🧠 Emotional Eating Forensics:
This week, I had a photo shoot downtown. First of all… So much fun, and I can’t wait to show you the final pictures.
But before we even got out of the parking lot, I got into a little altercation with the Meter Man.
I walked over to the machine to pay for my one hour of parking, which in my town is 25 cents. Yes. Really.
But the machine wasn’t working. My friend said... you’re in luck. Here comes the Meter Man. This just got instantly easier.
I tell the Meter Man about the broken machine, and he checks it out. Yup. Still broken.

I started to give him my quarter, and that's when the battle started. He refused to take my quarter. I’m trying to give him my quarter, and he keeps refusing it. He says... I can’t take your quarter.
My argument back... I’m going to be here for one hour. I need to legally park my car and pay for it. Take my quarter.
I can’t.
Yes, you can. That’s my car. I’m going to park for one hour. It’s 25 cents. Here’s my quarter.

He refused. 🤨
Now, y'all... I'm a pretty stubborn woman. But I also know when to back down. I'm not going to escalate this altercation over 25 cents.
Even though I know I'm right. 😆

And I thought of you because this is exactly what we go through with dieting.
We are convinced that the only way to lose weight is calorie in vs. calorie out. Even when it's obvious that it's not working.

Here are 5 of the worst chemicals to avoid in your cosmetic and personal care labels...
1. Parabens
Parabens are cheap preservatives that are put in a lot of cosmetic products that wreak havoc on the hormone estrogen and can increase breast cancer risk.
You’ll easily recognize these ingredients since they all end in “paraben” such as ethylparaben, methylparaben, and propylparaben.
2. Fragrance
No one is really sure what’s in it because manufacturers are not required to disclose the ingredients that make up a fragrance. What is known is that it can be any number of over 3000 chemicals.
So if all the label says is “fragrance,” assume it’s a secret chemical cocktail that may be damaging for your health.
3. Phthalates
These chemicals are common in many cosmetics and are well-known for causing a range of issues, including reproductive dysfunction, congenital disabilities, asthma, diabetes, and ADHD.
They’re used in many products to make them more liquid, like moisturizers and skin lotions.
To help you identify these ingredients, look for items listed as DBP (dibutyl phthalate) DEP (diethyl phthalate), BBP (benzyl butyl phthalate), or similar.
4. Triclosan or Microban
These are chemicals used to prevent bacterial growth, but neither of them discriminate between your good and bad bacteria and may be responsible for the rise of superbugs and other dangerous illnesses.
These were banned from antibacterial soaps several years ago; HOWEVER, they’re still allowed and common in deodorants, shaving products, creams, color cosmetics, and more.
5. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)
SLS is a common ingredient used as a foaming agent in soaps and shampoos, and it’s typically safe when used briefly and rinsed from the skin.
But it’s also used as a thickening agent in facial creams, lotions, cleansers, and even hair dye, which your skin absorbs. And this has been linked to kidney and liver dysfunction.

Do you ever feel like your brain just isn't working the way it used to?



Maybe you struggle with:

A major study out of Oxford University recently analyzed data from nearly 5,000 people…



And what they found was that people experiencing depression, anxiety, and chronic fatigue all had elevated levels of bacterial toxins that had leaked from their gut into their bloodstream.



This is what we call "leaky gut" — and the more severe someone's symptoms were in the study, the higher their toxin levels.



This means what feels like a "brain problem" might actually start in your digestive system.



Here's what I tell my patients to start healing their gut-brain connection:



  1. Cook with whole foods instead of relying on takeout

    Highly processed foods often contain additives, preservatives, or inflammatory oils that irritate and weaken the intestinal lining.

    By switching to whole foods, you’re reducing triggers that worsen intestinal permeability — i.e. the tiny gaps in your gut lining that let the wrong stuff leak into your body.

  2. Add fermented foods to every meal

    Fermented foods like yogurt, kimchi, pickles, sauerkraut, and kombucha give you good bacteria that push out harmful strains, restore balance, and make short-chain fatty acids like butyrate, which fuel and strengthen your gut lining.

    Pro tip: make sure you read the label — store-bought fermented foods can contain sugar, which make gut issues worse!

  3. Move your body daily — even just walking

    Exercise boosts blood flow to your gut and supports what I call “energy homeostasis” — keeping your system balanced while also calming inflammation, moving food along, and helping healthy bacteria thrive so your gut lining stays strong.


The bottom line is that your gut contains a trillion-member army of bacteria, viruses, and fungi that directly influence how you think and feel…

Our medical industry is suffering from systemic dysfunction. The drivers behind much of this dysfunction are two-fold: conflict of interest and lack of transparency. The net result is eroded trust and reduced effectiveness.

As a society, we can and must do better. Doing so will require us to collectively demand more from the various participants in the system.



Today, I would like to share with you our perspective here at XY Wellness on what the core issues are, and on what reforms we would like to see take place.



To begin, we believe that the potential side effects of a recommended course of treatment should never be more serious than the health condition now being treated.



We believe that it should not be allowable for a pharmaceutical company to pay a doctor to promote and prescribe its drugs. Nor for a doctor to consider accepting such payment, and if they do, to fail to disclose it.

We believe that it should not be allowable for a medical company to fund "independent" research on the efficacy of its own products. Nor for a legitimate research entity to consider accepting such funding, and if it does, to fail to disclose it.



We believe that media outlets need to act less like social media and more like trusted gatekeepers by halting its recent practice of publishing medical headlines without properly vetting the referenced studies.

We believe that the peer review process in academic journals needs to be strengthened in order to reduce instances of flawed studies, and that all published research must fully disclose its funding sources.



We believe that medical schools should offer its students formal training in nutritional support, and that an M.D. who lacks such formal training should never be presented as an authority on it in a public forum.

We believe in a whole patient care so that a man diagnosed with a prostate condition is seen and treated as the whole man with quality-of-life considerations rather than just a prostate.



We believe in encouraging lifestyle-based approaches to health as opposed to relying on remedies for often avoidable diagnosed conditions.



In other words, we believe in a proactive health system as opposed to a reactive health care system.

We believe, once again, in the elimination of conflict of interest and in a requirement for transparency, and believe that much of the current dysfunction in our medical industry will be eradicated by it.

Change will only start with each of us demanding more.

We encourage you to be a smart, savvy consumer of medical services, products, and information. Be choosy. Ask good questions, and demand equally good answers and full disclosure.



You deserve it, and it is available to you. Why should you settle for anything less?

Vitamin D Lowers Cardiovascular Risk

Dr. David Brownstein, M.D., writes:


An article in the British Medical Journal looked at whether vitamin D supplementation altered the incidence of major cardiovascular disease. The five-year, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial included more than 21,000 subjects ages 60-84 who were given either 60,000 IU of vitamin D orally per month, or placebo.

Special: Doctor: All Multivitamins Are Not the Same

The rate of major cardiovascular events was 9% lower in the vitamin D group than in the placebo group. This reduction was particularly noticeable among patients with cardiovascular disease, who had a 19% lower rate of heart attack and an 11% lower rate of coronary artery bypass surgery compared to those not taking vitamin D. There was no difference in stroke rates.

Vitamin D is a very safe supplement as long as proper dosing is practiced. If you are going to supplement with vitamin D, make sure you use natural vitamin D3, not vitamin D2 — the prescription form of vitamin D is often D2.

Most of my patients take approximately 5,000 IU of vitamin D per day, especially during winter.

Hey Jimi,

Most of my life I've taken the road less traveled.

I'm an only child and I never really fit in as a kid...

I questioned everything. And I was often inclined to do the opposite of what everyone else was doing... not because I wanted to be different. I just was different.

When faced with cancer, I went against conventional advice and instead, relied on my instincts, intuition and faith to guide me on the path to healing.

I prayed a lot. I prayed for wisdom and guidance. I prayed for strength. I prayed for my wife and family, and I prayed for peace, and for healing...

I was desperate, and I reached out and asked for help. And I got it.

I stepped out in faith, into the unknown, alone... And miracles happened. People and information came into my life at exactly the right time. I knew it wasn't coincidence.

Yes, I took Massive Action to change my life...

But it was clear to me that God was guiding me and answering my prayers.

Vitamin D Slows Diabetes Onset

More than 27 million people in the United States are living with Type 2 diabetes, a number expected to increase as the population ages and a growing percentage of people become overweight or obese, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

A recent study published in the journal Cell revealed that an unlikely hero, vitamin D, may slow the onset of diabetes by protecting the beta cells. Beta cells, found in the pancreas, manufacture and release insulin, the hormone essential for controlling glucose levels in the blood.

Special: Doctor: All Multivitamins Are Not the Same

If the beta cells produce too little insulin, glucose can accumulate in the blood at levels that are toxic to cells, reaching potentially lethal proportions.

Researchers from the Salk Institute in La Jolla, California, found that by boosting receptors in vitamin D they were able to treat damaged beta cells in mice. They used a compound called 1BRD9 to boost the activity of vitamin D receptors, which had a protective effect on the beta cells and brought down the glucose levels to within a normal range.

“We know that diabetes is a disease caused by inflammation,” explained senior author Ronald Evans. “In this study, we identified the vitamin D receptor as an important modulator of both inflammation and beta cell survival.”

By adding 1BRD9 to the vitamin D, scientists could supercharge genes to trigger an anti-inflammatory effect and protect the beta cells to survive even under stressful conditions.
