hi jimmi, long time no see! back from my trip to a few countries then pop heart bypass operation! for some reason him/her above dont want me buddy lol i like your above list but number 3 i would find hard, it would be a very very short list ..Compassionate conversation when caring
Compassionate conversation is a skill and takes practice. It can be increasingly challenging when speaking with a loved one about memory problems. Four tips to remember are:
- Limit distractions. Even small distractions can unsettle the conversation. Many people with memory loss also have difficulty hearing and staying focused, so keep background noise to a minimum.
- Speak naturally and stay calm. People with memory loss may have trouble remembering your words, but they will remember the feeling.
- Invite the right people. The more people talking, the more confusing the conversation may be.
- Be patient and avoid cutting them off. Allow extra time for responses. It may take them extra time to process. You can express love and compassion by just listening and being attentive.
This week I will be offering a final bonus webinar in the 4 Pillars for Brain Healing Series. I will be discussing Communication that Heals. Register here if you’d like to join the conversation.

A recent study published in the British Journal of Pharmacology reveals that frequent alcohol consumption can increase sensitivity to pain and potentially lead to chronic pain. Dr. Marisa Roberto and her research team have identified targets that could treat alcohol-associated chronic pain and sensitivity. Chronic pain is both a symptom of alcohol dependence and a driving factor for continued drinking. The study highlights the urgent need to understand the relationship between chronic pain and alcohol dependence.
