Intent on showing that the French government had violated Beljanski’s right to a fair trial, Sylvie took the case to the European Court of Justice. In 2002, several years after Dr. Beljanski’s passing, the court found in Beljanski’s favor. Sylvie has since dedicated her life to picking up her parent’s work through the Beljanski Foundation – including relocating to the USA.

Stuffed Green Peppers with Spanish Rice and Lentils
(full recipe in this email below)
We're taking the familiar stuffed pepper and giving it a twist that's sure to excite your taste buds.

Ingredients:
  • 1 medium orange or yellow bell pepper diced
  • 2 medium green peppers with tops cut off, and deseeded
  • 1/4 cu vegetable broth for sautéing
  • 1 large garlic clove minced
  • 1 medium onion sliced and rings separated
  • 28 oz can low-sodium tomatoes broken up
  • 1/2 cup green lentils rinsed before cooking
  • 1 cup uncooked brown rice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red chilies
Directions:
  1. Prepare the 2 green peppers. Cut off the top and remove the seeds and ribs. Rinse and dry the pepper, setting it aside.
  2. In a large pot heat the vegetable broth on medium-high heat. Saute the garlic and onion for 3 minutes or until the onion is softened.
  3. Add the tomatoes, lentils, rice, water, paprika, cumin, chili powder and crushed red chilies. Bring to a boil; then reduce heat, covering the pot and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is cooked and the lentils are soft.
  4. Add the yellow or orange diced pepper and simmer uncovered for 3 minutes.
  5. Place the hollow green pepper on a lined-baking sheet and stuffed the peppers with the rice/lentil mixture. Put on the top of pepper and cook in a preheated oven (400°F).
  6. The oven rack should be placed in the middle of the oven. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes until the green pepper starts to soften.

What to Do After a Cardiac Hospital Stay

These tips tailored to specific types of cardiac hospital procedures can do much to enable a positive recovery post-surgery.

If you’ve undergone any type of surgical procedure, from a bypass graft to the insertion of a pacemaker, you need to watch out for infection or other problems. Call your doctor if you experience any of the following:

Special: Why Those Over 50 Should Take Sleep Issues Seriously

• Chest pain

• Fever and chills

• Shortness of breath or breathing difficulties when lying in bed

• Fluid buildup in your legs

• Dizziness or passing out

• Irregular heartbeat

• Any signs of a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). This would include: sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body; sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or understanding; sudden trouble seeing or blurred vision in one or both eyes; and sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance, or coordination.

If you have had major cardiac surgery, it is normal to require more sleep. Eventually, though, you should feel your old energy returning. But it may take some time, especially if you’ve undergone major surgery.

Don’t be impatient; give your body the time it needs. It can often take up to three months before you are feeling 90% back to the way you were pre-surgery.

Take care of your incision. No matter how large your incision, or where it is, you need to keep an eye on it. Call your doctor if it does not appear to be healing, or if you see any drainage or bleeding. Stay out of the water, including bathtubs and pools, until it heals. Showers are fine though.

Keep an eye on your surgical pocket. If you’ve had a pacemaker or left ventricular defibrillator implanted, your doctor created a surgical pocket for it. Notify your doctor immediately if you experience any sign of infection (such as fever or chills) or if it becomes swollen or enlarged.

Forgotten Wonders of Pycnogenol

Dr. Russell Blaylock, M.D., writes:


When pycnogenol (French maritime pine bark extract) first appeared on the natural health market, it caused a lot of excitement. But it has been mostly forgotten.

That’s unfortunate, because it has a number of incredible health benefits. For example, in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 101 patients ages 60-85 were given either a placebo or 150 mg of pycnogenol for three months as a possible way to prevent and treat a decline in cognitive function. Researchers tested attention, working memory, episodic memory, and psychomotor performance. They found a significant improvement in working memory (which we use every day) and a dramatic decrease in lipid peroxidation products in those taking pycnogenol supplements.

Special: Doctor Finally Discovers Natural Secret Weapon Against Aging

Vascular diseases affecting the retina are quite common and can lead to blindness. In another study, researchers tested 40 patients with diabetes, atherosclerosis, or other vascular diseases and found that the 30 they treated with 50 mg of pycnogenol three times a day for two months not only demonstrated no deterioration, but also showed significant improvement in visual acuity. The patients who got a placebo continued to deteriorate.

The researchers also conducted special testing (fluorangiography and electroretinogram) that demonstrated objective improvement in retinal vascularization and function within the treatment group.

Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness in the United States. The primary damage occurs in microscopic blood vessels in the retina (called diabetic microangiopathy). Another study used older patients with advanced diabetic complications. The subjects were given 50 mg of pycnogenol three times a day for four weeks. After a month, they saw a significant improvement of microangiopathy, with a significant decrease in leakage of the vessels — a major cause of retinal damage and blindness.

In another study, researchers found that pycnogenol supplementation could significantly improve healing of diabetic ulcers, which can be very difficult to mend. The ulcers healed completely in 89% of the patients within six weeks. One use of pycnogenol is for treatment of vein problems of the legs that can cause swelling and eventual development of leg ulcers, which are difficult to heal. Patients taking pycnogenol saw reduced swelling of their legs and a significant reduction in venous leakage, which also prevented ulcerations.

Pycnogenol has also been very effective for preventing venous thrombosis in people who fly long distances. Pycnogenol increases nitric oxide production, but only in blood vessels, thereby improving blood flow. (Hesperidin also selectively increases blood vessel nitric oxide.) In addition, pycnogenol lowers elevated blood pressure when taken for 12 weeks.

Another beneficial effect is its ability to lower histamine levels, which reduces allergy symptoms.

Based on its ability to improve blood flow and stimulate blood vessel nitric oxide levels, pycnogenol should also significantly improve I am a spammer ban me dysfunction, even to normal levels, when combined with L-arginine.

In another study, researchers observed a significant improvement in vascular insufficiency-induced leg cramps and pain. The usual dose is 50 mg to 100 mg three times a day.

"Hey Jen, I'm just stumped at this point. My doctor doesn't know what to tell me anymore… I've tried so many suggestions over the past 2 years that haven't really helped much or have made my skin freak out even worse.
I don't understand why I can't figure this out when other people seem to get relief with these things. I'm really frustrated (if you can't tell) and don't know if you have any idea why nothing seems to work. I'm tired of using all these creams especially the topical meds my doctor prescribed (ie. steroids) but I don't know what else to do."

Have you found yourself saying/feeling something really similar?​

This is a real email I got from one of my community members.
I know what it's like to seek answers from people in Facebook groups or other places online because your doctor doesn't seem to have any other ideas for you.
In those groups, you get bombarded by different lotion or product recommendations.
Then not long after, almost every food you love is demonized + you start wondering if your diet will soon consist of just air.

Gut Bacteria Linked to Parkinson's Disease Development

A recent study suggests that Parkinson's disease, in which parts of the brain are progressively damaged over many years, may actually start in the gut.

Nearly 30% of the gut bacteria in patients with Parkinson's differed from those without the disease, according to British and U.S. researchers.

Study co-author Ayse Demirkan, a senior lecturer at the University of Surrey, noted that death and impairments due to Parkinson's are increasing faster than any other neurological disorder worldwide. Diagnosed cases have more than doubled in the past 25 years.

"This is very concerning as there is no known cure," Demirkan said in a university news release. "However, the more we learn about the causes of the disease, the more informed we can be in developing new treatments and, eventually, a cure."

Parkinson's is a brain disorder that can cause uncontrollable movements such as shaking, limb stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination.

Previous research had pointed to a possible link between gut bacteria and the disease, Demirkan said, though those studies were small.

This study recruited 490 people with Parkinson's and 234 neurologically healthy individuals. Each provided a stool sample and information about themselves.

When samples were analyzed, researchers found that bacteria, genes, and biological pathways differed by more than 30% in those with Parkinson's compared to those without the movement disorder.

One example was the bacterial species Bifidobacterium dentium, known to cause infections such as brain abscesses. Levels were seven times higher in folks with Parkinson's, while levels of Roseburia intestinalis, a bacterium found in healthy colons, were 7.5 times lower. Constipation is a recognized symptom of Parkinson's.

A cluster of bacteria known to cause infections — Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, and Klebsiella quasipneumoniae — had elevated levels in those with Parkinson's.

"Our current research is not designed to answer whether the bacteria itself is the initial cause of the disease; some may also be a consequence of the disease, or may be even influenced by the genetic makeup of the individual," Demirkan said.

The findings were published in Nature Communications.
