on top of producing bile to flush out toxins, stimulates bile flow, even improving the quality of your bile.

Click here to watch part of the interview

This is a mind-blowing presentation! Dr. Davidson breaks down and simplifies incredibly complex yet crucial processes. In the full video, he discusses the following and a LOT more! (Seriously, we were all blown away.)

  • How low stomach acid can actually be a symptom of a bile problem.
  • The massive impact of environmental toxins on our health, and why Cellcore’s BioToxin Binder is our #1 recommended binder.
  • The extremely powerful systemic benefits of TUDCA despite being largely unknown – and how instrumental it was in improving Michael’s liver health!
  • How optimizing your bile flow can minimize the damage from strokes and heart attacks.
  • Why lymphatic movement is crucial for adequate immune system function and detoxification – and how we can improve lymph quality and flow.

Click here to watch part of the interview

If you want to watch the full interview, just click the link under the video.

Keep your eyes on your inbox for more mind-expanding content. We've got a lot of surprises coming your way!

Why Do Toxins Cause Diabetes, Cancer, and Other Diseases?

In the post I published on Saturday, I forgot to include a section about why toxins cause diabetes (and cancer and other diseases).
So I added a section about that, and this section is relevant to almost anybody with any symptom or health condition because it describes how toxins damage mitochondrial function, and mitochondrial dysfunction is involved with most major diseases and symptoms, not just diabetes.
You can go straight to that section of the post using the Table of Contents. Just click on "Table of Contents" and then click on "Why Do Toxins Cause Diabetes (and Cancer and Other Diseases)?"

So here are 3 ways to avoid microplastics in your everyday life.

1. Don’t microwave food in plastic.

Yes, nuking leftovers or takeout meals in their original plastic containers is convenient. But it’s also risky.

When you heat plastic it can cause the release of microplastics and other toxins, which can easily leach into the food.

This applies to various plastic items such as Tupperware, takeout boxes, container lids, and pre-packaged frozen meals intended for microwaving.

To minimize exposure to this junk, put your food in ceramic or glass containers before reheating.

You also want to avoid washing plastic containers in the dishwasher, as the high heat and water pressure can degrade the plastic, leading to increased leaching of microplastics.

2. Replace tea bags with loose leaf tea.

Tea is one of the most healthy drinks you can enjoy.

But if you do enjoy tea, skip the tea bags and brew loose leaves.

Most tea bags are made up of about 25% plastic. And even the ones marketed as paper are usually glued together with polypropylene, a type of plastic.

One recent study found that, when a plastic tea bag was brewed, 11.6 billion microplastics were released into the drink. (4)

3. Watch what you wear.

Did you know that about 60% of clothing material these days is made up of synthetic fibers like nylon, polyester, and acrylic?

These fabrics are popular because they're versatile, affordable, and durable. But, there's a not-so-great side to them too.

Every time we wash clothes made from these materials, they release hundreds of thousands of tiny microplastic particles into the water.

Can you believe that acrylic fabrics alone release over 700,000 microplastics per wash cycle? Yikes!

In fact, a report from 2017 found that a whopping 35% of all microplastics that end up in the ocean actually come from these synthetic fabrics.

If you can, opt for natural fibers like wool, silk, and hemp.

Special: Coronary Heart Disease: 5 Tips to Reduce Your Risk

Here are seven “quick fixes” you can make now to give you a boost, and keep you on track to reverse or prevent heart disease.

Eat a Heart-Healthy Breakfast. A study published in the American Heart Association’s journal Circulation showed that skipping breakfast actually raised the risk of a heart attack or death from coronary heart disease 27% when compared to regular breakfast-eaters. But it’s not only eating breakfast that’s important — it’s also what you eat. Egg whites, paired with other fresh, whole foods such as diced tomatoes, spinach, or mushrooms, offer a healthy start to the day.

See Your Dentist. Increasingly, the evidence is pointing to inflammation as the cause of atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, which sets the stage for most heart attacks. Gum disease — also called gingivitis or periodontal disease — is a very common and dangerous form of hidden, chronic bodily inflammation.

Walk for Better Cardio Health. Walking is the easiest, least expensive, and most convenient way to lose weight and maintain lifelong fitness. It’s also a great way to build your cardiac endurance without running the risk of injury associated with more intense sports.

Find Out if You Snore. A condition called obstructive sleep apnea is often the cause of snoring. It is a common but dangerous sleep disorder and is considered a hidden cause of heart disease.

Check Your Feet. The common fungal infection known as athlete’s foot can be an indicator of whether a patient has, or is at risk for, developing diabetes. Athlete’s foot and other fungal infections indicate that inflammation is occurring within the body, which raises coronary heart disease risk as well.

Stop Drinking Diet Soda. There may actually be something about diet soda that signals your brain to eat more to make up the lost calories, even though you’re unaware of the urge.

Sing! A recent study suggests that singing, especially in a group, does your heart good. Other previous research found that singing strengthens the lungs and causes the release of endorphins, our natural so-called “happy” hormones.

Save Our Nation’s Old-Growth Forests
Mature and old-growth forests—like the temperate rainforest of the Tongass and towering redwoods of California—are key to fighting the climate and biodiversity crisis. But decades of aggressive logging practices have left us with about 10 percent of old-growth forests across the US, and hundreds of thousands of acres of these trees are still currently slated to be logged. We have the power to change this.

Through July 20, the Forest Service is accepting public comments on a rulemaking process that could protect up to 112 million acres of mature and old-growth forests from logging.

It’s our chance to protect critical ecosystems like the 200-year-old Coast Range forests in Oregon and mature forests along the Appalachian Trail in West Virginia and Kentucky—and keep them from being sold and cut for profit.

We know that our voices really matter in moments like these. Join Patagonia and our partners in reaching our goal of 500,000 public comments submitted.
Save Old-Growth Forests from the Chopping Block
Take action by July 20 and help us reach our goal of 500,000 comments.

On May 18, 2023, the FDA’s vaccine committee met to vote on whether Pfizer’s new RSV vaccine is “safe” and “effective.” Ahead of that meeting, ICAN, through its attorneys, wrote a letter to the FDA committee members to warn about numerous serious issues evident from its clinical trial, including the low efficacy, significant adverse events, and lack of a placebo control.
ICAN pointed out that the study’s authors themselves admitted that “the criterion for vaccine efficacy was not met” for some of the infants in the trial. But if that weren’t bad enough, the letter also noted a concerning increase in adverse reactions in the infants born to vaccinated mothers, which included respiratory distress, low birth weight, hypoglycemia, prematurity, and sepsis.
Vaccinated mothers in the trial similarly had a higher rate of severe and life-threatening reactions than their unvaccinated counterparts, including premature delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia, and fetal distress, as well as a higher rate of stillbirths. Alarmingly, one vaccinated mother died from postpartum hemorrhage and hypovolemic shock.
Compounding these issues, ICAN noted that the control used in the study was not a placebo (such as a saline injection) because clinicaltrials.gov lists the control as a “biological.” Utilizing a non-inert biological, instead of a placebo, means the clinical trial could not establish the actual safety profile of the vaccine and further heightens concern regarding the serious safety issues seen in the clinical trial.
ICAN will continue to keep you updated on the approval process. In the meantime, you can read ICAN’s letter in full here.
See the links below for more of ICAN’s work involving vaccine advisory committees:

Hi Jimi!
Carol Howard, RN, was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer in 2016.
After a hysterectomy, Carol almost died in the hospital and had to be resuscitated after she was given a lethal dose of painkillers by hospital staff.
Carol was told there was no cure for her type of cancer and was encouraged to do chemotherapy anyway. The doctors said she would live “maybe two years with chemotherapy” and between 6 weeks and 6 months without chemo.
Carol decided against chemotherapy and adopted a holistic healing approach centered around a mostly raw, plant-based diet along with exercise, herbs, hyperthermic hydrotherapy, breath work, and more.
Carol is cancer-free today and is an active member of her local HealingStrong holistic support group and actively shares her inspirational story with others.
Carol is living proof that a rare terminal cancer does not have to be a death sentence. If you’re determined to live and you are willing to radically change your life, you can heal!
Enjoy!

A Thought-Provoking Perspective on Recent CDC Guidelines

Understanding the CDC's Endorsement of 'Chestfeeding': Implications for Healthcare Language and Practice

I am quoted in an article I recently came across that I believe you may find both intriguing and timely, especially considering the ever-evolving landscape of medicine.
The article, published by the Children's Health Defense, explores a new term that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has endorsed: 'chestfeeding' as a replacement for 'breastfeeding' in certain contexts. This change is part of a larger initiative to make health language more inclusive, specifically for the transgender community.
As your doctor, I think it's important for you to stay informed about these shifts in health language, what they mean, and how they might impact our communication about your health care.
You can read the article here: CDC Endorses ‘Chestfeeding’ for Biological Males, Triggering Criticism From Medical Experts • Children's Health Defense (childrenshealthdefense.org)
I encourage you to let me know if you have any questions or thoughts on this topic. I'm always here to facilitate open and supportive discussions about your health.
Take care,

All too often doctors fail to investigate the origin of disease and instead prescribe a medication that only serves to mask the outward symptoms. This approach can never fully solve the problem, and it typically only creates new problems to go along with the original one.

Hi Jimi,

Losing sleep is like losing life.

You lack energy, motivation, and clarity the next day. Fast forward several nights of this and you're short-tempered, unhappy, and in a daze.

Fast forward months or years of insomnia? Well, that's bad news. Your hormones go nuts, your skin shows it, your sex drive is on the floor, and your memory is shot. That's just the beginning!

Longterm insomnia can lead to all kinds of chronic disease and it certainly doesn't help us heal if we've already got one.

I had a bad bout of insomnia last summer and had to dive in to figure out WHY. I didn't have a history of it and it seemingly came from nowhere.

I learned A LOT about the reasons I wasn't sleeping and want to share my research. I fixed my own sleep and have helped dozens of folks do the same since.

I was supposed to be the expert in this stuff. I owned a Sleep Lab and a Brain Lab but the answers were eluding me until I dug into this new literature.

I recorded a free webinar on the topic to support my students. I invite you to check it out right now by clicking the image below.
Restorative-Sleep-Masterclass-Thumbnail-1
I talk about the three main areas you need to look right now if you are suffering from insomnia. I have also created a new digital version of the full course (by popular demand) that you can see after the webinar. I'll mention those options at the end of the talk.

But first, let me share some of the new research with you.

See the webinar now.

Enjoy,
