Seeing positive messages often really helps them sink in. You learn to choose those messages over your negative thoughts.

Eventually, you don't even have to try to remember them; they become a part of your belief system.

Leave little colorful notes around the house to be reminded of the things you are grateful for in your life.

These simple notes get your attention and help you train your mind to think constructively.

Health thought of the day:

Glyphosate is a common herbicide used on traditional food crops today. This chemical is used to destroy specific plants and grasses, control plant growth, harvest crops, and ripen fruit.

A French study revealed that glyphosate-based herbicides affect the endocrine system and damage the DNA, increasing the risk of cancer. Another study discovered that Human placental cells are hazardous to glyphosate. People who have been exposed to it for 18 hours or longer, even at lesser dosages, are more likely to be harmed by it.

To avoid excessive exposure to these carcinogenic chemicals, consider purchasing 100% organic foods at the grocery store, or even better, growing some of your vegetables organically at home.

I've recently discovered that TOO MANY women have a pelvic floor disorder and don't realize it. (Being a man, obviously I can't fully relate, but when most of my clients are women 50 and older, I definitely have compassion, but more importantly, I can share real solutions from other women who have figured all this out, for YOU.)

Acid Blockers May Fuel Heart Attack Risk

Proton pump inhibitors are such effective stomach acid blockers they are now among the most-popular medications in the U.S. But a recent study says they may also increase heart attack risk.

Researchers at Houston Methodist and Stanford University analyzed data that included 1.8 million patients of Stanford Hospital and clinic to identify those who had no history of heart attack but were taking PPIs or H2 blockers for heartburn.

The researchers found the PPIs were associated with a 16% to 21% increase in the risk of heart attack. But in a separate analysis, they found no increase for H2 blockers.

Although the study did not offer proof that PPIs were to blame for the increased risk, these medications are known to decrease nitric oxide, which is essential for maintaining the structure and the elasticity of the heart’s blood vessels, researchers noted.

PPIs are the strongest acid inhibitors available, and many are available over the counter. Examples of H2 blockers include cimetidine (Tagamet) and ranitidine (Zantac).

We know for a lot of our community, dealing with challenges around disordered eating, or eating disorders, is a daily reality.

Learning to understand ourselves and our challenges with food can truly be a long and winding journey.

Eugenyl methyl ether, commonly known as methyl eugenol, is used to enhance the flavor of ice creams, jellies, baked products, non-alcoholic beverages, and relishes. The issue is that methyl eugenol is classified as a carcinogen under California's Proposition 65. This comes after animals exposed to the chemical were shown to have an elevated risk of cancer.
Another food supplement study published in the Scientific Research Journal found that methyl eugenol is both genotoxic and carcinogenic.
When purchasing goods for your family, study the labels and avoid those that include eugenyl methyl, sometimes known as "fake tastes."

It’s sad but true…

Prickly Pear Helps Reduce Blood Sugar

In the most memorable song from Disney's 1967 movie "The Jungle Book," Baloo the bear teaches young Mowgli the ins and outs of enjoying an exotic (but potentially menacing) prickly pear.

Baloo sings: "Now, when you pick a paw paw or a prickly pear, and you prick a raw paw, next time beware. Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw. When you pick a pear, try to use the claw."

You don't have to forage for your own prickly pear, but we do recommend that you try to get your paws on some. A few studies show that this spiny fruit of the nopales cactus protects against DNA mutations that can spark health problems.

They're packed with vitamins, including A and C, which boost immunity and support skin, teeth, and eye health. They're also fiber-rich, which is good for the health of your gut biome.

In two small studies of people with Type 2 diabetes, those who ate steamed prickly pear with a high-carbohydrate meal had lower blood sugar levels post-meal.

Enjoy these oddly named fruits — called "tuna" in Spanish, "prickly pear" in English — by cutting them in half and eating the flesh and seeds, or by adding to sauces and smoothies.

And don't overlook the cactus' flat green pads (called "nopalitos"). Just make sure every single tiny spine is removed, and avoid thick, mature pads, which are rough and flavorless. Then chop them up and add to tacos, toss into a salad, or scramble them up with some eggs.
