Piled High Veggie Potato Nachos
(full recipe in this email below)
As we head into the fall season, with it comes fall sports, tailgates, and of course food!

Sticking to a plant-based diet, doesn’t mean that you should miss out on some of those tasty gameday favorites!

Check out this delicious veggie nacho dish. Two types of potatoes make this dish hearty, healthy, and tasty; and you will soon see why it will become a family favorite!

Potatoes have often gotten a bad rap, but they are actually a great addition to a plant-based diet.

Aside from being nutritious, potatoes are also incredibly filling as they are a good source of fiber, which can help you lose weight by keeping you full longer. Fiber can also help prevent heart disease by keeping cholesterol and blood glucose levels in check. Potatoes are also full of antioxidants that work to prevent diseases and vitamins that help your body function properly.

Potatoes are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which make them very healthy. Studies have linked potatoes and their nutrients to a variety of impressive health benefits, including improved blood glucose control, reduced heart disease risk, and higher immunity. They may also improve digestive health and combat signs of aging.

Just keep in mind that HOW you prepare your potatoes matters so avoid frying and stick to steaming, boiling, broiling, baking, roasting, and microwaving and ENJOY your potatoes! 🥔
Piled High Veggie Potato Nachos
Ingredients:
  • 1 medium Russet potato thinly sliced
  • 1 serving vegan cheese sauce (see recipe below)
  • pinch black pepper
  • 1 small scallion chopped
  • 1/2 cup low sodium black beans
  • 1/2 cup corn fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 medium green pepper chopped
  • 2 large leaves romaine lettuce shredded
  • 2 tbsp sliced black olives
  • 2 tbsp cilantro chopped
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 medium tomato chopped
Vegan Cheese Sauce:
  • 1 medium Yukon Gold potato
  • 1 medium carrot chopped
  • 1/2 cup cashews
  • 4 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 cups hot water (or cooking water from the potato and carrots)
Directions:
  1. Preheat the oven to Bake at 400°F. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat.
  2. Place the potato slices on the prepared baking sheet. Ensure that the potatoes are laid out in a single layer. Cook for 15 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked and browned slightly.
  3. Heat up one serving of cheese sauce (see instructions below).
  4. Combine the tomatoes, chili powder, cilantro, black pepper and scallion and set aside.
  5. Assemble the nachos: on a plate place the potatoes and top with black beans, corn, green pepper, lettuce, black olives, and tomato mixture and serve with a side of the heated cheese sauce or pour the sauce over the nachos.
For the Vegan Cheese Sauce:
  1. In a pot of boiling water, cook the potatoes and carrots until soft.
  2. Put all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Add more water one tablespoon at a time until you get the consistency you wish.
  3. Put the unused sauce in an air-tight container and store in the refrigerator.
NOTE:
  • You can add or replace any vegetable you wish to this dish!

A Diet for Preventing Lung Cancer

“The Stuff” is a 1980s cult film that tells the story of a parasitical frozen yogurt-like substance that bubbles out of the earth and overtakes humans with its highly addictive flavor. People just can't get enough of The Stuff.

The 1975 movie “The Strongest Man in the World” is about an accident in a school laboratory that combines one student's nutrient-packed cereal with another's chemical experiment.

Special: Amazon Ritual Could Boost Bedroom Performance in Days

Put those two together and you've got the results of a global study of almost 1.5 million people that found eating a diet loaded with yogurt and fiber is a powerful way to cut your lung cancer risk.

Researchers looked at men and women in their 50s and found that those who ate a lot of yogurt and had the most fiber intake (from whole grains, fruits, and veggies) cut their risk of lung cancer by more than 30% compared to people who ate very little fiber and no yogurt.

The researchers suggest that prebiotics from fiber and probiotics from yogurt are what help the immune system dodge lung cancer whether you're a current, past, or never smoker.

It’s one more reason to eat only 100% whole grains, seven to nine servings of produce daily, and probiotic-rich foods such as low- or no-fat yogurt, as well as kefir, sour dill pickles, kimchi, kombucha (a fermented tea), miso, natto (a food made from fermented soybeans), sauerkraut, the popular meat substitute tempeh, and water- or brine-cured olives.

In addition, take a probiotic supplement with lactobacillus daily.

Skin Rash Rebuild LIVE! enrollment ends in...​

Hey Jimi,
Today I want to tell you about Abigail — she dreaded showering because (in her words)....
"Showering felt like razors on my skin"
She didn't know what to do at that point because all of the detoxes and elimination diets and supplements weren't making it better.
So she scheduled an appointment with a local dermatologist.
He said it was just eczema.
So she made an appointment with a different dermatologist — and was told the same thing.
So she made a 3rd appointment with yet another derm — again just eczema.
Finally on her 4th derm
— he agreed to do a culture of her skin.

MRSA​

(Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus)
It took her 4 dermatologists to finally figure out that A STAPH INFECTION ON HER SKIN was causing her crazy flare!
I'm so glad that Abigail was persistent and knew what to ask for each time because getting treatment for the MRSA was so helpful for her.
I find that so many people in her boat don't know how to advocate for themselves (no matter what type of skin diagnosis you have).

I should know. I spent 30 years of my life asleep.
Righteously asleep.
Science was my religion. I had a big mouth, lots of certainty about my opinions, and believed that perfect health was just one prescription away.
But when I was diagnosed with my first real health problem — Hashimoto’s thyroiditis — I felt cornered and resistant. It was 9 months after the birth of my first daughter and 7.5 months back to work at the hospital and in my private practice.
I was long back to my pre-pregnancy weight and loving motherhood, but I locked myself out of my office on several occasions, and had to, more than once, mail a cab driver a check because of a forgotten wallet (compassionate souls).
One day, I stood at an ATM, at a total loss for what my PIN had ever been. I’d gone through an excessive amount of cocoa butter lotion that winter and remember trying to reassure myself about the tremendous and unrelenting hair loss.
On a routine physical, there it was, in black and white: Postpartum thyroiditis or Hashimoto’s with a TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) of 20 and antibodies in the thousands.😨

It’s almost unfair: Just when we should be enjoying the rewards of a lifetime of hard work, in our 50s and 60s, our bodies start to slow down. Muscles and joints ache, it’s harder to lose weight, and fatigue is a constant problem.

This makes it difficult to play with kids and grandkids, do activities with friends, or even just move heavy objects around the house.

But according to the world’s most famous trainer, this doesn’t have to be the case.

"I feel younger at 61 than I did at 30," said Tony Horton, who trains many of the top celebrities in the world. "It's a method anyone can do that takes about one or two minutes a day. And within a very short period of time, you're going to feel stronger, and probably healthier, than you have in years."

The reason we experience these age-related problems is no mystery: Doctors now say all people lose muscle starting at age 40-50. Joint and bone problems soon follow, as well as packing on extra pounds that become harder and harder to lose.

While that may sound minor, it can add up over years and decades. Weaker bones and muscles contribute to bad falls, hospital stays, and serious long-term health problems.

For years, Tony Horton believed the only way to fight these problems was with more exercise… and he is famous for training major stars like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Stevie Nicks, to name a few of his celebrity clients.

But recently, he’s found a better way to combat these common health issues that has nothing to do with exercise. Actually, it starts with one thing: Food.

“We gave these superfoods to older athletes… people in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond. They all had the most incredible results of their lives,” Horton said.

“Not only were they stronger, but they also had more energy, they even had better heart health,” Horton said. “We thought… why are only athletes doing this? Anyone over 40 would want these results.”

“And sure enough, when we gave it to non-athletes, the changes were even better.”

Incredibly, studies have proven the results all seem to be traced back to adding 3 “superfoods” to your diet. The technique is simple, you do it from home, and it’s now shown to work for people of any age, even people who don’t exercise at all.

Here are THREE tips to apply to select cleaner fish and seafood.

Tip #1: Pick small fish and seafood​

As a general rule, smaller fish such as squid, scallops, and sardines contain less mercury than larger fish such as tuna and swordfish, which are higher up the food chain.
This is why our new improved Essential Omegas is derived from anchovies and sardines - small fish known to be low in mercury. We, of course, test it further in the lab.

Tip #2: Buy American fish​

90% of seafood consumed in the US is imported from countries such as China, Vietnam, and Thailand. Unfortunately, these countries lack rigorous management and enforcement of farming and catching seafood - this includes overfishing, environmental damage, using antibiotics, growth hormones, and chemicals in the feed - most of them are banned in the US. Only 2% of the imported seafood is tested by the FDA.

Tip #3: Check for a local fishery​

This great website, https://localcatch.org/ will show local fisheries and stores that specialize in sustainably raised seafood coming from clean sources - and most likely good for you, too.
I hope you find it helpful and take fear and confusion out when shopping for seafood. I personally consume seafood two to three times a week and my mercury levels (which I test every other year) are at healthy levels.
