If you’ve been working hard to lower your blood sugar, but still can’t seem to get it under control, you might be missing the most important piece of the puzzle.

If you don't run the right lab tests, the root cause of high blood sugar can stay hidden for years or decades.

Most doctors only order a few basic tests, like fasting glucose, HbA1c, and a standard lipid panel. While these tests are good, they are NOT ENOUGH to reveal the drivers of high blood sugar, insulin resistance, and diabetes.

The truth is, blood sugar problems usually start years before those standard labs ever show it. That’s why so many people continue to struggle with fatigue, weight gain, and rising glucose levels, despite doing “all the right things.”

In my new free training: “How to Use Functional Lab Testing to Find the Root Cause of High Blood Sugar and Diabetes", I'll teach you how this works and share the 10 most important lab markers that you need to know to understand what's really going on.

In this powerful video training, you’ll learn:
+ Why functional lab testing is the key to understanding your metabolism
+ The difference between “standard” and “functional” lab ranges—and why it matters
+ The 10 most important lab tests for blood sugar and metabolic health
+ How to get these labs done even if your doctor won’t order them
+ How to use your lab data to finally address the real cause of high blood sugar, not just the symptoms

If you’re tired of guesswork and ready to see what’s actually happening inside your body, this training will show you how.

Treating Atrial Fibrillation

Dr. Chauncey Crandall, M.D., writes:

Atrial fibrillation is a potentially serious condition that causes the heart to pulsate rapidly at 300 to 600 beats per minute. This can trigger symptoms such as:

• Palpitations
• Weakness
• Reduced ability to exercise
• Fatigue
• Lightheadedness
• Shortness of breath
• Chest pain

Atrial fibrillation also causes blood flow to become irregular, which means it can pool and form a clot, increasing the risk of stroke. People with chronic atrial fibrillation are five times more likely to have a stroke than those with a normal heartbeat.

Special: The Shocking Truth About Magnesium

Research has also linked the condition to memory loss.

Depending on the underlying cause of atrial fibrillation and how long you’ve had it, doctors may be able to reset your sinus rhythm using a procedure called electrical cardioversion. During this brief procedure, an electric shock is delivered to the heart through paddles or patches placed on the chest; this shock stops the heart’s electrical activity for a moment. The goal is to reset the heart’s normal rhythm.

In most cases, one to three shocks will restore the normal sinus rhythm. But how long it will stay that way is not predictable, so medication is often prescribed to help prevent future episodes.

Treatment of atrial fibrillation has also changed in recent years, with earlier intervention now found to be preferable. The main reason for early intervention is that it avoids the possibility that atrial fibrillation will result in a process called “heart remodeling,” which refers to changes in the heart’s size and shape that occur in response to cardiac disease or cardiac damage.

When you remodel your house, it’s often a good thing. Not so with remodeling of the heart. In general, the greater the degree of ventricular remodeling, the worse a person’s outcome is likely to be.

For decades, we’ve been warned that too much bad cholesterol clogs your arteries, fuels inflammation, and raises the risk of heart disease.
But now, researchers are raising the alarm about a different molecule…
And they’ve even nicknamed it “the new cholesterol.”
It’s called TMAO (short for trimethylamine N-oxide). The latest studies show elevated levels of TMAO could double your chance of a heart attack, stroke, and even premature death.
TMAO is made in the gut.
Even if your cholesterol numbers look good, your gut may still be working against your heart. This is one of many reasons that it’s critical for you to understand how to heal, strengthen, and maintain your gut biome.
My go-to gut health expert is Dr. Alan Desmond. He’s helped thousands of his patients to heal their guts. Many of them are now feeling better than they have in decades!
That’s why I’m thrilled to invite you to our brand-new, totally free Get to Know Your Gut Masterclass.
Learn more and sign up
In this fast-paced masterclass (which includes a few laugh-out-loud moments!), we’ll share the biggest myths and latest science-backed breakthroughs to help you take control of your TMAO levels, digestion, weight, immunity, mood, and long-term wellness.
Your gut is powerful, and this free masterclass will teach you how to make it work for you instead of against you.

Scientists and Doctors Warn of Potential Serious Health Effects of 5G

We the undersigned scientists and doctors recommend a moratorium on the roll-out of the fifth generation, 5G, for telecommunication until potential hazards for human health and the environment have been fully investigated by scientists independent from industry. 5G will substantially increase exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) on top of the 2G, 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, etc. for telecommunications already in place. RF-EMF has been proven to be harmful for humans and the environment.

10 Reasons Your Kids Shouldn’t Use AirPods

Wireless earbuds like AirPods use Bluetooth technology, which emits radiofrequency radiation near the head and body for prolonged periods. Experts caution that children and teenagers, due to their thinner skulls and more absorbent brain tissue, are especially vulnerable to health risks, including brain cancer, neurological damage and hearing loss.

The Truth About Sugar and Prostate Cancer

We've all heard the phrase "sugar feeds cancer." The truth is that it is a bit more complex than that, and I find that terms like that lead to guilt eating. In this brief newsletter, I want to explain how sugar works in the body, how and when it may contribute to prostate cancer, and how to practice healthier eating habits.

Remember that this is a nutritional guideline for healing your body and to help improve your quality of longevity despite a prostate cancer diagnosis. Recommendations are not the law on how to eat better, nor a dogma diet, temporary eating program for weight loss, or obsession with any macronutrient. No one food causes or cures prostate cancer. Chronic poor dietary habits combined with genetics and environmental factors increase the risk of the disease.

How to think about Carbs and Sugar

Carbohydrates (Carbs) or sugar are not good or bad. Carbs and sugar are not the same, but all carbs turn to sugar in the form of glucose before it is utilized by cells for energy production.

Refined and processed carbs (simple carbs) are more like sugar, and they are stripped of vitamins, minerals, and fiber and can lead to health problems, including prostate cancer, when eaten often. Simple carbs turn to glucose too rapidly and are absorbed too quickly, which creates chaos in your body by having too much glucose in your blood at one time (hyperglycemia). Hyperglycemia leads to insulin resistance.

Complex, unrefined carbs, on the other hand, give your body essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that serve as prebiotics to feed the microbiome. Complex carbs even contain protein. Having all essential nutrients intact promotes health and reduces the risk of disease. Optimal carbs carry nutrients like vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber and are absorbed slowly. You want to eat complex carbs and avoid simple carbs and sugars; those are the worst, but they often taste good and lead to overeating.

How Sugar Works in Your Body

After digestion, carbs break down to sugar in the intestines, and then that glucose is released into your bloodstream, causing a rapid rise in blood sugar (glucose). The increase in blood glucose should be slow and steady to sustain health and lower disease risk. Under normal circumstances, when blood sugar levels rise, the pancreas releases insulin into the bloodstream and acts as the key that unlocks the cells' doors, allowing glucose to enter the cell for energy or stored as glycogen for later use.

So, in the body's infinite wisdom, your body stores glucose in fat cells to use for energy in case you run out of food at some point in the future. The problem is that we never really run out of food, so excess sugar consumption is stored as fat, which leads to all sorts of health problems.

Sugar found naturally in fruits (in the form of fructose) or vegetables is not a problem when eaten in normal portions. Processed sugar, like white sugar, is processed from sugar cane or beets and once removed from its natural composition and concentrated to just sugar, it creates havoc in the body and contributes to all sorts of health problems. Simple sugar is a problem in two ways:

  1. It rushes to your bloodstream too quickly, thereby causing hyperglycemia and then too much release of insulin at one time, leading to insulin resistance.
  2. It is depleted in fiber and nutrients to support the healthy functioning of the body.

What is Insulin Resistance

Too much sugar consumption leads to hyperglycemia, the primary effect of insulin resistance. Insulin resistance is a medical condition in which the body's cells do not respond effectively to the hormone insulin and, therefore, cannot carry glucose into the cells for energy.

In individuals with insulin resistance, the cells, particularly those in muscle, fat, and liver tissue, do not respond as well to insulin signals. As a result, the pancreas produces more insulin to compensate for the decreased effectiveness, leading to higher-than-normal insulin levels in the bloodstream, known as hyperinsulinemia. Hyperinsulinemia leads to Insulin resistance, which then leads to chronic inflammation, a major cause of almost all life-threatening diseases like hypertension (high blood pressure), atherosclerosis (narrowing of arteries), and an elevated risk of heart disease, stroke, autoimmune disorders, and cancer.

Foods that cause hyperglycemia and insulin resistance when over consumed are:

Flour, including whole wheat bread (whole wheat bread is not healthier than white bread, and both can cause hyperglycemia), cereals, pasta, and baked goods like pastries, cookies, and cakes. Fruit juices contain a high concentration of sugar in the form of fructose and should be avoided. To make one glass of orange juice, it takes about six oranges, which you are unlikely to eat in one sitting. Also, other nutrients from the orange are left behind when made into a juice, so the sugar (fructose) rushes into your bloodstream, causing too much insulin secretion.

When sugar is consumed in the form of baked goods, cereals, fruit juice, soda, or any other form, it quickly rushes to your bloodstream and causes high blood sugar (hyperglycemia).

Foods that protect from hyperglycemia and reduce the risk of disease are:

  • Grains: whole grains, brown rice, quinoa, whole wheat (not flour), whole oats (rolled or steel cut, not quick oats), barley, buckwheat, corn. Legumes, all vegetables (not the juice, but the food), most fruits (not the juice, but the whole fruit), sourdough bread.
  • Fruits: fig, all berries, grapes, cherries, grapefruit, pears, apples, oranges, tangerines, passion fruit, peaches, papaya, Lychee
  • Vegetables: Avocado, squash, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, broccoli, sauerkraut, cauliflower, cucumber, dill pickles, olives, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, peppers, mushrooms, leeks, shallots, asparagus, spinach
  • Root vegetables: beets, carrots, fennel, artichokes, jicama, turnips, arrowroot, burdock root, daikon, water chestnuts
  • Legumes: soybeans, tempeh, tofu, white beans, peas, chickpeas fava beans, hummus

The relationship between sugar consumption and prostate cancer

The relationship between sugar and prostate cancer is a complex topic, but scientific research has provided some insights into how the two are related. Diets high in sugar and refined carbohydrates can lead to elevated blood sugar levels, which in turn can lead to increased insulin production. High insulin levels may promote the growth of some cancer cells, including those in prostate tissue.

Excessive sugar consumption has been associated with obesity and chronic inflammation, both of which are risk factors for various types of cancer, including prostate cancer. Many Human and animal studies have shown that high-sugar diets can accelerate tumor growth in prostate cancer.

Final Thoughts

Remember, the whole XY Wellness program is better than the sum of its parts. A complete food diet, regular exercise, and maintaining a healthy body weight are crucial for overall health and may also contribute to reducing cancer risk. There is always some wiggle room to mindfully break the rules and enjoy a cake at a birthday party if you choose to, guilt-free. Lastly, targeted dietary supplements help mitigate any dietary transgression, so keep at it. As always, we are here to help you thrive despite prostate cancer. Let me know how we can help.

Fruit: Your lungs' secret weapon against air pollution

mail
Groundbreaking research reveals a surprising defense against toxic air: eating more fruit could protect your lungs from pollution damage.

Scientists analyzed data from 200,000 participants in the UK Biobank and discovered that women eating four or more portions of fruit daily showed significantly smaller lung function declines when exposed to air pollution compared to those eating less fruit.

The numbers are striking: For every additional 5 micrograms in fine particulate matter (PM2.5), women with low fruit intake lost 78.1ml of lung capacity, while high fruit eaters lost only 57.5ml—a 26% difference!

The secret lies in fruit's powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, which help combat the oxidative stress caused by polluted air. With over 90% of the global population breathing air that exceeds WHO safety guidelines, this simple dietary strategy could be a game-changer for respiratory health.

An apple a day might just keep the doctor away—and your lungs breathing easier in our polluted world!

The Kidney Stone Prevention Diet That Actually Works

mail
If you've ever experienced a kidney stone, you know it's an experience you never want to repeat.

The conventional wisdom used to be simple: avoid calcium.

But here's the surprising part: dietary calcium—ideally 1,000 to 1,200 mg/day from food—plays a crucial role in controlling urinary oxalate levels. Getting enough calcium in your diet might actually help prevent them.

Recent research reveals:
  • Approximately 80% of kidney stones are composed of calcium oxalate; when a person has hyperoxaluria (excessive oxalate in the urine), this chemical can combine with calcium to create painful stones and crystals in the kidneys.
The real culprits behind kidney stone formation?
  • High sodium intake
  • Excessive animal protein
  • Inadequate hydration
These play bigger roles than many people realize.

Key prevention strategies:
  • A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and adequate calcium
  • Lower sodium intake (lowering dietary sodium can reduce urinary calcium excretion, further decreasing stone risk)
Understanding which foods to embrace and which to moderate can transform your approach to kidney stone prevention.

The Heart Health Danger You May Be Overlooking

mail
Your scale says you’re healthy—but that doesn’t mean your body fat isn’t putting your heart at risk. New research suggests that fat deep below the skin’s surface presents a more pressing concern for your cardiovascular health than the body fat you can see.

McMaster University researchers used advanced MRI scans on over 33,000 adults, measuring fat distribution and artery health. They found that visceral fat around organs and liver fat were strongly linked to carotid artery thickening and plaque buildup—key predictors of stroke and heart attack. These associations held even after adjusting for cholesterol, blood pressure, and lifestyle factors.

Unlike visible fat, visceral and liver fat are metabolically active, secreting inflammatory molecules that accelerate artery damage even in people who appear healthy, challenging BMI as a reliable health indicator.
Luckily, certain lifestyle changes may be enough to turn your cardiovascular health around.

Adding more fiber-rich foods, like leafy green vegetables, to your diet can help. Doing additional strength training or high-intensity intervals—which target deep abdominal fat more effectively than steady cardio—can also help reduce your risk, as can getting more sleep and mitigating stress.

Rejuvenating rest, enjoyable movement, and some delicious food might just be the RX your body really needs after all!

Yes, this is always a topic of interest since most, if not all, invasive treatments for prostate cancer result in some degree of diminished sexual health and function. What do you do?

When treating a life-threatening condition like prostate cancer, the primary consideration must be to choose a treatment option that provides the highest survival rate based on the profile of your disease. Given comparable survival rates across a number of treatment options, you will then have an opportunity to choose based on quality-of-life issues.

At the time of diagnosis, you are so focused on survival that the quality-of-life implications of various treatment options may not be fully explored, discussed, and factored in. This sense of urgency to take action can lead to treatment decisions in which quality-of-life risks such as incontinence or impotence are only fully understood after the fact. So, ask your doctor the right questions to ensure that you understand upfront the benefits and risks associated with their various treatment options. With a little bit of research and patience, better treatment decisions can be made.

Today our focus is on post-treatment degradation in sexual function, and what options are available to you if you have or will be undergoing an invasive treatment for prostate cancer.

First of all, what triggers the treatment-related I am a spammer ban me dysfunction? There are two bundles of nerves, one on each side of the prostate, that activate the physiological process needed to achieve and maintain an erection. When one or both of these nerve bundles are damaged or removed, the result is diminished sexual function. The degree of damage to these bundles determines the degree of degradation in sexual function.

In other words, a man left with one undamaged nerve bundle has more to work with than a man that has had both of his nerve bundles removed or damaged. The more you have to work with, the more successful you can be in regaining and maintaining a satisfactory level of sexual function.

Let’s start with lower degrees of damage and work our way up to the more severe cases.

First of all, we need to have realistic expectations knowing that our pelvic region has just experienced a traumatic event. We also need to get familiar with the concept of a “dry orgasm” in which your sensation of orgasm will be comparable, but the absence of a functioning prostate will mean a lack of ejaculate.

Secondly, a smart dietary and exercise regimen will result in improved general health and fitness levels, which makes a difference in sexual health. Smart lifestyle choices matter.

Thirdly, we recommend that you try natural, side-effect-free options before considering pharmaceuticals, injections, or devices. In Dr. Geo’s clinical practice, he finds that many post-treatment men will achieve their goals with a combination of diet, exercise, and XYVGGR.

Dr. Geo’s goal with it was to address the underlying causes of I am a spammer ban me dysfunction rather than to “pave over” them for a few hours. Its formula is designed to support critical aspects of sexual health and function, such as boosting nitric oxide levels, improving circulation within the blood vessels involved in an erection, and reversing age-related or prostate cancer treatment-related physiological damage. For many post-treatment men, diet, exercise, and XYVGGR may be all that is needed.

If you are dealing with more damage, atop the earlier recommendation, we suggest adding a PDE-5 drug such as Cialis or Viagra. To do so, work closely with your doctor to ensure that drug interaction issues are examined and managed, and get a prescription. This combination of diet, exercise, XYVGGR, and a PDE-5 drug works well, but every man is starting from a different point.

If you follow all the above recommendations and are still unable to regain a satisfactory level of sexual function, we recommend personalized guidance from a credentialed sexual health doctor. There are a number of viable options to work with, but only work with a qualified specialist to prescribe and monitor this process, which will require some trial and error.

To summarize, anyone undergoing invasive prostate cancer treatments should expect some degree of degradation sexual health and function. There are a number of progressively aggressive treatment options available to you. These options are superior to what was available just a few years ago, so if you have lost some or all of your ability to enjoy a satisfying sex life, do not give up. Instead, start with the natural, side-effect-free approach, and then, if needed, see your doctor about adding a PDE-5 drug to your regimen. If more is needed, seek out a sexual health specialist who will work directly with you to build a customized approach.

And please tend to the psychological aspects recognizing that your body has gone through a traumatic event, is now different, and needs time to adjust and recuperate. Be patient but be persistent as there are plenty of good resources available to you. We are here to help.

Hey, Dr. Nandi here.

You’ve probably heard that dark chocolate is good for you.

It’s in magazines, health blogs, even medical studies…

Chocolate for heart health, chocolate for brain health, chocolate for longevity, you name it.

But when you dig deeper, there’s one detail most people miss…

Those studies aren’t actually about chocolate.

They’re about cacao

Which is the raw, unprocessed form that still contains all the natural antioxidants, minerals, and flavanols that make it so powerful.

The problem is, by the time most chocolate hits store shelves, nearly all of those nutrients have been stripped away through processing.

Still, there’s a growing movement of small makers trying to bring cacao back to its original form — closer to what ancient cultures once called “food of the gods.”

One of them caught my attention recently. The story starts in a tiny coastal town in Mexico… and ends with something that might just change the way you think about chocolate altogether.

>> Is this possibly the healthiest snack on planet Earth?

Hello ,

It’s Halloween — a day that tends to come with plenty of sweet temptations.

And while a little treat is absolutely fine (we all need joy and balance!), too much sugar can leave you feeling tired, moody, and craving more.

That’s why I love having nourishing, hormone-friendly alternatives on hand, treats that satisfy your sweet tooth and give your body something it can actually use for energy and balance.

These Chocolate Coconut Energy Bites are naturally sweetened with Medjool dates and packed with healthy fats, fiber, and minerals.

They help stabilize your blood sugar and keep you satisfied, without the rollercoaster of processed candy.

They’re rich, chocolatey, and perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up or a healthy Halloween treat. 🎃

🍫 Chocolate Coconut Energy Bites

Ingredients:

  • 6 Medjool dates (soak in water for 1 hour to soften, then drain and remove seeds)
  • 1 cup almond meal
  • ½ cup finely shredded coconut, plus ⅓ cup for rolling
  • ⅓ cup coconut oil
  • ⅓ cup cacao powder
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 6 drops liquid Stevia (or to taste)

Directions:

1️⃣ Put all ingredients in a food processor and blend until well combined.

2️⃣ Transfer to a bowl and let stand for 20 minutes to allow the chia seeds to soften.

3️⃣ Place the extra coconut in a shallow dish. Roll level tablespoons of the mixture into balls, then roll in coconut to coat.

Store in the fridge for an easy grab-and-go treat!

Each bite is full of fiber, healthy fats, and natural sweetness — helping you feel satisfied, energized, and balanced.

So, if you find yourself surrounded by candy bowls today, reach for one of these instead. Your body (and hormones) will thank you. 💛
